Lyrics:
I never believed in the robber
I never saw nobody climb over my fence
no black bag, no gloved hand
I never believed in the robber
I figured everything he took was gone
nothing to do, nothing to be done
I never believed in the robber
no I never believed in the robber
You never believed in the robber
You thought; a robber must hate you to wanna take from you
The robber don’t hate you
You never believed in the robber but the robber never believed in you
He never saw you, he only saw what he would be allowed to do
no, the robber don’t hate you
The robber don’t hate you
He had permission, permission by words
permission of thanks, permission of laws, permission of banks
white table cloth dinners, convention centres, it was all done real carefully
Make real imagination, make unreal that which can be taken
turn your gaze from the window’s light
turn your attention to this sharp knife
I never believed in the robber
When I was young, I learned how to make love to the robber
to dance with the other
to wring from his hand the touch of a lover
I never believed in the robber
Nobody taught me nothing was mine
if nothing was mine, taking was all there was
looting at dawn looting at dusk
Hold open the gates for the want of lust
All I saw was the dust, kicked up - Hudba
Pure perfection.
The Weather Station + Weyes Blood + Perfume Genius = the holy trinity of modern art pop.
This ancient toad us going to check out all three deeper.
St. Vincent, too!
@@ajnahavandi St. Vincent is more of an indie rock act
Yeah! :D
Give Julia Holter her credits, too! If ya haven't listened to her music, and like those three artists, you will enjoy. I promise!
I'm hearing echoes of Talk Talk's 'Happiness is Easy' here; wonderful tune!
This is the closest to the genius of Talk Talk I've ever heard.
The Colour Of Spring 💚
This song has haunted me for days. You can't help but acknowledge how sophisticated the arrangement and production are.
Feel free to also "acknowledge" the is lttle more than a sped up Talk Talk tune, musically.
@@tenthletter2678 What is your preference for music? If you don't mind me asking.
I'm conducting a survey, and as of now, I have you pegged as a Looney Tune.
But Hey! I might be wrong about my assessment of your comment,
and I don't mind eating humble pie,
@@vtwintora 😆
@@MrPencilcelebs You Jim, are very easily amused. Might wanna look into that.
@@tenthletter2678 omg I totally don’t know how I did that! I remember the comment tho so I could have hit a button!
I can't get over how beautifully intricate this song is
You call this intricate
Oh these boiling emotions with that frozen delivery, it's so mesmerising... Tamara is a one of a kind messenger and still growing
this.

Pressing play for a second time.
"He never saw you, he only saw what he would be allowed to do"
A stand out album this year.
This is, by far, the best song I’ve heard in a long time; from any artist. The vocals, the strings, the winds. Amazing, truly amazing.
👌🏻
Some of the best lyricism I’ve ever heard/read
This is great, sounds so much like talk talk - happiness is easy
I think Bowie would approve; musically and fashion wise. it takes a lot of confidence to wear a suit made of mirror shards.
Saxophone soloing at the end reminds me of the guitar soloing in David Bowie's I can't give everything away
That's it! I knew I recognized the Black Star influence, but it's I Can't Give Everything Away that I know this from, which also a phenomenal track.
@@RobynHanson yeah it has that same feel doesn't it
It totally reminds me of Blackstar
★ is the first thing that came to mind when I first heard this song on the radio.
Deep cut, but it also reminds me of the saxophone in the song "Tiedo" by Baaba Maal.
Got an old Talk Talk feel to it
Indeed and that can only be a good thing. Miss Mark Hollis.
Holistic in all senses - pure presence -honest and to the bone! Exceptional
Just saw them open for First Aid Kit, absolutely fantastic band!! Was incredibly moved by their set
The horns.....and the vocal. Great music.
You are a magnificent discovery for me !!! Wow !!!
This song sounds amazing when listened to at high volume.
This. Is completely fascinating and alluring. Wow.
This is truly beautiful. A big THANK YOU to all people involved!
This is the most mesmerising song I've heard for ages. Absolute quality. Thanks 6 Music for playing it!
Everyone is bringing up Talk Talk, but the arrangements in this song remind me the most of the song "Tiedo" by Baaba Maal.
I listen to a lot of new music, am constantly searching for new tunes and new (to me anyways) artists. In a good month I'll find maybe ten to fifteen songs that really stand out for me, and about maybe thirty or so that I'll bookmark as worth checking out for future reference. In the course of a year I will find three or four songs that I have to listen to over and over again. This song is the first one I've heard this year that fits into that last category. This is an excellent song that is well worth checking out.
Oh my godddd, I’ve been following The Weather Station for YEARS now, since their first album (I was 15 haha) and wow, their style and sound has grown so much, I’m here for itttttt
Thanks for telling me about how amazing they are haha. I am overwhelmed with how good this song is.
We all need this gorgeous richness right about now. Amazing song. Thank you Tamara and crew!
This is that kind of surrealism I need)))😊🤯🧡
All I can say is Wow. I love the direction the music is going. Still hard not to make some Joni comparisons! And this video, damn. Gave me chills. Something about it speaks to me. The Weather Station has always spoken to me, tho. Can't wait to hear a new album.
This is immense.
Wow! Amazing song. I hear a strong TALK TALK Colour of Spring / Laughing Stock influence. Love it!
yes!
I genuinely thought it was a Talk Talk B-side / unreleased track from the Colour of Spring when I listened to it in a half daze on the radio early this morning. Great track
@@MelMelis ditto!
This ^^
Did Tim friesse green produce for this
Love this OMG! Salutations to the universe!❤🖤💚💛
There is some originality brewing here.. definitely my favourite so far ;)
Mark Hollis would have loved this. Amazing song. Thanks.
Yeah, I was thinking this sounded like something from The Colour of Spring. The drum is just like Happiness is Easy.
Yes!
You think Mr Hollis would "love" to be ripped off? Let's preface such absurd thoughts with "I think" or "I believe".....or just not touch the keyboard.
@@tenthletter2678 Hahaha, oh I'm so sorry I won't do it again papa.
@@tenthletter2678 You will do this on every comment?

I am listening to the Weather Station for the very first time and it certainly will not be my last. Tamara Lindeman's haunting vocals touch you deeply, at the interoceptive level. That can only happen when something visceral as human nature responds deep inside you. Just as the 8th sense of your interoceptive gut feeling projects your body awake, Ms. Lindman's beautiful voice makes you feel it!
Watching Ms Lindman in her original avant-garde music video, I can see in her face and eyes, that she is restrained. And that is what makes her so damn special.
When she looks into the camera, it is but a mirror of yourself hearing the keys to our internal bells going off inside us. When you feel it wake up! Weather Station is another prime example, of how artists will save us.
I know this woman wants to howl like a wolf, but she is tempered, and her delicate balance between chaos and order brings a ethereal quality to her singing. Tamara Lindman is a real gem here, her voice echoes the same delicacy and extraordinary intrinsic strength of Kate Bush.
I believe that artists such as Tamara will make a far greater impact on helping tune us back to our ecological nature. It will never be the climate change heroes that are constantly propagated across our LED screens, orchestrated by the very same 1 percenters who raped and pillaged our earth and bodies in the first place.
It will be the artists who make you feel it. Who understands that we must go deeper inside us, the fearless who can plunge into what’s deep inside all of us, beyond the surface. It will be artists like Tamera who has run with the wolves to cry out loud. Because when you feel it- wake up!
Culture is a plot against the expansion of consciousness. The lies we tell ourselves, that everything will be ok. What's lacking in the Western mind, is the sense of connectivity and relatedness to the rest of life, the atmosphere, the ecosystem, the past, our children's future.
If we were feeling those things we would not be practicing culture as we are.
Musicians would not be creating for the algorithm. They would be doing what Weather Station is doing. Helping us feel it- so we can wake up!
Wonderful.
Very powerful, can't stop listening to this song
Astounding. Thank you.
I kept on watching the scene from 0:55 until the microphone comes, because I was mesmerized by her facial expressions. It's a strange emotion to convey: I never believed in the robber, and when she smiles at 1:11 it blows my mind. I think she'd be a fantastic actress.
I think she has been active as an actress since her teens.
@@jakehopgood7446 Oh! Nice!
WHAT A SONG.
Holy Moly... I'm not so sure what I just watched... it was awesome, scary, surreal, dreamlike and yet I totally related! I'm going to look at more of their catalog for sure!
Just stunning. Wow!
Next level. Hope you never comercial, you just save the 2020 and 2021.
That was absolutely brilliant. HOLY SHIT!
She’s like a cool blend of Kate Bush, Natalie Merchant, Talk Talk and The Blue Nile. Stellar stuff.
I was thinking Tracey Thorn
Beth Gibbons from Portishead as well.
@@mrdog66 Beth Orton too lol
Definitely Talk Talk
Christine McVie
Bonnaroo 2022 has brought me here. Thursday is gonna be dope!!
How has this song only that amount of views? Brilliant tune and video to match.
Gotta love the double drums.
I've been reeeeally hooked on this album
Tamara, this is brilliant and emotive and ugh so much.
Beautiful & compelling ... totally hooked!
This is … extremely good on all counts
Colour of spring
The music video is like a deleted scene from Twin Peaks!
I can't believe Ill see her at Bonnaroo
The best piece of music I have heard in a very long while. the production has stepped up to lift the songs
That mirror suit is amazing! Love the video and tune :)
This is an awesome song! Thanks for keeping it human!
can’t stop hearing “rubber” as if the song is about a couple who neglects contraception.
Reminds me of 'Rubberband Girl' by Kate Bush.
Oh, so smooth and mellow. Nice!👍🌄
Love it, Tamara.
New to this band. Very new. Thanks to R6M today.... 30 secs into what turned out to be this song, my ears pricked up and I jotted The Robber down. Album will be on preorder in the new year. Staggering
I'm here because I just read a review on pitchfork about this being about capitalism.
Amazing
Wooowww holy crap!!
That is amazing. You are wonderful
Now this is a song honnnney !!!!
Love this!
Hell yes
absolutely brilliant!!
in norway it reached 33 on itunes, congrats!!!!
This is fantastic. So cool!!!
Outstanding... ⚡️🔥⚡️
Stunning. Completely agree with the Talk Talk comparisons, fronted by Heloise Letissier. Can't stop playing this.
Amazing song and very good clip.
This is stellar stuff...it’s been a while since an album moved me like this...will be picking this up on vinyl soon
Such a wonderful song and video
Discovered this band from hearing their song "Parking Lot" on Sirius XMU, and after watching the video, saw a link to this one in the sidebar and so decided to check it out. Wow! Another great song, and I absolutely love this video. So ingeniously filmed!
Incredible tune and singer!

Love It Chilled But Unsettling Great
Very nice song!
Brilliant
I am fascinated by this song.
Haven’t heard owt this good since Hats by the Blue Nile...
Blue Nile, amazing band, more haunting than this, surprised anyone else had heard of them.
I only just discovered Robber this morning on a music video tv station and it has grabbed my attention in same way that Tinseltown did way back in the 1980s. These songs are real keepers.
