It you watch pervious correspondence dinners (Trevor Noah, Roy Wood Jr.) you'll notice there is more balance in the jokes and there were more laughs. Jost's jokes were more one-sided and had more silence or light chuckles so he sorta did bomb. If you could hear the red head beside Biden go "GOOD GOOD GOOD" in the sea of silence then you know your jokes aren't hitting. There is a reason why he's only appeared on Weekend Update.
