  • Adjust Black Hunter Longbow tiller easily done if it's too far out. I took mine from 1/8 neg to 3/16 pos easily.

    I have this exact same bow with the same issue. I was going to shim the limbs, but the method you used is much more elegant.
    I learned something.
    Thank you

      Hello Sir, I thought about shims myself. Because the tiller was not too far out I really didn't have to remove much at all.
      The first thing I did was clean up the string nocks nicely to make them have a smooth finish and even transition down the limb to prevent undue wear on the string.
      Thanks for your time 🙏
      Peace Happiness ✌️

    Brilliant work, Mark!!! You'd kick butt making a Self Bow!! If I could source nice staves here in Australia, I'd be building them, and that would lead me down a rabbit hole I wouldn't return from without multiple Bows.😂😂😂😂😂
    Nice work brother!!🙏

      HI Brett, great to hear from you. I hope that your archery is going well and healthy as well. I do have an oak stave from a slow growing tree above the snow line with very tight growth rings that has been drying for around 2 years. It should make a 60" bow if suitable. It still has the bark on it, no splitting that I can see and feels heavy for the size of it. It might be time to investigate it a bit further.
      Stay well mate, kindest regards for you and loved ones.
      Peace Happiness ✌️

      I tried looking for Miguel's CZcams channel but couldn't find it "yet"! I'm not sure how to spell his last name. If you got to his CZcams channel and tap the [share] button (the arrow icon) and then tap and hold the "copy link" button, you could then come back to the comments section on this post and tap&hold your finger in the comment box, "copy&paste" will pop up, and you can tap paste and it will paste his CZcams channel link in comments bar for you to tap "send" and post the link in these comments section so we can like and follow his channel!
      I know you're not tech savvy, but I thought I'd prompt ya' and see if ya' could post his link in the comments section here!? 😜😁👍😎

    I did some filing and sanding for my center shot on one of my black hunter longbows. My other black hunter longbows I just put a one quarter of an inch of leather on the shelf. When you do this you extend the shelf. Then I put my side plate on. The concave of the sight window on the riser makes it perfect for a center shot bow. I shoot 3 fingers under and these black hunter bows are fast and accurate. I have a lot more expensive bows but the black hunter out performs most of my other bows. The bow grip fits me well with the black himter.

      Hi Brad, the Black Hunter is truly a working man's bow, priced reasonably and easily set up to suit yourself. The only thing is when you get it dialled in, the arrow destruction !!
      Kindest regards, Mark 🙏

    Only outer portion of limb was worked on because? OR did ya sand entire length of working limb? I may have not changed degree of "center shot" and, instead, selected arrows that were bit less stiff . . .that's one of those personal preference thingys. Thanks for taking time to video your process!

    • @TradArcherDownunder
      @TradArcherDownunder  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I sanded from limb taper at riser to a couple inches from the tip. I suppose you would say the working part of the limbs.
      Sorry for late reply
      Kindest regards 🙏

    Tiller measurment is from top of Riser to string? Not from end of feather to string? Thanks

    Hey mate, nice vid. Looking at grabbing one of these soon in 30lb for backyard practice. What spine/weight arrows would you recommend? I'll be making it centre shot like yours too. Thanks..

    • @TradArcherDownunder
      @TradArcherDownunder  Před 3 měsíci +1

      G'day Adam, if I was shooting 30# with a centre cut riser, I would go for 600 spine light arrows so you could load the front up if you desired. There are complete arrows available at 290-300grn, so you put extra point weight if you find them a bit stiff, bringing them up to around 11, 12 gpp, which they shoot nicely.
      You can always make a stiff arrow work by adding weight up front, granted it will lose a little speed but not much.
      My personal preference is to use an arrow weight that will absorb all the energy from the bow, thus making the bow jump less upon release, making for better accuracy for myself with a basic tuned arrow. If you haven't tuned arrows, I highly recommend you give it a go you can't go wrong. I have a video on how I do a basic set-up, not perfect, but big improvements on what I was using.
      Hope this helps in some way, I hope you enjoy the new bow.
      Peace Happiness Friend ✌️

      @@TradArcherDownunder I've got my bow and have adjusted the tiller as it was needed. Regarding the centre cutting, I assume you measure centre and then cut a further to half the arrow diameter past centre, am I on the right track here? Thanks again, much appreciated.

    • @TradArcherDownunder
      @TradArcherDownunder  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You are correct in your thinking there Adam.
      I predominantly use 7.6mm carbon arrows, so I halved that, make sure you don't take too much off, err on the caution side if you think the riser doesn't look like it is thick enough. Take it slowly, test shoot you may be happy with just off centre. I don't have any side plate material so did not have to take extra to allow for thickness of materials. Nicely set up arrows means no arrow contact on riser when shooting 👍
      You will be able to shoot the flea's off the neighbours 🐕 when you're finished 😀
      Happy tinkering mate.
      Peace Happiness ✌️
