    I'm french and i think that in Korea people tend to be even more "stylish" than french, we like to wear comfy clothes too, and young french people are influenced by american fashion. :)

      +Lee Bom Yi I thought it was the other way around. Americans are influenced by European/French fashion. I thought people thought Americans were bad at fashion (other than maybe streetwear)

      Bruh in France almost all youngsters are wearing Stan Smiths XD
      And many girls look up to French youtubers that have an American style or look up to American youtubers

    Bro, not only just Koreans, but Asians in general know how to freaking dress. In Japan, they don't even care what the heck you wear. Japanese people can go full extreme with their outfits, but still fit in no matter what. They always have their own little groups, which is amazing. When it comes to my personal style, Korea is almost exactly how I want it. In Korea, they either dress very casual, or very dressy. And I LOVE, the matchy matchy couples tradition. I'm going to bring some Asian traditions and show it off, especially where I'm at. I wish I can match with a bae, but I'm forever alone. XD Meh.

      Agreed. In Thailand too everybody is so fashionable and we just wear the cutest outfits we can find every day but... never wear them again loool. Here clothes tend to be very cheap even the cutest ones that would cost hundreds of dollars somewhere else can cost like.... 10$ here so we tend to constantly buy new fashionable clothes and don't really wear them again xD

    I'm from Belgium and when I moved to the USA, I got asked why I dressed up everyday to go to school. Many of the students in my class were in sweatpants or in their pajamas. I explained that in my country it is disrespectful to show up to school dressed inappropriately. The educators will send you home to change if you show up in sweatpants. School is supposed to teach you how to live in society, try to show up to a job interview in sweats with bead hair and a coffee mug... It's really a cultural thing, my grandparents are always dressed so well, and my grandma makes it a priority to make sure that my grandpa's shirts are perfectly ironed as well as his pants. Younger generations are now a bit more free from that, but people are dressed to go to school or work, and in most occasion where you'll be in close proximity with other humans, yes, even in grocery stores :p

      To be honest, I wish the U.S. was more like that. Because it's so normal to be dressed down in public, it can often be hard to find clothes in a style you like in a size that fits. And when you do find it, it costs like $150 for a shirt >.

  • @LittleMissSquirrel
    @LittleMissSquirrel Před 8 lety +53

      That just means you have to be a bit more creative than others ;) I'm pretty short so I have to improvise and even alter my clothes when they don't fit properly. Everyone is different, but that makes us all special!! What a boring world we would live in if everyone looked/dressed exactly the same. :)

      +Olivia Giles I completely disagree. Like Megan said, people in america tend to choose comfort and practicality over style. And again, its just a difference in fashion. It has nothing to do with weight. I'm in college and live in a city so people dress up here a lot, but just in different way.

    I'm studying abroad in Korea rn. When I went back to the States for break, my friends say my style is "dressed up" but in Korea, what I wear is normal? Haha. I didn't realize it until they pointed it out. You can wear skirts, dresses, and cute things here so I really love it here. Probably buy more shirts before I go. It's also fun looking at street fashion.

    • @Debonair73
      @Debonair73 Před 8 lety +11

      +Zoë Wolfchild I'm assuming Korea is like paradise for petite girls. In the West, they probably wish they were more curvy but in Korea they are the ideal body type. I notice that a lot when I watch 1Million videos. These really tiny Western girls are just normal size in the dance class.

  • @adriana12995
    @adriana12995 Před 8 lety +9

    I totally agree with your first point of how we have another perceptive of how we should dress up. I am currently a college student and pretty much everyone here dresses like they just came out of the gym where as I always like to dress up. In my first year, I tried dressing down like everyone else but I realized there was no point in dressing in a way you don't want. I dress pretty girly and it is pretty rare to see a girl with a pink dress walking around school and although i do get stared at i just don't care anymore. I just don't like going to school like i just woke up.

  • @SakamotoSyd
    @SakamotoSyd Před 8 lety +12

    Even though most Koreans have great style, especially in Seoul...the thing I don't like about their fashion is that they all tend to look the same. Every guy have skinny jeans and a nice sweater. Every girl has a pleated A-line skirt and a tucked in over-sized shirt. When something becomes trendy everyone jumps on that trend and ends up looking like fashion clones.

    My makeup and fashion levels have definitely gone waaay up since moving here.
    I love how I get to dress a lot cuter then normal here. A lot more cute dresses, skirts, shirts... I adore it. But if I wore what I'm wearing now in Canada, I would definitely get stared at. Or get questions about (as you said) "why are you so dressed up"? It's a bit of a double edged sword. I like that I can be super casual in Canada without a problem, but at the same time - I don't always wanna get questioned just because I wanna look super cute.

    I see people dress like you in America all the time, I dress like that all the time. BEcause I love adorable clothing. America mainly loves sexy style clothing, more than cute/innocent clothing. But in New York you can wear whatever you want and barely anyone would judge you. Since in New York, you see anything. If you live in a more conservative state, then obviously people may stare at you strangely. But, it all comes down to confidence.

    Back in the day (I'm old enough to be your mom.), I used to always dress nicely when I went out of the house no matter what I had planned usually a nice dress, hair and makeup done and people would always ask me where I was going and why I was so dressed up. It feels nice to care about the way you look and I was comfortable in those clothes because it was my style. I could totally relate to this. I am looking forward to taking care of me again and getting back into fashion.

    I really hate the "ooh going somewhere special?" thing Americans say. Unless I'm wearing a cocktail dress or a huge gown, I want to be able to wear a maxi skirt without getting comments like that. In America its weird to wear a skirt to just go shopping when there's another person in the same store that's still in their pajama pants and a baggy tshirt. I guess people who present themselves nicely in America are seen as trying too hard which is a shame, because I buy these clothes for a reason lol. I would love for that opinion to change here, that's one thing I'm really jealous of in Korea.

    That France one though, that's kinda true. Like when I go out I feel like I have to dress up quite nicely (but it's a habit now)... I don't really know why... Haha, I see on instagram, a lot of girls in America wear sweatpants and a sweater or a t-shirt to go to school, in France no one really does that. (If you do, I'm not judging you, I'm not saying one's better than the other) :)

    moving to Korean recently I found out people here experiment a lot with fashion here. So even if you go all out and wear something really eccentric and funky people dont even stare at you as if it was something normal. There are two types of fashion here, the current trendy fashion that literally EVERYBODY wears, I mean 80% of the people wear the same style of clothing here. Then you have the 20% that really experiment and stand out.

I now want to dress to impress and before even going out I spend about 15 min trying to decide what outfit to pick. Gotta make sure I match. Btw if you see this Megan, if you're going to the meetup this weekend I'm looking forward to meeting you:) have an awesome day🤗

    I live in MS and I wear similar fashions to the pictures you showed. I do get a lot of compliments. I don't notice people staring. But my fashion changes with the seasons and even month to month. I am very fluid with it. For the past 4 years I mostly wore dresses and super sweet stuff but now I am wearing more crop tops and shorts with sketchers and more casual outfits.
