    This is really valuable man! I intend to get both, but I'm absolutely obsessed with the JP15 in Cerulean Paradise right now! Having heard the side-by-side comparisons, something stands out, in that the Majesty sounds buttery smooth, and the 15 has this distinctive grainy/plucky quality about it and more body. I'm listening through Beyerdynamic DT990 edition 'phones and the differences are obvious, like they jump out, but there're tonal similarities too - the coil tap feature makes both of them sound almost the same, I could barely tell the difference (maybe it was the middle pickup settings without the coil tap...) when the middle pickups were engaged, but the bridge, neck and piezo features stand out in each. Thank you for this demonstration! 💖

    Man, what a great video. I’m still stuck a bit because they both seem to be such incredible guitars. I’ve slowly worked my way up the ranks of guitarhood, starting with a no-name, eventually getting an Ibanez, then a PRS SE, strandberg, Abasi, PRS DW CE 24, a custom Kiesel Aries, and now am looking at the JP15 or Majesty.
    It really does feel like the culmination of a musical journey. Both the Majesty and JP15 are just *packed* with features that you won’t find on other brands with a similar price tag. For fun I actually specced out a custom Kiesel to make it as close to a JP15 as possible and it cost like $300-600 more, without accounting for picking out a high-grade top and neck.
    Tonally I think the Majesty barely edges out the JP15 (I also like the bridge), but looks-wise I just can’t deny the beauty of the roasted flamed maple neck and fingerboard on the JP15.
    Overall I’m probably leaning towards the JP15 strictly because I’ve come to enjoy the feel of maple fingerboards over Ebony, but man it’s a tough choice. Thanks for the in-depth video!

    Great demo and comparison, thanks. Differences in tone are hardly discernible across all pickup configurations and could easily be dialled in or out with EQ - maybe the JP15 is a *LITTLE* bit tighter and brighter on the heavy tones, but am not totally convinced about that ?? For me, the tone differences are negligible TBH, and it would comes down to feel and aesthetics at the time if I were ever lucky enough to be in a position to have to chose between them. Saying that, I've got a Majesty Monarchy already, so that might swing me towards a JP15 - the quilted maple Cerulean Paradise finish is stunning :-).

    I own a majesty monarch and love it, but... I need to clear something up about the bridge and locking tuners. I consistently hear people speak of locking tuners as if they are a locking nut. They are not! They not only do not lock at the nut, they also do not lock the rotation of the post, they lock the string into the post. This is a HUGE difference and it is not as good as a locking nut, no matter what anyone says. I was pulling the string tight, locking it and getting about a quarter to a quarter and half turn, low to high, and when bending and pulling back on the trem it would slowly detune. I have found that putting about a turn and a half on the post makes a big difference for my tuning stability and is similar to my floyds. YMMV.

    • @tomh4244
      @tomh4244 Před 3 lety

      To have a turn and a half on the post you basically mean giving enough slack to the string and then tune up, or you're turning the string around the post before tuning like non locking guitars?

    • @Jmdeclue
      @Jmdeclue Před 3 lety

      @@tomh4244 after tuning the string I am trying to leave enough to make about one and a half wraps around the post, so it is a small amount of slack. Enough so there is at least one full wrap. It seems to work well. Multiple wraps and you will get string stretch which has always been a problem with all tremolos except floyds. I hope that explains it.

    1. I just got two Majesty Tigereye (serial 13000 and 13003) literally two weeks ago and I just returned both three days ago. They both had a problematic pickup selector where at a high volume with distortion if you pluck a high note, say e on 12th fret 1st string, and let it sustain and during the sustain you switch pickups, something anyone should be able to do, it literally sounded like someone was hitting a bass drum coming out of the speakers. It happened on every note but is most notable on the higher notes since that's a low thump that comes out of the speakers.
    2. Also both of them had dead notes around the high Ab on the 1st string - for people who don't know that's 16th fret.
    3. They also both had the push/push buttons feeling very stiff and not smooth at all. To a point where you didn't know if the button was going to come up or not. It certainly didn't follow your finger like the JP15 does when you pushed it to come up.
    4. One more thing was that both Majesties had somewhat lower output than my trusty JP15 who sustains like a 1950's Les Paul.
    5. They also both had strings (1st, 2nd, 3rd, that were slipping and cracking during bends, very possible a simple fix to lube everything but the factory should make sure this doesn't happen on a 5k guitar.
    So I decided to keep my old and trusty JP15.
    The other thing I noticed is that the upper fret access is much easier for me on the JP15. This may be subjective but for me when played the Majesty the left hand wrist kept hitting that weird corner on if I got anywhere near the highest frets. The JP15 is completely free of my wrist hitting the corner or any part of the cutaway at all. Just goes up there with no resistance. Which is ironic considering Ernie Ball and John Petrucci really try to push the upper fret access as being one of the selling points of the Majesty.
    Bottom line: the JP15 is a very awesome guitar and works much much better for me and the two Majesties I bought are clearly faulty products. So they both went back and I'm back playing the JP15 and now appreciate it just that much more.

      Where did you buy them from? I heard of majesty’s having faulty wiring. Is the higher fret access (past the 20) on the jp15 really easy to get too? I thought it being a bolt on would make it not as comfortable as a neck through ?

      You probably say this because you've never played one. Value is relative but for me, a comfortable fast playing and great sounding guitar is worth the money. Especially with all of the premium features it comes with.
