    I was just looking for a good ITX motherboard for a non-k Raptor Lake CPU. Appreciate the clean and simple test results! Now I'm wondering when the Raptor Lake non-k SKUs are gonna launch and if AMD will have their Zen 4 with Vcache CPUs out by then.

    • @L91
      @L91  Před rokem +1

      Intel non-k sku's shouldn't be too far out, certainly much earlier than Zen 4 3D V-Cache CPUs

    • @yaoquansong

      @@L91 Got it. I was planning on pairing something like the i7-13700 non-k (I heard the SKUs below the i5-13600k are refreshed Alder Lake, not Raptor Lake) to go with this board, vs something like a 7600x3d or 7800x3d on a B650 itx board. But it Zen 4 3D V-Cache is much later, then I'm gonna try to go for the Intel pairing. Gonna be a lot less expensive too I imagine.

    Does this motherboard support Resizable BAR? I'm planning to use an Intel ARC GPU in this motherboard and ARC really prefers ReBAR support.

    I have this motherboard in a Velka 5 with a 12400F and RX 6650 XT, works quite well. Only thing I don't like is the Armory Crate software, it's absolutely abysmal.

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir Před rokem +1

      Idk if it's still relevant, but you gotta check if the board ships with the BIOS version 1620 or higher. Some of the newer produced ROG B660-I boards come with updated BIOS for 13th gen. Any BIOS version below 1620 does not support 13th gen and have to be manually flashed from USB (no BIOS flashback button on board).
      If you are unsure what version BIOS your board shipped with, you can usually find it on the barcode label printed on the board itself, there should be a 4 digit number somewhere on the barcode representing the BIOS version. Mine came with 1620 BIOS pre installed and my 13900K worked directly with no BIOS update required.

    Have you had a chance to test is-60 evo? Maybe it can fit without bottom fan?

    • @gencoserpen1260
      @gencoserpen1260 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Have you tried it ? I own a IS-60 evo mounted on an Asrock Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX board and I had to take the bottom fan out because it made contact with the m.2 heatsink. If I rotate 180 degrees with heat pipes pointing at the m.2 then it works on mine as long as you are using shorter RAM modules.
      This Asus board is very heavily built up I am pretty sure the bottom fan would have to be removed in both orientations. Even without that fan the IO shroud is a couple mm taller than typical motherboards so may be hard to clear and if we decide to have the cooler heatsink cover the RAM instead of IO then there is possibility of contact with the VRM heatsink.
      I do plan on upgrading to a 13600k eventually but I haven’t seen a single person post a photo of Asus b660i/b760i with IS-60 Evo installed so I’m nervous.

    • @galafendouorden
      @galafendouorden Před 9 měsíci

      @gencoserpen1260 Sorry, I haven't tried, I used it with my previous build with r5 5600x on x570i mobo, so I just left it here and installed another heatsink. Risk wasn't worth the hastle(
      I've used thermalright axp120 on b760 in orientation towards ram. Overall, it fits, but 1200 (my sff case is not compatible with 1700 mount) overlapping with some elements on mobo, so I have to grind mounting rings a bit to make sure they dont put any pressure on these tiny elements, I dont know what asus thought when making such a bad design decision

    • @galafendouorden
      @galafendouorden Před 9 měsíci

      @gencoserpen1260 just in case: id cooling is going to release is-67 or something like that, which doesn't have a bottom fan and has better compatibility with the majority of motherboards.

    • @gencoserpen1260
      @gencoserpen1260 Před 9 měsíci

      @@galafendouorden yeah the IS-67 and AXP120 would be a better match for a 13600k anyway. From what I've read, best case scenario after undervolting a 13600k is 145W power draw on full load and that is still a bit too much for my IS-60 which can only dissipate roughly 130-135W heat in my Lian Li Q58 case.
      I was trying to avoid the 67mm cooler category as my case has exactly 67mm clearance and that will result in some turbulence noise (IS-60 fan only makes a light woosh noise, it is 3mm away from the mesh panel) but I'll probably end up getting the IS-67 when it is available if only for its simplicity of installation and compatibility.

      @L91  Před 10 měsíci

      @gencoserpen1260 this is B660-I, not B760-I. That said, I don't think there is any physical differences between the two. I've haven't personally tried IS-55 with B760-I, but it certainly does make contact with the side VRM heatskink on B660-I. I can't speak for other people or their own experiences or what they are comfortable with. You'll have to ask them.

      @@L91 Not all boards need to update BIOS, some of the more recently produced ROG B660-I boards come with BIOS ver. 1620 pre installed, which supports 13th gen out of the box. Got my 13900K working right out of the box with no BIOS update required. Usually you can find a bar label on the front of the motherboard, where the BIOS version will be written. If it says 1620 or higher, the board is good to go for 13th gen Intel cpus. So either check on the board itself, or ask retailer if they can disclose what BIOS version the board shipped with.
