The jury would have to take that into account in regard to his present testimony regardless of evidence. It would make Cohen look bad and, outside of the left, he doesn't look very credible to begin with.

Cohen could also have had mixed feelings about the pardon back then as he thought about the effect of all this on his family. Sometimes you can feel as if it is best to lean in one direction and later feel it's best to lean the opposite way. That's just being human, not necessarily lying. This seems like CNN trying to sensationalize this as "Cohen's lying."

Whether Cohen lied or not is dependent on the timing and context. It's possible to change one's opinion over time. Perhaps he was at one point open to a pardon, then at another time was not. Cohen isn't lying about Weiselberg's scribbling on the bank statement. Or the meeting with Pecker. That's independent evidence.

While Cohen still wanted to be part of Trump's group (and wanting to protect himself and his family), Cohen would have accepted a pardon from Trump. I think Cohen would now spurn any pardon from Trump.
