People that make fun of this engine are just showing their ignorance. I love old stuff, but I'm not offended by new stuff. I have a '71 Buick Riviera with a 7.5L V8 (455) it weighs 4500lbs and is rated roughly 330hp and 500lb torque gross. Probably closer to 260hp net. At run what you brung my best time was 16.2 in the quarter. This 2.7 is beating an engine almost 3 times its size. Sure, the 455 has more potential, but we are not talking hypothetical.

A friend of mine has the same engine in his Silverado and he launches it in AWD at 3800 rpm. It launches good but runs a 15 flat at best. I was just messing with you. I had to put a K&N cai, muffler/resonator delete, canned tune and vette servo in to hit 14.98. Thats on an 09 with the 5.3.

It's a truck, with a turd for an engine.

lol, thats a intersting remark. Personally I really like the motor and most people I know who have driven them feel that way too.

@@JrsGasolineAlley Compared to my truck, it is a turd. A 4 cylinder has no place in a truck. That engine is for a school girls car, and I can't see anyone realistically walking into a GM dealer and picking this out for a truck.
Yes, I'll have that slate blue with a 2.7 turbo please😆

The 2.7 turbo has more power and torque then the 4.3 v6

@@Shabnation Yes it does. It is also comparable to the 5.3 in 0-60 times, however, it belongs in a Malibu. GM could have at least turbocharged the 4.3 to run with the Ford.

I really think it’s a good motor. I traded my GMC in for a new 2021 6.2/10 speed on a Friday night. By the time we finished the deal...it was to late for them to prep my new truck and I was given a 2020 with the 2.7 for the weekend. That thing really has torque just above idle and is much better than the 4.3. The big question is how will it hold up in a few more years. I would have zero nerves about the 2nd gen 2.7ecoboost motor... but I have two co workers who had expensive failures on their gen 1 eco boost motors (a timing chain and a blown turbo). If the longevity is there and GM gradually ups the already generous power...they have a nice light duty truck on their hands.
