People do not realize how amazing the experience is of looking around you and seeing yourself around you. When I went back to Kenya in my 20s I cried from how emotional I was seeing billboards with people that looked like me as I was driving from the airport to my family home. Growing up in America you don't realize that your missing that feeling until you experience it. Every black person should have that experience in their life, it's cathartic.

As a white South African I really missed being the minority when I stayed in Europe and UK
I grew up in an Afrikaner community, in the early 2000s,I actually feel more comfortable being a minority. It was my normal and we don't necessarily relate because we are the same race but I feel for the Black people in the States.
I'm black South African. I have been in houses where I'd be the only black person in a house full of white people, and I'd forget my skin Colour or their skin Colour. We'd just be brothers in the same house.

One time I went to Toronto and it was the first time I felt like a minority, even though I wasn't. I was just living in a place where almost no white people were living. It was an interesting experience, but it wasn't the real experience, and I know that.
