    I normally keep and reuse all my CDC feathers except for the springtime. After a tying session, I put all the bits of feathers cut off tinsel, thread, etc; out for the birds for nest building. Judging by how quick the birds clear up I think they appreciate the waste.

    I did enjoy it, Davie... than you. I've been saving CDC and others you've mentioned over the years. It's amazing how far the bits and pieces go.

    Hello Davie, as always very relaxing and inspiring to watch your videos 😊
    I'm not much of a dryfly fisherman my self but im very curious how cdc act in a wetfly. I'm fishing alot of sea trout and usually ullsock and big spider patterns are the key to success, do you think cdc could be used for tying a ullsock that is more discreet than say a normal redtag ullsock?
    Greetings from Sweden 🙂

    I don't tie flies but still love watching you do it. I watched your video about the green mucilin. Do you heat it only the once.TIA

      Hi Martin,
      I may do it a couple of times to make sure it has soaked in to the felt patch you'l know it has done this when you rub your thumb on it and there's a fine clear coat of the mucilin on it...I'm glad you enjoy the videos..

      Hi @freefloppa6455,
      The original CDC dun was tyed by Marc Petitjean so I would say he inspired me to tye this one,.I just used a method to use up all my waste ends of the CDC feathers.I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

      @@DavieMcPhail Thanks for the response , but I meant it in general . Where do you get your inspiration to tye so many patterns? Books,colleagues,CZcams?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hi @@freefloppa6455, I have been tying now for over 40 years and one of my jobs was to teach and design flies for three different companies here and abroad. I have also done many other things in this field which has gave me the opportunity to mess around with many patterns so I mix these ideas in many of the patterns I have tyed over the years..CZcams is also a great inspiration to me as I get asked questions a lot so it inspires me to mix and match many patterns answering them just like in this video about using up the waste ends of the CDC feathers...
