Plunderstorm's simple hybrid action combat design showed a promising PvP concept worth exploring. Easy to pick up, hard to master and much more spectator friendly than wow PvP will ever be.
I found plunder extremely boring to watch, but modern pvp can also be rough to watch as a new player if you don't know what is going on.
I watched some plunder without playing it, i didnt understand what was going on when i viewed it xD Think its more about accessibility and own experience.
i started to play retail again with the df release and now i watch the awc tournaments and actually understand and enjoy them because i played it myself.
god damn mate PREACH, literally hitting the nail with the blizzard glass hammer. I miss pvp before s12
Bring Plunderstorm back, it's awesome. And it should be:
1. Free to play (you can earn money on cosmetics and other things like other games do).
2. Have a separate game client (no need to download 70 gb of WoW Retail if you don't want it).
3. Added matchmaking system with rating and leaderboards.
4. Add to the game a bit more variety on how to play, so you could win by outsmarting people strategically, not just win because you are good at micro control, this would make game a bit more complex and interesting to play especially in a long term (in my opinion).
5. Start a PR company outside of just WoW players. Many PvP players from different games and genres would enjoy playing this.
Thats good points
I really want them to drop the pirate theme. It's way too limiting for no reason
@@Huckle777 yeah ++
Totally agree with everything you said. Great video
to increase pvp participation : blizz should allow russians to pay for the game they love. many players are playing private servers now. the battle pass system will do the thing too, absolutely agree 👍🏻
Great video. I loved hearing your thoughts on different versions of PvP. Keep it up.
Solo shuffle feels pve heavy because of how fast damp ramps up. Your points are less valid in normal 3s but agree in context of solo shuff
Normal 3s is also a pve contest. Notice how no r1 team plays for pure setup anymore. 90 second cooldown healer trinket plus Stan buff made the game damage/mana focused. Crowd control is still important but it’s not the most important anymore
I can't disagree with literally anything.
There's a reason he's *Lord* Hydra.
Very refreshing.
Edit: content like back in the bathroom streams days
Really good take! They have something unique going with 3v3 arenas. There's no other game like it. Blizzard just seem to fail to see that sadly
Your retail observation is so point even though I enjoy it. I’ve been playing holy priest and sometimes it feels like setting up CC on the healer sets me back more than just stunning killing target. But yea there’s a lot of PvE in retail PvP it’s not about setting up CC anymore. At least in shuffle.
good discussions, ty!
idk, played 3 games of plunderstorm, got bored and never played it again
You missed allt
Think you are wrong about they not caring about PvP. Blitz and Solo Shuffle along with new Arena maps, Unique Weapon Illusions, Elite Sets, Tabards, Cloaks, Glad mount kinda proves that. They are giving us rewards to play. PVE doesn't get this kind of treatment in terms of rewards.
But i couldn't agree with you more about mobility creep, micro CC's and lack of value for casting spells. These things exist because of M+ where everyone needs multiple stops, high mobility and instant heals on bursty situations.
y i was sure back in wotlk/cata they would make a pvp only mode. i didn t have the time to play "full" wow anymore, after vanilla, bc , wotlk i was a little burned out. i didn t hate cata, i just wasnt able to play wow anymore, BUT i would ve loved a arena/bg only wow... everybody full geared, get cosmetics with rating, log in arena or bg, log out. if you have time play all week, if not, play in a month and still not behind in gear... but it never happened
Heil Hydramist!
Retail arena feels so bastardized. That's why I'm really happy Cataclysm classic is a thing because arena during Cata is super underrated by the community as a whole, but as a Disc main it was incredibly enjoyable. It had a very interesting game speed that was faster than TBC but slower than WotLK. It's my personal favorite iteration of arena (I never played MoP) so I'll be playing as much as I can to try to get glad. Hydra brings up a good point about retail being incredibly instant heavy to deal with the insane power creep and mentioned that mage was different from WotLK to Cata where it's more instant heavy with Ice Lance but one of the big key things about Wrath was that there was such a heavy amount of spell haste that isn't available during Cata (even in the last tier of the xpac) that allowed casters to cast some incredibly fast spells which meant you would often get caught in a GCD unable to respond which felt frustrating. Obviously it can occur in Cata as well, but it was far less likely to see a poly coming out and miss the death because you were GCD locked, or unable to FW a sub 1 second warlock fear.
At it's best, wow arena is the best game ever made. Nothing is more immersive than to send some nice games with friends!
Cata PvP imo was peak. So many people watched streamers PvP. I think your angle for “tbc/Woltk tournament viewer numbers were higher bc PvP was so much better” doesn’t consider when streaming started to astronomically take off. People would rather watch their favorite PvP player (live real-time) that was actually also entertaining (sodapoppin a perfect example) instead of just “the best” players. Putting on community events were at it’s all time high cata/mop. Classic Andys obviously didn’t like the world change and were turned off by it; however, there was still a plethora of new blood flowing into the game during Cata. WoD killed PvP scene and there is not one doubt in my mind
Peak pvp was mop s14/15. Cata balance was complete dog. Chaos bolt doing 12k damage on 130k health pools LOL.
@@epicstudios142536 maybe hit your on use trink brother
nice vid bro
Great vid, really.
Dampening shouldn’t exist. Mana already exists. Mana is a dampening style mechanic.
Make the game balanced around mana, not dampening.
If anything, dampening should only exist for DPS, not healers and healers get dampened by their mana running out.
Every game would just be decided by who gets a drink or who has the more mana efficient spec. Terrible take.
@@epicstudios142536 nah, you got a small brain and narrow perspective. You can't see or think outside the box, allowing Blizzard to be lazy and uninnovative.
Who says drinks should or shouldn’t be allowed? Consider a drink cap or balancing mana consumptions. This is simple stuff. Let the stats and mechanics of the game control dampening to encourage smarter mana resource management and decision-making. Mana consumption vs. mana regeneration should be dampening and dampening as we know it shouldn’t exist.
You being unable to comprehend the possibilities is ignorance or just plain stupidity. Just because you can’t see or think beyond the norm doesn’t mean my take is bad. Maybe you should try to use your head, not your feelings.
Plunderstorm is great but its too far away from WoW to replace it. WoW still needs a dedicated pvp game of its own, classless, no gear required, slowed down to maximise 'high speed chess'. Rmp mirrors in TBC are a great example of game design
Split it! Don’t have to raid for 1 trinket
They need to do something like plunder, but its not a br its wow, but also a moba. A moba type of bg.
Arena is like, Mortal Kombat, but its 3D. People be like yeah, wow pvp is lame, and then go click on heads or click to move until their mouse hand falls off
theres 0 chance plunder will ever replace real pvp. it can do well as its own thing but it has a very low skill cap which is in my opinion the biggest draw to actual pvp and plunder will never come even close to that with how simple and braindead it is. that being said it is a lot of fun and people will enjoy its return but it will never replace arena
Plunderstorm was awful and doesn't feel like real WoW pvp.
I feel like plunderstorm was so big because so many wow players didn’t go play all the battle royales during the hype.
Plunder was fun but not that much better than other BRs imo
not that much better than other BRs? It wasn't even close to other BRs. Plunderstom got boring after a day cause it was so repetitive.
@andrecardoso6941 I've played every BR just about that's ever come out since arma3. Plunder is SO SO bad haha I played about 6 games and never went back. It's so basic and unbalanced
not true at all. i dont think many wow players care about BR at all. yeah its kinda cool and fresh for wow, but that wasnt the main thing. it was a good place to pvp without investing ages of farming. you could create a character, jump in and compete. thats what wow pvp should be.
@@beyOndzZz not it shouldn't be, its an RPG. If they give us pvp only arena tournament realms first that'd be cool, but they seem to not want to do that so forget plunderwhatever it's super bad anyway.
Plunder is dogshit, It's for the people who are mechanically incapable of playing a real BR
wtf cata comeing out and hes going back for retail am i tripping ? retail is the worst at the moment
