I just happened to stumble onto this game. My wife puts up with all the take overs, killing and pillaging from other games so I thought this would be a good change of pace for her. I attempted to explain it to her over the phone and she wants to know more about it. But since we ALWAYS check to "see if Rondey put out a video" (this is said quite frequently in our house about games) I don't have to explain anymore. I will let you do it.
I'm excited for this game! I've basically been like Scott Pilgrim and just sitting in front of the door waiting for mine to ship. I'm glad to see a How to Play as well!
This was extremely helpful. We are in the midst of learning the game. I wish they would have chosen a darker color and larger font for the cards and instructions. It was very difficult to read them, but we used a magnifying glass so that. They do need a huge and obvious notice that the cards should not be opened until reading the tutorial instructions. We made a mess of that straight out of the box. Other than these critics we can see we will love the game.
I sent out a tweet saying that as well. Many games promise to be able to teach you as you play, but I felt this was the first one I'd seen that did the job well. That said, if you'd rather not be learning as you play, or you don't own the game and want to learn about it - I felt this video could be useful.
I had the misfortune of trying to learn the game at a local boardgame cafe, but the cards weren't put back in the box in order. My cousin who was already very on the fence, leaning towards not seeing the appeal, about this game basically gave the manual a decent attempt before one of his friends who works at the cafe, basically outright told him the game was terrible so we never got past setup. I am now watching this video in case he gives it a 2nd chance (he was curious due to Shut Up and Sit Down raving about it.)

I really enjoyed you explaining how the game works! you explained it so well. the only thing I'm confused about is the shrieked packages. They also I’m luxe scenes as well. How do they incorporate with the rest of the scenes throughout the game? I get confused between the other scenes and the scenes in the shrink wrapped. Should the shrink wrapped scenes be mixed in depending on the type of scene it is?
Hi Sara, each Love Story in shrink wrap comes with unique synopsis, chapter and finale cards plus additional scenes. The unique synopsis, chapter and finale cards you'll add (but then remove when you're finished and want to play a different story. However, the additional regular scenes that come with a Love Story can be used freely in other Love Stories, so you can just leave those in the three main decks, rather than keep them with the Love Story they came with. Hope that helps!
This game was created by a Danish guy who was on a tv show called “365 days to success” and he worked hella hard to get this game to be the very best he could and he ended up becoming a millionaire. Idk why but I feel so proud of him lol because I really followed that story
I think it depends on how you wish to play. Sometimes it's fun to just go with what seems like it would create a fun story, but if you're actively trying to fulfill your goal (which is the idea), then you you'll likely want to role play something that matches what you need to aim for.'

Great walkthrough. Thank you. I have one question: for each of the Love Stories you are asked to add more Sweet, Serious and/or Drama cards. But it's not clear to me which of these belongs to which love story making it hard to find and remove them before playing another love story. Is there a way to identify them? Or am I simply suppose to leave them in the three attack indefinitely?

The core rule is that you are trying to fulfill your personal destiny. Meeting your destiny doesn't necessarily mean the relationship worked out - it just means you ended up where you were destined to be - if you want to think of it that way.
If you would go below 0 satisfaction, does it go to 0 or stays where it's at currently? e.g. if I'm at 2 satisfactiom and have to resolve a -3, do I stay at 2 or go to 0?
Does the in game tutorial force choices? So are you playing at ALL or is it really a guided tour of what it would look like if choices WERE made? I dont mind learning as we play...but I don't want to learn INSTEAD of play. :) Thoughts? Anybody know?

That's a tough one to answer, as I don't know your teaching style, or your wife's learning style :) It's also hard to say how long the tutorial takes, as it is spread throughout your entire first game, so it sort of depends on how long it takes you to read each instruction step, along with the game play you perform after it. Everything in this video, is everything you'd encounter in that tutorial - you're just getting it in a concise package here. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have fun playing!
The goal isn't to beat the other person. Your goal is to complete your own destiny. Your partner may also complete their's and both win. Or there could be one winner and one loser. Lastly, you could also both fail. It isn't all about just trying to beat the other person.

Not necessarily, for example you can see that one of the destinies has a requirement that you and your partner have a similar number of satisfaction points. Of course, you can play it competitively, but it seems that it's mainly meant to tell a story.

Hey Rodney, my wife and I just played this and we were confused on the outcome of the game in regards to the story with our destinies. We played the Sunday date story and all of the destinies say "You will stay in the relationship". We both failed our destinies. Does that mean we broke up? or that we're still in the relationship but not happy? Also, I know that you can break-up in later stories somehow(i'm guessing destinies). If one person fulfills their stay-together destiny while the other player somehow breaks up, how does that translate to the fictional story being told/experienced? Or is that scenario not even possible? Thanks!
In First Date, it means you stayed together, but you didn't fulfill the desired outcome of your relationship. Imagine two people in a relationship, but each not getting their internal desires fulfilled. In the example you give for later scenarios, it would not be possible to both fulfill staying together and breaking up. One person would not fulfill their destiny in that case.
I guess i just don't understand breakups. Does simply choosing a breakup destiny make us breakup? Or does the person who selected the breakup have to actually satisfy the destiny requirements to breakup? Or does the satisfying of the breakup destiny card just determine how the breakup went? Clearance Collector 清倉收藏家 you can definitely play teams and make decisions as a couple for your character. It’s actually pretty hilarious to discuss the character’s actions with a spouse, etc.!
We played it yesterday - but could figure out the actual use for the trait cards. Is there any benefit to completing them, or do we just complete them or the sake of it?

If you have more than one secret, when you have to reveal a secret, do you get to choose which one or does your partner choose at random?
I shot this long enough ago that I don't remember the specific wording on the card that prompt a player to reveal a secret.

A break up destiny will cause you to break up, but to fulfill that destiny, you'll still have to complete other objectives on that card.
This needs to be multiplayer too. Just think, double date.
