You forgot to mention that later the Abbasid caliphate became a part of the Memluk empire. The Abbasid caliphs didn't have any authority in the Memluk empire but they had their religious role until Al-Mutawakkil Billah III abdicated the caliphate to the Ottomans after they invaded Egypt

The reason the first Bulgarian empire fell is mainly because Kievan Rus, they literally MASSACRED the population of Bulgaria in the eastern part and stealing all the riches. If it wasn't for them Bulgaria wouldn't have fallen against the Byzantines for sure
