      Yea but that was just a refresh this is supposedly an all new mustang and it literally rides on an s550 chassis. Why do they even call it an s650? It's the most disappointing all new mustang ever imo. The tuning situation kills it. Not to mention its an s550 2.0 with a stupid looking screen on the dash.

      Indicative of 630hp ish and minimal trans tuning, exactly as Alex predicted and also about what the Stage 1 2650 Edelbrock did ( stage 2 was different) on its warranty tune

      @@ShawnGilbert1967 That or they are making more power but that clutch issue is hampering them. Not sure if they tossed an aftermarket clutch in it or if it’s stock, but the stock one is probably ready to tap out lol. If not a mechanical clutch issue, then definitely a tune related issue.

      @TonyTheTruckGuy personally a test car like this? With first published numbers by supposedly PROs in the industry went out like some first timer having clutch issues? Also IF it was having clutch issues why is it fried so fast that doesn't bode well is tjat under the whipple warranty?
      Naw man I've experienced the stock calibration for a 2650TVS on my gen 3 and this is what it run damn near to a T and THEN back to back with LUND tune it was an ANIMAL all on 93 I might add....
      So I literally ran ( since it was off road only ) a blank muffler in place of 🐈 ( then spaced out the rear O2 till it didn't throw a code, because the stock ones caused multiple engine failures immediately)...on the Edelbrock warranty tune ( performed a lot.like this one did and im tall and fat as hell so car was heavy real heavy ) it ran near identical to this car.....on the Lund tune it was like I dropped another engine in there and would do 139 on virgin 2 lane full weight plus 200lbs over average driver and 140 at track...
      It went from 1.7x to 1.5x at track gaining huge MPH at each metric 1/8th and 1000ft too..back to back NO other changes but Lund tune....
      And I had tjat car as a stage 1 kit warranty tune, stage 2 kit warranty tune with "free flowing" then same with LUND....
      That car isn't making 700whp mine was 720...and I weighed easily 450lbs at the time maybe a little more........
      Them guys knowing there was questions to the power they claiming aren't going out on a bad clutch for first run I just can't see it, if they did they are fools...if it won't take it, it's a dud.....
      It's like Alex said it's gonna be about 630-650hp or so like every damn body else's warranty tune with safe torque tables just what it "smells like to me", no dog in the hunt if it ran 9s I'd been like nice you can buy a whipple to run 9s with a warranty that's awesome

    You guys have tuned a Gen3 5.0 with a Gen6 Whipple charger in an F150.. Cleetus's blue truck is running a Gen6 Whipple, as in one vid he said they sent it to him for testing.. FYI..

    Rember Lethal and Whipple did this same song and dance back in 2017. Gen 3 came out. Claims of 815 Whp on pure 93 pump. Whipple 132mm TB. We all know how that turned out....

    My old gen1 vmp gen2r stick car trapped 135 and ran 10s with 650hp/580tq. No gutted anything street car on a drag radial. Sad another 200hp ran the same numbers

    It funny that S650 manual 800+ hp is slower than my 12 year old manual (stock motor) v6 mustang. Mine ran a 10.2@136

      Its because weight matters and "Ford approved" tunes are garbage which is one of many reasons the s650 sucks

      @@midnight347 it’s supposedly 400 lbs more vs 200whp more. My car weighs 3500lbs. The 200whp more should more than make up for the extra weight and put that car into the 9’s. So either the car isn’t really 830 hp or the car is just a dud.

    Funny how we call this a dud and its been out 7-8 months now. New car, new things to figure out. This is not the s550.. i think some think you can do the same stuff and reuse. There is probably a limiter on whipple's end to fix. Saying its a dud on a project/test car is jumping the gun. Give Whipple some time to fix the bugs, that's why no one has a Whipple yet. Gotta make sure the tune is right and the other Whipple test cars have to gather data and logs. Very few cars on first module year have done will with mods. It takes awhile to learn the car. And for what its worth, the American tuners have had it made for years with tuning. About time they really have to work to figure stuff out. I give the car 3 yrs.. allows manufacture's to make parts and more R & D.

    I watched the Evan runs on Lethal's Instagram. The car kept bogging off the line. The 60 foots were in the 2's. It still should have trapped though so something is way off.

    The blower itself is good, the fitment of the other stuff as well as the throttle bodies are not good. It’s quietly an issue.

    My take on this partnership is what Justin aluted to. Whipple has permission from ford to play in the sandbox so maybe by association vmp could get early access to tuning as well. No?

      Imho it's the ONLY reason VMP HAD to do this, otherwise they will be 2 years getting any ECU access thereby they CANT offer a product no matter what it is, if they can't calibrate the the tune...be it a 2650tv or twin turbo...Whipple looks like it IS and will be the only option in the game for years or possibly ever?

    Iv had every blower on every combo u can think of and the only thing close to a small kenne bell hit at 2k rpm is a tvs 2.3,
    What they need is a 2.3 Whipple rear inlet for all Coyotes, gen 6 not that gen 1 coyote ford racing BLOWER, hell I remember when u could get a Whipple in a auto rotor case, kb)
    The Whipple went lysholm , hell vortec even had a twinscrew , Whipple with there name on it,

    I would have thought 880 at the back would trap 145mph. Anyone who has followed Evan would know of all automotive journalist's he's the guy to set a good time. He made a mockery of other testers results verified every result. He might be a Ford minion now but the guy can slap a gearstick around.

      Yeah Evan is a bad ass driver. He drove 2 different bone stock LS1 4th gen F bodies into the 12's 3 years apart. Stock ass tires too. One was a 99 Z28 with trash 245/50R16 all season tires and the pre 01 LS1's didn't make the power of 01-02's.

    Isn't there about a 200LB weight difference between the S650 and the S550 too? But that car should have dipped into the high 8's and low 9's..

      High 8s is way too fast for this setup maybe high 9s but in a car that heavy you're probably gonna need to be over 1000 wheel to dip into the 8s and it still might not if everything isn't dialed in including the launch.

    On a gen 2 with a 2.9 gen 3 whipple, the dash reading for IAT’s , is that measuring temp before the super charger or after it ?

      On the stock DIC that's pre blower. Look at your N Gauge or whatever device you have. It will be the IAT 2. IAT2 is the post blower Temps.

      @@shawnsanders9450 thanks Shawn , I did a track night last night and the air temp was 71 F and the read out between the speedo and rev counter was saying 92F so that is pre super charger as I have no other device to read IAT2 👍

    The gt500 didnt trap 135 it normally traps 133 but the point still stands. It is sub 700 rwhp and weighs more which is absolutely ridiculous.

Nothing is wrong w vmp to have to join with Whipple it's because Whipple has the only ok from Ford to make blowers and tuning for the 24 up mustangs and there ain't gonna be no tuning available other than Ford approved bs I think vmp realizes this too...the writing has been on the wall for ages but people are stuck in denial. .

    Seems like bad news to me, VMP is so desperate the HAD to make a deal with Whipple to be able to offer a tune not a product....its the access to anything not stock they are after aka the ability to change the tune to compliment power adders...
    It tells me Whipple has a corner on the market and Ford doesnt intend to open it up for anyone else anytime soon? No competition except one PA vendor is terrible news...luckily Whipple makes a good project

      This. It's because there's no tuning available for them other than Ford approved bs. Whipple has the golden ticket so they have to merge with them to be in the market for 24 and up. Otherwise they'd just keep making tvs blowers because they're better imo lol

    I just don't see the purpose, if it's a whipple product and only they can tune it, thru their Tomahwk I presume....
    Btw I'm tall and fat my 19 Gen 3 Premium car went 10.70s on the stock stage 1 Edelbrock 2650TVS WARRANTY tune..
    Stage 2 was a different thing..
    And then Lund tuned with free flowing exhaust on 93 it did 140 with my extremely fat ass and ZERO weight reduction probably had extra Junk in it...
    It would do 10.60s on VIRGIN street at 139 Lund tuned 2nd gear leave......
    That S650 as raced that day is NOT 700whp

    This is the thing about the 24 ups and their "ford approved" tuning there is a reason its approved because its stupid conservative. Ford approved tuning like roush whipple and stuff has always been lackluster and a good custom tune really wakes them up. This is why not having tuning sucks people will eventually catch on and only go with older cars when they they wanna mod or get torched by older cars with proper tuning plain and simple..

      At least there were 2 companies to drive cost down there isn't even a Roush, Whipple are the only ones able to access the tune for anything...how could VMP survive if they can't offer a product because they can't tune it ONLY whipple can...
      Which means we are a captive market and whipple has a monopoly on S650 which is bad for all of us....

      This. The only reason they're fucking with Whipple is for them cars they can't make blowers for because they aren't 50 state carb compliant AND THERE ISNT GONNA BE ANY TUNING FOR THE 24 MUSTANG this basically confirms what I already knew. They're stuck with Ford approved bs and Whipple has the ok from Ford they basically have a monopoly on it which is the reason for the merger. They would have just kept doing what they were doing if tuning was available for them like the older cars. There is no reason to go to Whipple otherwise the odin performs just as good and has better torque and is smaller. People go with Whipple because of the look and because people think bigger is better it's really as simple as that. And of course they have their fanboys like anyone else. There is no other reason for vmp to fuck with Whipple other than they need to dip in the 24 up market (if you wanna call it that lol)

      No shit the track I run at is almost 2000 elevation and the last 3/4 of the track is uphill so needless to say everything runs a decent bit slower with 5-8 mph (or more) less trap speed on average compared to the best tracks. It sucks lol

    To the guy that said terminators are dyno queens that cant run a number there is a few guys who ran 8s with a stock bottom end, 3 liter whipple and a stick shift so no this s650 is nowhere near a terminators potential. And this is where youre capped at because there is NO TUNING available. This is why tuning is so important. Any mustang prior to the s650 has a higher ceiling than an s650 including the terminator. You know why? Because they can actually be tuned!!! I rest my case.

I have never driven a whipple car, but I have owned a gen2 TVS and a Vortech.. The Vortech was not my cup of tea in a coyote.. The TVS gave the coyote the heavy bottom end torque that it was badly missing.. Made the car feel more like it had pushrod torque, yet could still pull hard to 7200..

      07-14 gt500s make killer torque and they aren't pushrod engines but I get what you're saying. That is one thing I love about gt500s besides the sound is the massive torque especially with a tvs. So much more fun on the street and it makes the car feel nasty as hell.

    A buddys turbo 01 camaro 3400 lbs or so made 750whp went 9.8 at 156 i think with a stick then 9.4 with a auto

      Of course. A stick can never do what a auto can do with converter tech. You're never gonna get the torque multiplication off the line that a auto can achieve with current converter tech, trans brake, 2 step ect. Then after a shift needs to happen stick will never get a engine to flash to the PERFECT RPM after each shift to keep engine in its RPM band to make the most power. ALL of this is assuming the absolute best driver is piloting the stick car launching it perfectly and then shifting it perfectly. Even if the stick has no lift shift AND doesn't even need to push in a clutch its STILL not gonna hang with a auto. It can't "flash" like a auto and it is impossible to get the torque multiplication off the line. I bet that Camaro also had a TH400 or 4L80E meaning only 2 shifts vs the T-56 needing 3 shifts.

      ​@@shawnsanders9450even with all that said is it really worth killing the fun of your street car to gain .4 tenths in the quarter? This is what I don't understand about people who switch to automatics on their street cars because it's "faster" if you aren't racing competitively for money does it really matter if your car runs 9.4 or 9.8? I think running 9.8 with a stick is more impressive than 9.4 with a purpose built stalled auto (which I assume it was) a th400 kills drive ability compared to a t56 or even a 5 speed manual. If it's a full out competitive race car I understand every 100th matters but for a street car it's stupid as hell imo. Too many auto nutriders with street cars.

      @@midnight347 that's your opinion bro. Some like a auto. Go try and buy manual Corvette or Lamborghini. YOU CAN'T! I have been there and done that with a manual. Even if it is your daily if you race it even amateur every once in a while at the track or even the street with sticky tires you break all kinds of stuff and its slower on top of that expense. 15+ years ago in stock form a manual was just as fast as a auto or in some cases faster. Not anymore. A half second difference now between auto and manual in stock form just grows as it gets faster. That much difference is nothing to scoff at because thats bus lengths not to mention the fun of a manual wears off after a couple of years street driving in traffic. At least it did for me.

    Vmp didnt lose this is more ahout the 24 mustang being locked down and nobody has fords blessing outside whipple so they had to partner up in order to have products to sell for the shitty locked down 24 lol. Weather this causes friction w eaton and causes them to eventually stop offering eaton based stuff is yet to be seen but it isnt because they "lose" the "war" if you wanna call it that. The tvs blowers have done just fine and punch well above their weight class. I hope they dont stop offering tvs stuff because imo theyre superior on stock motor stuff vs whipple

      They ain't gonna stop making the tvs this is simply for the 24 up mustang. Older cars can still get a tvs. This is because tuning isn't gonna be available for 24s outside of "Ford approved" tunes aka the soft ass Whipple tune. People are going to jump ship on 24s and start just modding older card when they get tired of being limited by tuning but you're still gonna have those dedicated to the latest greatest car thinking they gotta trade in for a "new" car every couple years like it's a cell phone or something so vmp wanted to get into the game in 24s and that was the only way to do it imo. Clearly they think so too.

      Why would they stop making tvs for older cars?. It doesn't make sense they're probably talking about for the dual throttle 24 up that has no tuning outside of Whipple if you want forced induction.
