Sweet Mom Loves her Cute Baby Rats

- Here's a better view of the big babies from yesterday's video. Aria loves her big three-week-old baby rats.
Mom is suspicious of the camera. She looks at me real hard when I'm holding it. I'm not doing anything but standing there with the camera but she's like, what are you doing? Can't you see I'm busy right now. --Well, that's what I imagine she's thinking.
The babies romp around, play, and wrestle. I hope to catch them playing some time. Usually when I pull out my camera, they all jump up and run towards me, so I haven't been able to get any good footage of them playing, but I'll keep trying.

Lol, they are cute! But it seems they should have been weaned by now, and they are big and fat, and mom is very loving of her teenage kids. :)
The babies here are still young in this video. They were just big babies. Mom was naturally small. It's healthy to keep babies with their mom as long as possible. Five weeks is when you separate the males but females stay with their mom and aunts.

yes, the babies were very big. My females are generally small rats, so I mated mom with a big male and she produced beautiful big babies. I love them very much. Thank you for commenting.
Awh, the stage of rats when the babies are almost as big as the mother :) Though she does look a bit thin...
I promise she can eat as much as she wants. My nursing moms get soft food twice a day. And also, they have a bowl of their regular food available all day. Mom is just very petite. All my adult girls are naturally small but they are not dwarves either. The babies are so big because their father is a large rat.

@@Woffieee Yes, exactly. Moms usually seem so overwhelmed just before their babies are weaned.
@TheCheerioGang Also, no matter their intake, they are going to lose weight. My corgi bitch was healthy and lean at 30.6 pounds, but she had a litter just before I adopted her, and that took her down to 28 pounds. Having and nursing babies is a high drain on a mother.

the one babi upside down and them mom is just like i'm done kids and walks off while they trail behind her.
I thought the baby that rotated under mom was funny. These babies were weaning age and she was still nursing them. They had a bowl of food off camera. The babies are now about 7 weeks old and fat and happy. :)
