    Hey 2.7L F150 owner here, and you wanna launch at 2500rpm it’s the sweet spot. If you just keep it on the gas as much as you possibly can without moving you’ll 1) not have enough boost (cause it’ll just open the waste gate) 2) you’ll burn down the motor. Gettin too hot.

    I have no experience with the Chevy, but I do have a 2018 f150 with the 2.7......with a tank of 93 octane, my truck feels like a magic carpet, all you have to do is almost think about accelerating, and the truck just goes and goes. With a tank of 87 octane, the truck will go, but you have to use more pedal, and it almost feels like you have to push the truck to make it go fast. The difference is "Night and Day".

    I bought a 2022 2.7 Silverado after the AFM destroyed my 5.3 in my 2018 Silverado. Honestly am really impressed with the little truck engine. The low end torque is very diesel like. I did take the 2.7 ecoboost for a ride and yes it is much faster. To me it came down to value and towing capability. The ford had a 3:15 rear ratio and a 6500 pound towing capacity. The little 4 had a 9000 pound towing capacity which fits my camper much better. With the truck shortage you can only get what’s on the lot.

    • @Yung_Hefty
      @Yung_Hefty Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it’s all about the gearing and tow packages and such. The motors from both GM and Ford are more than capable of towing but it’s all down the specifics. My 2.7 has 3.73 gears and a 11k towing capacity. I’ve got the Texas edition with the luxury package and max towing all ordered special before Covid and such. But yeah in this day and age what’s there is basically all your options so I don’t blame you for picking the GM and it’s not a bad choice what so ever. Anyways my point is both motors are great. I’m really impressed with them and I think naturally aspirated v8’s are out dated.

    Anyways I’ve got a fully loaded 2017 3.5 ecoboost with the 10 speed. Bone stock I averaged 9.3 1/8 miles. I now have a 5 Star 93 octane tune and am in the high 7’s 1/8th mile. It’s beyond stupid fast now. 😂 Sooooooo much fun though.

    You cannot run the cheap gas if you’re gonna run a turbo vehicle. I saw an article on car driver were they tested the Ford eco-boost trucks with cheap 91 gas in California versus good 93 gas from the East Coast. It was a noticeable difference in those two points. Let alone 5-6 points if you can get 93 versus 87. It was as significant as 2 to 3 tenths from the 0 to 60 up till like up to/over a half second in a quarter mile. remember that was just a difference from 91 to 93… These trucks are smart enough to instantly read the fuel and all the acting and retard the timing anytime I see that nation specially depending on if you’ve got crappy fuel winter blend is going to be worse than summer fuel anyways, there’s probably a considerable amount of performance to be gained in that Chevy by running premium fuel and adding an octane booster. Now mind you if you do the same thing in the Ford I believe the Ford truck is still gonna be faster I’m just trying to give you some tips on how to make your Chevy run better if that’s what you’re after. winter fuel 87 octane is probably the worst thing you can run in that truck with a turbo it probably detonates so early in making power that I love to see what it makes on the Dino versus what it’s advertised right now. I’m actually considerably under powered right now.

    Seems as though a re run with both using the same gas is in order. I’ve owned many forced induction vehicles factory or not and most are tuned to advance spark and with dohc even possibly phase the cams to maximize power and efficiency. The vehicle will advance until it gets knock and then retards back slightly(protecting the engine from detonation). Of course the knock is pushed further away the higher thE octane is (reluctance to burn/ resist knock). Why e85 makes most power cheapest if properly utilized.

I have a 05 Impala SS with the dinosaur pushrod 3.8 iron block/iron heads , antiquated Eaton M90 Gen 3 supercharger with a 3.5" pulley, it only weighs 3600 pounds and it does 8.70s at 81mph in the 1/8th.
