- At 90, Shirley MacLaine Finally Names the Co-Star She Hated Most
Shirley MacLaine is one of the most talented actresses of her generation. She made her debut in “The Trouble With Harry” in 1955 and she’s had movie releases in 2022 and more upcoming projects. Oh, and by the way, she’s approaching 90 and she’s still acting! With a successful career that’s lasted so long, it’s clear that she’s a joy to work with on set. But - truth be told, she didn’t always feel that way about some of her co-stars. It didn’t affect her work and she always gave a great performance, but man, it’s a wonder she kept in the business even with her bad experiences. What are the times she absolutely hated her co-stars and this caused tensions on the set? What was her love life and personal relationships like? Join us as At 90, Shirley MacLaine Finally Names the Co-Star She Hated Most.

I think Shirley MacLaine is amazing. She lives her life as she chooses, she doesn't care what anyone else thinks . She lives her life to the beat of her own drum. We all deserve the right to pursue happiness. Of course she's a great actress, we are lucky to experience her talent. Bravo Shirley
To see her in The Apartment opposite Jack Lemmon was just delicious. She was 💯 perfect in that role. I literally was screaming at the screen. She wasn't acting.
Shirley was a marvelous entertainer. My favorites:
The Turning Point
The Apartment
Some Came Running
Steel Magnolias
Being There
Postcards from the Edge
She had the best legs, after Cyd Charrise, in Hollywood
I can't believe she is 90! She's had a long wonderful career❤
I cried all through Terms of Endearment which i saw in the theater in my twenties. Many years later, when my mother was dying of cancer, and screaming in pain, I WAS THE ONE running down the halls, yelling " Give my mother the shot:! I had worked in the medical field for 25 years by then, but it was Shirley McClain's character, that gave the chutzpah to do such outrageous things. I practically moved into that hospital, wearing the same scrubs, except my white lab coat showing I was a professor. I had promised her i would never let her die in the hospital, and met with committee after committee, signing her out on hospice two days before she died with her family, the nuns and the angels. It's one thing that makes me most happy to have done, and I had the example of just how to issue commands in a place where you have no authority and get things done! Thanks Shirley..using my husband's acct.
I love her in movies. I laughed until I cried in watching her in Steel Magnolias. I will cry again when the good Lord calls her home😢
Shirley MacLaine is one of the all time best. But this video, with its repetitive AI narration and images that continually fail to match the voiceover is distracting at best. She deserves better.
Have been a major fan since The Apartment. She's a strong,
assertive, motivated person -
and there's no fault in that.
I was a child extra on the set of Sweet Charity. She was not the nicest person.
Actors are human beings. Sometimes they don't get along. My son once worked at an exclusive Lodge I think in Colorado where the rooms were several hundred dollars a night. He helped Anthony Hopkins to his room and later when Hopkins requested another room my son helped move his luggage and other items the other room. Hopkins gave him a $100 tip.
Terms of Endearment. What an amazing film.
She's terrific. Love ya, Shirley.
Love, love, love Shirley McClaine
The Children's Hour (1961) was a good film, starring Shirley and Audrey Hepburn. Shirley’s character was in love with Audrey’s character. They opened an all girls school, and so much happened. I recommend seeing it, if you haven’t already.
I have always loved Shirley Maclaine. In thr 80's I sat close to her at a charity ballet performance. I was so starstruck.Saw her in 3 stage performances.A true legend.A true talent!❤
What an outstanding actress!!
Steel Magnolias was phenomenal. No one else could have played Weezer.
I have loved Shirley one of her great fans for years,
She is not only am Amazing Talent she is so Intelligent and lives true to herself and very Intelligent and speaks her truth teguarless of the ignorance of others.…. I respect her and admire her
She has given us do much in her work and her life

And your Life has been an Amazing One Thank you for the privilege of allowing us in. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was fortunate to see her to see her in concert at the London Palladium in the mid 1970s. She was beyond fabulous ❤
Wow! She looks exactly like her mother and her brother looks exactly like their father.
I've always thoroughly enjoyed Ms. MacLaine's performances my entire life.
She was wonderful in What a Way To Go.
My favorite Movie of Shirley MacClaine, was "My Geisha" So beautiful and so well made
I love her.. Always been a favourite actor.
Postcards From The Edge is a favorite.
SHIRLEY MACLAINE IS BY FAR THE MOST GIFTED DANCER/ACTRESS THAT EVER LIVED.
NO MATTER WHAT SHE PORTRAYS, IT IS AS IF YOU ARE RIGHT THERE AND INVOLVED. THIS WOMAN IS AS REAL AS THEY GET.
WHAT INTELLIGENCE AND DICERNMENT!
I SAW A VIDEO OF SHIRLEY GOING INTO TOWN WHERE SHE LIVES TO GET GROCERIES. SHE WAS EVERYBODY'S BEST FRIEND.
SHE DOESN'T PUT ON
AIRS AND MAKE AN ASS OF HERSELF, LIKE MOST.
I HOPE SHE LIVES FOR AS LONG AS SHE
WANTS.
Ms. Shirley is one of the most talented actors of ANY generation.
I read her daughter's book. In it, she details traumatic and troubling experiences growing up in Japan.
Sending love to you Shirley, LOVE, from SCOTLAND.
I love her, whatever she does shes great 🤩, saw her one woman show in London twice 🥳🥳
Being There is one of my favorite movies thanks to her performance. .
I love her! She is so talented, smart and beautiful. She is a free thinker and she is a strong individual. I have read the books she has written. She is a thoughtful person.
One of my top three favorite movies of all time that I have always loved even as a kid is “What A Way To Go”!!! My favorite dance number of all time was in “Sweet Charity”! Any movie with her in it is good!!
Her choice to appear sans wig and 'pretty makeup' in POSTCARDS earns great kudos.
Don't have childrens if you dont have any time for them.
Always loved the great Shirley Mclaine . She’s gorgeous & a great talent.
I have always loved her! Fabulous actress!!
I have enjoyed everything I've seen Ms McClain has produced. One of the greatest in my lifetime.
Shirley MacLaine has always loved and admired Debra Winger. As the years went by the two ladies kept in touch with one another. It was in fact that Shirley reached out to Debra and asked if the production company use her pictures in the sequal called The Evening Star. I always thought that it was very noble of Debra to allow her pictures to be used in The Evening Star.
Shirley neglected her daughter for her career
I know her more for her books and views now than her movies. Very interesting life.
I just love Shirley McClain! She is absolutely the best of the best!! I just wish I had a place like her's in Santa Fe!
What a life. Beautiful actress
I think SMc would have been a dead ringer for Anna Wintour.
Loved her in Sweet Charity great star.
I can’t tell y’all how many times i watched 2 Mules for Sister Sara bc my older cousin loved Westerns an we only had 1 TV in the living room an it was a heavy console made of wood with the speakers on both sides an if u lifted the top there was a record player an 8 track player … Those were the good old days .
Shirley, I have always admired, respected and loved your talents. You are truly one of the best! ❤😊
She was an awesome actress. She was a terrible mother I feel sorry for her daughter.
Irma la Douce was her best role.
I have some very good friends who are successful actors. I’m very fond of them. But they are all very very selfish self involved self absorbed people. Actors and politicians. They are always playing a role or “performing” or always “on” they are always very very concerned with them selves before anyone else
Im a wanna be talent and watching inspirational videos like this also helps me
Iconic actor!
I must be the only person who did not cry when watching Terms of Endearment. I thought it was good and MacLaine did a great job in it but loved her in Irma LaDouce better. If you want a movie that will make you cry Watch The Fighting Sullivans which is a true story of brothers on a navy ship who lost their lives during WW2. I watched it twice and no longer can watch it because of almost uncontrollable sobbing throughout the movie. It stars Anne Baxter and Thomas Mitchell.
My favorite movies are terms of endearment and steel magnolias
Amazing soul!
To see Shirley McClain in any production is a guarantee to never be disappointed but overjoyed.
She’s a marvelous writer, too! Out On A Limb helped jumpstart the New Age movement.
Big love for this lady. An icon.
If Shirley McClain hated me, I'd wear that like a badge of honor.
I think she is awesome in all respects
Loved her performance in so many movies.
She was great in Downton Abbey! I loved her in Irma LaDeuce
I’m a big fan of Jessica Lange , she reinvented her with American Horror story . My favorite is Asylum, she is amazing in that. I like Shirley ❤😊 She s a great actress.
She did so many movies
I’ve been a fan of
Oh I loved her so much she was funny and so energetic great lady❤
I adore her!!!
She hated Anthony Hopkins
What a talent!! ❤
A fine movie star but not a devoted mother, according to her daughter.
I put Shirley MacLaine, Debbie Reynolds and Shirley Jones as my favorite singer/dancer/all around great film actresses in the 1940's to the 1980's (or even more recent). I thoroughly enjoy their movies. Doris Day, just below them.
She definitely was and will always be of my favorites in my life time. I can't help but wonder if she experienced countless nights in tears of frustration of her not being able to achieve her original goals as an actress and multi talented person but in the spot light she made miracles and magic happen. To me it appeared she achieved exactly what she aimed for but in reality she is just that good to make things work out regardless of all the hinderances, oppositions, and set backs. I do not agree with some of her political views but that does not stop me from appreciating her performances that was a huge part of my childhood.
Gorgeous eyes!
I love her.
Shirley MacLaine is marvelous!
She is strong, independent & has always, always did her own thong. Her way!
On the set of most movies she was considered a pain in the ass and not popular
Loved her in Downton Abbey
Shirley is a true star - a legend in her own time. She owned every single role she ever played. She was/is and will always be a giant in the world of film.
As for Debra, while I also enjoyed her work, too, I remember she had a long standing reputation in Hollywood for being tension-filled and sometimes extremely difficult to get along with - which is a shame because it negatively affected her career by limiting her work opportunities. 🤷🏻♀️
She and her brother were raised Baptist ... Wow wanna talk about straying from the fold
I like her very much as an actress--but during her visit to Communist China during Mao's "Cultural Revolution" (in which an estimated 10 million people were killed), she declared : "He's (Mao) teaching values like Jesus Christ!"
I loved Terms of Endearment
My parents were married for 70 years. Their marriage worked because of traditional roles, my father worked and my mother raised kids and took care of the house. My parents never drank, smoked or commit adultery. The church was the center of their lives. I never heard them argue and my mother NEVER resented that she didn't have a career. They were the BEST parents ever. The last people to listen to about marriage advice are Hollywood degenerates.
Cut to the chase . It was Anthony Hopkins . I just saved you from hearing that her daughter lived with her , maybe her father, in Japan 20 times .
Great actress. Strange woman.
I absolutely love her!! ❤❤❤❤
I love her ❤️
Shirley is fabulous actress and dancer.
LOVE HER 😍❤!!!!
She is a great actress
SHIRLEY ABSORBS YOU WITH HER TALENT, COMPASSION, KNOWLEDGE OF HER SURROUNDINGS AND
HER BEAUTY. SHE LOOKS LIKE NO OTHER AND YOU CAN SEE THE HONESTY AND IN HER EYES.
IF AN ACTOR DIDN'T LIKE HER, IT IS BECAUSE SHE MORE THAN LIKELY ISN'T
GOING TO GOVERN HERSELF TO MAKE ANOTHER ACTOR APPEAR MORE THAN WHAT THEY ARE.
SHIT HAPPENS WHEN THE GREATS CLASH. HOPKINS IS A GREAT ACTOR, AS IS MACLAINE.
SHE CAN SING AS WELL.
If I were an actor, I think I would be Shirley.
And to be blessed yet carry hate, wow.😮
She was perfect in TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA (and all her roles)!
Terrible mother
Great Actress 😊
I've always loved Shirley, and thought she was stunning, I always felt she should have had more leading roles and less supporting ones.
There are very few perfect parents…Shirley is no exception.
Thank you!
I grew up with Shriley on the silver screen and she will always be my hero both in this world, and in the next!
Interesting character.
