    Thanks Magic for this review. I can't quite muster the enthusiasm for these lenses mainly because I found that the 55and 35 Sony/Zeiss work perfectly well with my a7c. I picked up the new kit lens with it and am very impressed with that as well. I also have the small 28 f2 Sony prime and even the 85 f1.8 does not feel like a burden on this camera. It has proven to be a great addition and I find myself carrying it around where I would maybe leave the bulkier A7iii at home.

    Congrats on hitting 1k! I've really enjoyed the way you present content and explain things. Will you be sticking to just reviews or is that just because there has been so much to review lately? I'd love to see how you edit - your final images are lovely. Also, thoughts on photographing/filming kids would be wonderful (camera settings for unpredictable movement, practical focal length choice indoors vs. outdoors, dad/photographer tricks!).

    Love the review. Planning on upgrading from a6400 to a7c using my Sony Zeiss 35mm 2.8. Probably will get the new 50mm and 24mm for the a7c. Agree with you that 40mm not necessary when I already own a smaller 35mm fe lens. Thanks for the video. I just subscribed to your channel.

    I picked up the 24 and 50 for when I want to have a more discreet camera/lens combo. I think these compliment my larger lenses, they don't replace them. I hope Sony adds a short tele to this family. It would immediately be my travel kit.

    Hey mate i just discovered your channel and you were among the first reviewers i saw covering them especially that good. I like your approach to provide comparisons. I definitely subscribe because i like what you're doing here. For the future i would like to see a short test on autofocus performance especially in video. Yeah these aren't really created for that purpose but i just need a verification that these lenses perform in a way i would expect from Sony G Lenses.

      And I have to disagree with @pomHUB - 24 it’s a total different beast than 35. The compression and geometry of those focal lengths is vastly different and you’ll achieve very different effects even when trying to frame same way. I’ll have some video showing the same frame with different lenses, but either way I’d say not 24 and 35 can be useful, depending what you shoot.

    I just stick to my Samyang lenses from their Tiny series 18mm.f.2.8 and 35mm.f.1.8 and 45mm.f.1.8 plus 75mm.f.1.8, although Sony lenses are also small and light, I still prefer that aperture and the wide-angle lens Samyang offers!

    • @michaelbell75
      @michaelbell75 Před 2 lety +1

      I owned the Samyang 35, 45 and 75 f/1.8 as well as the 35, 50 and 85 f/1.4 lenses, including 3 copies of the 85 and two of the 50. The rendering is really nice and the bokeh has a nice quality to it but they all have awful AF for portraits and the 1.8 lens are cheap plastic and feel like toys. So many out of focus shots on these lenses. Good luck getting sharp copies that focus properly on any of the Samyang/Rokinon lenses.

    • @JessDemant
      @JessDemant Před 2 lety

      @@michaelbell75 I have no problems with autofocus from my Samyang lenses from the Tiny series, and yes the lenses from the Tiny series are of plastic, but the quality of the plastic is not so bad and they are also screwed together well, but it is also a matter of taste. However, I would say that you are definitely right that they certainly do not feel as robust as Sony's lenses, but they are also meant to be small and light with good image quality and not so expensive, and that really appeals to me a lot. However, I have had bad experiences with autofocus with Samyang's 35mm.f.1.4 and 85mm.f.1.4, so I have sold them both .....

    These lenses are for people who want 90% of a GM lens but want it in a much smaller, lighter and cheaper package. Sorry, but this 50 f/2.5 blows the 55 1.8 away in a few important areas you didnt even mention. Superior build quality with weather sealing, has 10 sealing gaskets running thru it. It also has dual linear motors that focus faster and more accurately than the 55 1.8 and its also sharper. Believe it or not, there are many of us who prefer build quality, faster and more accurate AF and sharpness over how blurry a background is and how big bokeh balls are.

      @@matiasroman2081 Buy a good used 55 f1.8 for your A7C. I think you will be most happy with that as you will have better low light capabilities. I find that my most favorite photos are invariably shot using the 55 f1.8 - it has a quality that just jumps out at me. I find it and the 35 f1.8 both feel right at home on the A7C.
