- My mom is extremely scared of spiders... But to cure her fear, I decided to buy the coolest spider species in the world (Goliath Bird-Eating Tarantula). This spider is able to grow to 1 foot long, shoot poison hairs out of it's back, and literally eat birds. In this video I build a home for it, and showcase it to my mom.

The spider you refer to Theraphosa blondi, lives in burrows on the ground and rarely preys on birds. It got this nickname from an 18th century engraving, showing it eating a hummingbird. Possible but very unlikely since T. Blondi does not build webs. It is not an arboreal (tree dwelling) animal so it would rarely even encounter a bird in the wild. Also its hair is not poisonous. Please be accurate. Here is an interesting fact. People actually eat this spider in S. America. Its said to have a taste somewhat similar to shrimp. "Pass the spider", no thanks!
