One of the questions you have asked me several times is if I thought Parfums De Marly Carlisle and Mancera Red Tobacco smelled similar. I always thought they did and I also thought Perris Monte Carlo Bois D'Oud had similarities to both of those fragrances as well and it was launched 3 years prior to the first of the choices, Parfum De Marly's Carlisle which came out in 2015. Bois D'Ooud by Perris Monte Carlo launched in 2012. So have you compared Parfums De Marly Carlisle with Mancera Red Tobacco? Do you smell the similarities? Tiziana Terenzi has created their version of Carlisle called "Arrakis".Very smooth and almost 95% to PD Carlisle. Check it up
In the current age of reformulations, Mancera deserves great praise for producing such strong performance across their range, with red tobacco being a great example. Personally, I don't subscribe to the philosophy of constantly having to reapply weak fragrances - life is far too short for this type of nonsense. I can kinda forgive the cheapie brands like Zara, but the dearer designer brands have no excuse and I think we should collectively avoid buying overpriced watery offerings.
Performance at the price of extreme synthetic smell. I prefer a balance

RT is the most intense perfume I have ever smelled. Startes as a chemical explosion similar to Chernobyl. Super duper uncomfortable opening. Do not think of using it in a small rooms meetings nor on car trips. It calms down a bit after half an hour/ One hour and turns into a kind of vanilla-tobacco heaven but still sharp and can cut through any kind of cold weather and keep every eskimo warm throughout the winter.
Everyone is going to smell you, it's inevitable. do not spray more than 2, I would say 1 holds plenty. Spray far away from the face / nose, otherwise everything you smell for 24 hours is RT. You do NOT need 120Ml of it. I will probably pass my 120ML on to my children and they will probably pass it on to their children. Do not spray this in summer/spring. Only the coldest winter. Preferably 15 minus degrees.

Own both. Bought rt over the summer and I'm waiting for it to cool down a bit to wear it. I didn't immediately think Carlisle when I sprayed it. More Cinnamon for sure. I love Carlisle and looking forward to wearing red tobacco. I own 8 pdm and only 1 mancera

Totally agree with you on Red Tobacco and Carlisle. So much so that I was disappointed when my blind bought Red Tobacco arrived as I felt it would be redundant.They aren’t clones but they are either brothers or first cousins. They don’t smell identical but are totally reminiscent of each other. Other reviewers have told me they smell nothing alike because they don’t have a super similar note breakdown, particularly when it comes to the tobacco. They trust their eyes more than their nose apparently, which doesn’t seem too bright when it comes to how fragrances smell.

I have old batch probably 2015 and 2019 batch carlisle and mancera red tobacco.. There are a few things common in newer carlisle and red tobacco.. Newer carlisle version is slightly rough if compared to 2015 ( but no way near the roughness of red tobacco still) 2015 one is monsterous in projection but really smooth and my favorite of the two Carlisles ..

I have yet to try Red Tobacco, but i get major similarities with Carlisle and my recently acquired bottle of Side Effect from Initio, not redundant but close enough, i wouldn't say that i get the similarity with Bois D'Oud though, i think that Rouge Saray by Atelier Des Ors also kind of had that dna mixed with some of that Oajan/Ambre Narguille vibe!
I think all 3 are great. But hands down Carlisle is the best!
I own Red Tobacco and love it. Yes it's a bit screechy and chaotic at first, but it smooths out after half hour or so, and just keeps getting better. PDM are just too pricey, and there are never good deals on them. Will try and hunt down the third one you have. Thanks for the vid.
Honestly tony ur not really missing anything special with PDM I have carlisle and layton they are Good but definitely Overatedddddd in my OPINION and I would definitely test before buying it's not for everyone as ppl on youtube like to overhype this stuff

I love Red Tobacco. I just got it yesterday and I can't get enough of this smell. It has a shoe polish vibe as if they put a lot of piped tobacco on expensive Oxford shoes and kept scrubbing it. Smells a lot better in the air than it does on skin. This is an alpha male frag that takes balls to wear.

Very in-depth review! I am a woman but I love to wear Carlisle on myself. I tried the Red Tobacco and they’re similar but Red Tobacco is more synthetic and screechy for me. Carlisle is much more refined like you said.

I've noticed recently after going to my local Neimans that Tiziana Terenzi Arrakis also smells similar but with a drier dustier feel to it.

You can buy 3 or 5 Red Tobacco for the Carlisle price.It's the same Cedrat Boise x Aventus Dilema. Mancera is offering the best value,price and performance combo.

I ended up selling off Layton and Herod so I have to default to Red Tobacco for the time being.
I much prefer Mancera as a house overall but I still want to be fair and give Carlisle a sniff.

I have Carlisle and PMC BD, both great fragrances and enjoy wearing them. To me PMC BD smells sweeter than Carlisle. PMC BD is more similar to Side Effect, to me.
It’s the green apple together with the spices/oud that unites them imo. I can’t stand that accord. Luckily the apple dissipates after a while.

Amazing review. I own both Carlisle and Red Tobacco and I find Carlisle to be more appealing whereas Red Tobacco is way more piercing and polarizing. I know this video is about 4 months old already and many comments have gone by but I wonder if you have already done a side to side comparison of MFK BR540 EDP, Mancera Instant Crush and Parfums de Marly Kalan. I believe that would be an amazing video showing comparison between the three
Dude Instant Crush should not be mentioned with BR540. They are NOTHING alike
I got some BR540 samples on the way so I haven’t smelled them yet but Kalan and instant crush were nothing alike for me. Instant crush was great smooth and sweet while kalan was spicey and not appealing at all.
I love Red Tobacco ...... and wear it year round sooooooooo.... I won't be buying Carlisle since they share similar vibe...ill now switch my focus to oajan instead. Great comparison as per usual. Looking forward to more of your amazing content.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I own both RT and Carlisle...RT smells more approachable...great for a cool Fall daytime wearing. Carlisle is immaculate and night time PLUS wearing when I smoke cigars at the local cigar lounge. Both have their place and are AWESOME!!!!!

Red Tobacco is noooooiiiiicceee! Carlisle is really nice also but Mancera out the 2 is my preference. Both blended really well and huge sillage definitely a must in the fall and winter.

Have both, love both, more compliments goes to Red Tobacco, and yes they're similar to my nose, when I go to a more formal scenario definitely Carlisle to a more casual meeting Red Tobacco.

They are very very different to me.
The similarity ends with the obvious sweet tobacco accord.
To me the Mancera is a screechy synthetic red hots candy with a clashing tobacco accord.
Carlisle is a completely different wearing experience. Much smoother and refined, And very different note profiles.
...the whole gender thing is absolutely absurd too. Feminine/Masculine is about personal scent memory, not a wand waved over the fragrance in a marketing meeting.

Red Tobacco and Odyon Scorpion Intense are my strongest beast mode fragrances. Layer the two and you will FLEX on ANY other fragrance that anyone around is wearing.

Carlisle and Red Tobacco are pretty close, I owned and sold both. Very similar I feel also to Blessed Baraka by Initio and the latest one in the line Triumph of Bacchus by Argos. I kept the Triumph of Bacchus, to me it felt like the smoothest version if them all.

Personally prefer Bois D'oud by a large margin.
There is similarities but like what sebastian said, it's less than 60% similarities.
Carlisle definitely sweater, slightly moist tobacco and heavy in vanilla.
But
Red tobacco is less sweet, more synthetic, heavy dry tobacco and more patchouli than vanilla.
Had samples of both, I can see similarities, but 100% different for me... RT smells like shisha hookah Tobacco to me. Carlisle smells like sweet medicinal syrupy goodness... I wore 4 sprays of RT to my college graduation last December to assault the noses of the deans of the schools 🤷♂️😁

RT all the way! Just two little red tobacco sprays all over my body when I get out of the shower in the morning and I feel incredible for the whole day... 😋🤩 I don't think Carlisle smells the same, for me it's a fragrance where I find almost no tobacco but a lot of fruit...
I think Initio Blessed Baraka is more similar to Carlisle.
Carlisle was my favourite but I am finding it difficult to get hold of at the moment

I ordered my Carlisle
from Parfum de Marly Boutique in NY a month or so ago.
It is sold out everywhere on the internet and so many other PDM fragrances because of the epedemic.
I was told, however PFD Boutique should finally get shipment end if this week.
The problem is, you can't buy Carlisle right now because it's just sold out everywhere and isn't stocked.
Will be available soon in October at the US boutique.

Mancera red tabbaco I got yesterday. I don't know what people talking about opening too harsh. It's not harsh to my nose. It's smells good. Picked up thierry mugler pure havane from marcary for $120 95 percent full bottle. It's smells good but more intense than Mancera. Mancera red tabbaco is $88 from gift express

I love the red tobacco its perfect and so rare to find a true beast mode but I found it in this. Parfums are extremely hard to last on me but this does. I'm wanting to try more Mancera but I'm scared they will not be as beast mode. If anyone knows other frgrances from Montale or Mancera that is as beast mode as Black Aoud and The best Red Tobacco please let me know. I've been looking at intense cafe, instant crush, and Aoud Exclusif.

I going to visit the Dior Boutique over there and see if they have Vetiver, Mitzah, Santal Noire and smell Eau noire.
The online French Dior does have Eau Noire, Granville, Cuir ..., Santal Noire available.

Not even close to the same but side effect is WAY better
After I bought Rt I cant see a reason to also buy Carlisle. The difference aren´t that big that I need both.

I love the Red Tobacco because of the Cherry smell & smells exactly the same from spray to dry down hours later!…also reminds me of my uncle smoking his pipe with the cherry tobacco…
Carlyle is ok but changes after dry down which didnt do anything for me, as most of PDM colognes…except for Sedley which I own with a back up bottle!
