Yeah, to be honest, I was a bit skeptical whether I could tell the difference in image quality, but these things are as clear as not having them on! I've had to deal with color issues from every other ND filter I've tried, then fix it in post. Nothing with these! Pretty pumped on them so far!
Hey David, Great video! Just wanted to say that my GoPro PolarPro ND filters came with 3 little o-rings to install below the filter and make it completely water proof. I have had mine in plenty of water with no issues!
Hey David, yeah Polar Pro makes a solid filter. I've used their QuartzLine on my DSLR/Mirrorless cameras. Yeah they are pricier than many other options on the market. However their color neutrality is incredible, they feel good when you need to handle them too. Now I was just thinking, do they use the same quartz glass on the these filters you are testing? Keep up the work... your channel is crushing it!
I'm not sure if it's the same glass, but they are amazingly color neutral. I didn't do any color work to those clips at the end, just exposure adjustments. I was just saying that to someone else actually, it's like a true reduction of light, without any color shift that I need to fix in post. Love these things!
9:32 Hey so they are not waterproof , but with the GoPro hero 8 you cant remove the lense so I guess that solves that issue, but like you said I wouldnt use ND filters under water. I go scuba diving and water absorbs much more light
Much rather the GoPro lens version for use on a motorcycle. You know it's not going anywhere, especially at speed and it's replaceable. Not being removable on the 8 is really really annoying for the same reason, although obviously there'll probably be versions that go over the top for ND filters. If you swung your arm at full speed holding the camera would the filters on the Osmo fly off?
Been waiting for an update on that GoPro giveaway so Thanks for that! I may be crazy but it really looks like there isn't a need for the ND filter all the time. I am accustomed to using my GoPro for activities where a sharp freeze frame could be beneficial (fishing, kayaking, sports in general). Seems to me the ND filter approach would be better suited to cinematic style storytelling. Do I have the right gist of it?
correct, if you wanted to always be going for the crispest individual frames with the least motion blur then go for no ND and the fastest shutter speed. But for some videos that crisp shot looks very odd - consider when your frame rate is 30fps, but something is very fast moving and moves a lot within that 1/30th of a second between a new frame being shown - like when you see seagulls harassing drones. The bird doesn't move smoothly, you see crisp bird image at top of frame, then it teleports to bottom of frame, then the left, top, right,, and so on. (It's like watching a nightclub with strobes on). But if you used an ND to bring the shutter speed down (for longer exposure) the bird would move smoothly (though on a freeze frame it'd look blurry)
cant tell you how much the nd filters come in handy! i got Telesin nd filters for my gopro that slaps on the front, no case needed. works great with the gimbal (steadypro2). perfect setup to make smooth clear footage on the fly
My man! Im from Norway and i could really use a GoPro to film the cool northern lights over here! I am obsessed with Photo and filming and i would kill for that camera. Maybe this is my lucky day?
woo i would really like the hero 8! i go on a lot of trips and i’m going to be majoring in video production and editing next year for my first year of college, more cameras always help!
How about you bring up ND filters for the diving case for OCD people like me who don't want to damage the Gopro while riding enduro and still get a nice blur? I've been looking for adapters and what not but haven't found anything, at least not for the Hero 7 black.
I’ve been subscribed since you were on 10K subscribers, wow you have got so much subscribers so quickly, as I said in the last video I’m going on a trip to Nepal and it would be great to have this new GoPro, I will definitely use it and that’s about it, I’m a young dude , though I can’t say my age publically, but yeh, keep making your amazing videos and even if I don’t win this well... I’ll be unhappy but anyways keep making your videos and stay as you are
really a fan of this channel :) lots to learn though, and your vids are great !! even with my hero7 lol :) - hmmm Spotify - 'what are you doing tonight' niiiice :)
I don’t understand why people would “thumb down” any videos that David souls post!
AGREEEEE!!!
Also agreed!
Agree. Nothing to not like about this video. Just his opinion about filters.
You guys are too damn nice! ...but for real, what's with people that thumbs down videos?! 🤣🤣🤣
100% Polar Pro filters are life savers!! The cinema series are built really well and it's definitely noticeable when working with it!

The polar pro is known to have the worst vignetting from the shiny gold housing. you can fix it with some matte black spray paint tho
I have done all the steps for the givavay!😁
dude!!!!! your wife rocks in singing! we were in Vegas when she was playing at TI and saw the bands name and wondered who they were. well now I know!
That's awesome Justin! Did you get to see them perform?!
Sadly no because we didn’t know who they were we walked by. Now we will be definitely watching out for them.

I think this is a super secret spot for an entry haha, great vids bro!👍
Circular filters produce vignetting effect when we take ultra wide shots because they don't oversize.
I just wanted to say that your videos genuinely help me in shooting footage/pictures!
Keep up the great work! Anyways, good luck guys!
Great channel! I just got a hero 8 so I’m watching for tips
Great video. Those are really nice filters!
Suuuuuper nice! Like I said, not everyone needs filters that nice, but they're for sure the best filters I've ever worked with 🙌

You definitely deserve more subscribers, I love your videos ❤️

Back to your current video though.....
Need this video!!! Thanks David for the review. You rock
Have polarpro filters for my dji mavic air but not for my gopro hero 7 black. Thanks for the insight!
I think these filters would help in cinematic footage when you need an actual footage without a virtual filter.
Great review. Keep ‘em coming.
For sure Max! Next video should be the giveaway video! Whoop whoop!
For my GoPro, I find it easier to just buy ND filters for the after market vlogging case. 👍🏼
