Erector Spinae Block

First described as a novel technique by Forero et al, an interfascial plane block for management of thoracic neuropathic pain, with the potential for use in other areas for analgesia from T3-T9 levels.
This block is in many ways very similar to the RetroLaminar Paravertebral block described by Voscopoulos et al in 2013, where their injection ws slightly more medial over the lamina under the Longissimus muscle.

wat about patients in prone position post spine surgery probe position transverse gives better picture quality

No cases/clinical data yet of its use in Spine surgery. Probably can be done pre-incision at thoracic level in prone position for upper spine surgery, may need Bilateral block as there is cross innervation at midline. No recommendations can be given due to paucity of data . Extrapolating data from Lumbar levels, the block is called Thoraco-Lumbar interfascial block which has been shown to be useful in Spine surgery.
