    I have a 2020 Tracer 900 GT and I have been watching some of your videos which are very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    I have the GT it's a great bike, nothing comes close for value for money. I like the cruise control, heated grips, quick shift, TFT screen & the adjustable suspension over the standard Tracer. Chuck thanks for the update it's nice to hear from you. Frank.

    That good that you still like it. I'm liking my 2017 a lot. I have only put 2,100 miles on it so far (bought it 6 months ago brand new left over right before a 4 month deployment) but it's a very fun bike.

    Give Tutoro oiler a look. It's nice to not to have oil the chain so often. I agree, great bike.

    Im thinking of buying a used 2015 model. my local dealer has a really good deal on one. has a full remus exhaust system and some other mods done. 27k km so im guessing around 16k miles on it. Originally i went to testride a versys 650 but it left me kinda unsatisfied. the salesguy recommended id take the tracer 900 (thats how its called in europe) and my god! the engine left me with a huge grin that hasnt left my face since taking the testride 2 days ago lol. good to hear it has been so reliable to you and thanks for the info

      I still have mine and have since upgraded the suspension and done the major services. Valve clearance and swing arm. I suggest getting the valve clearance checked by 20k miles, my exhaust valves were all out of spec, but all good now.

    • @oldsmokie101
      @oldsmokie101 Před 4 lety +2

      Just an option. Get an air hawk inflatable pad. The sergeant seat is a bit meh for this bike, although superb on others.

    I am torn between getting this bike or the versey 650. I do a lot of commuting and touring and was just wondering about the seating positions on both. Are they pretty even for long rides? My girlfriend also rides a lot with me so the two up thing would concern me with power

    • @dogsnmotorcycles
      @dogsnmotorcycles  Před 2 lety

      Both are good all around bikes, but the FJ-09 is way more powerful. The seating position on both is about the same, the pegs are slightly further back on the Yamaha.

    • @dogsnmotorcycles
      @dogsnmotorcycles  Před 3 lety

      The handlebars were a bit buzzy at some speeds, but after installing different hand guards that had a little weight they're pretty smooth. Never noticed any buzzyness in the foot pegs, but I replaced them with FJR1300 rubber padded pegs anyway.

    Our local Yamaha dealer has a brand new 2015 just like yours leftover model. I can buy it for $7,500 but I've also located the same year with 7,000 miles in excellent shape for $5,500. What would you do?

    on my second tracer. there’s not much that will beat it for the money. Bought a cbf1000 3yrs ago which i didn’t get on with. A myriad of electrical problems. Went straight back to what worked.. no issues with either bike and 25k miles..

    • @dogsnmotorcycles

      If anything were to happen to my fj09, I would get a Tracer 900 GT. It really is the perfect bike for me.

    • @MatNewtonTrio
      @MatNewtonTrio Před 4 lety

      Chuck A. The only reason I didn’t get the new GT was I found a beautiful 2yr old bike with 2k miles basically a bargain! The Gt is a great step up in comfort and rider aids. I’ll probably demo one when the time comes!

    • @oldsmokie101
      @oldsmokie101 Před 4 lety

      Mat Newton The only reason for you to get GT is cruise control. You saved a load of money getting std, which will buy you new rear shock, Nitron or k tech, aftermarket (Oxford) heated grips and s/h eBay fjr panniers. You will have a better bike than GT for less than you saved.

    • @MatNewtonTrio
      @MatNewtonTrio Před 4 lety

      Old Smokie i’ve heard good things regarding updating the shock.. definitely the biggest issue although relaxed riding one up i don’t have so much of an issue.. I would love to get a the nitron and also get the front forks sorted/updated internals. The one big issue i never rectified was the screen.. i’ve had 3 different ones so far and still get the weird turbulence.. i’m 6’3 which doesn’t help.. My next update will be new rubber.. 👍

    • @dogsnmotorcycles
      @dogsnmotorcycles  Před 3 lety +2

      The Super Ten would be my trade of choice, but I'd like to ride one first. The thing I like best about the fj-09 is it's quickness and ease in about every situation. Chain maintenance is kind of a drag, but I like a quick bike.

    • @mtmarcy4495
      @mtmarcy4495 Před 3 lety +1

      Chuck, I agree completely. That crossplane triple was without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable engines I've ever ridden. I sometimes crave it even now. I will tell you however, that the comfort and feeling of "groundedness" of my Tenere, is an absolute pleasure. One of the first things I noticed after the swap, was the unwavering stability in any sort of wind. Where my FJ would get pushed around, as in a heavy crosswind or by a passing truck, the Tenere is pretty much unflappable. Just a couple of my observations that maybe you'll find useful when trade time comes. Love the channel.

    • @M3rover
      @M3rover Před 3 lety +1

      @@dogsnmotorcycles Thanks for he info... I was on the fence. I was concerned that the FJ-09 would have too much forward lean to make it comfortable on my wrists in the long term. Sounds like I should just get the FJ-09 despite tons of reviewer thinks Versys is THE best bike... ever. I fear that Versys just wont be powerful enough for two-up riding.
