  • Warranty replacement of a rear shock with failing welds. Some maintenance and adjustments for your suspension that work and aren't as costly as cartridge kits.

The standard tracer is a good buy. Nitron rear shock, screen, eBay fjr panniers, slightly larger than gt, and you have a better bike ? than Gt, (minus cruise control though) for way less money.

I have always been one to push fluid changes as a very important key in machine longevity. Cars especially. Who ever changes their power steering fluid? rear end, even transmission? Some never do and their car life shows it. I have many examples to prove this but it is hard to even convince people to change their engine oil. Oh well.... Kudos to you Chuck.

I've kept all the fluids fresh in my 05 4Runner (including pwr steering fluid) and my fj-09. I had wanted to change the fork oil earlier, but just had to get my head around it. All oils wear out and it's just not that hard to change, but absolutely worth the effort.

SW Motech, it was listed for the FZ-09 on revzilla, but it fits perfectly. Not as strong as the Higdonian, but works.

Good video Chuck! What rear shock are you considering? I’m thinking about an upgrade because the Yamaha shock is a bit of a pain to adjust quickly.

K-Tech RCU Razor-R Lite Rear Shock Yamaha. I've seen some good reviews on these. $495 for the rear shock and it's completely serviceable. revzilla has them, they also have fork cartridges that are a direct drop in, but they're pricey and I'm still exploring other options for the forks.

Hi chuck. Did you ever consider trading in for the new tracer 900. I have the 2019 tracer. From what I have seen. A friend of mine has the 2015. And what a big difference between the two. Yamaha has corrected a lot of the issues you been going through. Just a thought.

I looked at the 2019 900 GT when I was waiting at the dealer and they were marked down a bit. I'd sure like to have one, but a new bike just isn't affordable for me now, so I'll just have to take care of my 2015.

I actually bought the standard tracer 900 not the gt where I’m from New York area. They only have in the gt model in that black which is ok. But those blue purple wheels are hideous and the silver side panels are horrible. I got the grey one and put the things I wanted on like Quik shifter and heated grips. And to be honest the tft screen is like so small I like the led dash much better. But already I got the new model with the things Yamaha has corrected and love the bike.
