    I really think Fey Touched should be in here. You can boost your wisdom and get access to Hex. Making you deal an extra 1d6 per hit. Especially good for the Deinonychus which can make 3 attacks per turn! Misty step is just a bonus!

    I like resilient for any class, but combining War Caster with Resilient (constitution) makes any concentration caster dangerous!

    • @bluedragonguild
      @bluedragonguild  Před 3 lety +5

      It’s def a great combo!

    • @bluedragonguild
      @bluedragonguild  Před 2 lety +2

      Well the thing to think about is; despite wildshaping being your main focus, you’re still a caster first and wildshape isn’t always going to be your best bet and you only have a limited number of times you can do it per day. While the combo could be considered overkill, it’s definitely not a waste if it is how you want to play your character.

    • @HorrorMetalDnD
      @HorrorMetalDnD Před 2 lety

      @Professor Thinker, a Moon Druid can get use out of the whole War Caster feat while also having Resilient (Constitution).
      Having advantage on Concentration Checks means you won’t have to worry about having to make them with disadvantage, and having proficiency in Constitution Saving Throws means you’ll still be very likely to pass those Concentration Checks when something gives you disadvantage to cancel out your advantage.
      Moon Druids can (and should) hold a shield while also wielding a weapon, preferably a quarterstaff if they have the Shillelagh cantrip.
      Since a Moon Druid can still be a melee combatant out of Wild Shape, being able to cast a spell as a reaction can be useful.
      There. That’s every aspect of the War Caster feat and how a Moon Druid can take advantage of every aspect of it.

    Getting permanent mage armor through the eldritch invocation feat is pretty sweet. Tends to increase your AC 2-4 depending on the wild shape epic at lower levels. You can also change your invocation in the late game.

    Total noob here trying to make something meta so my char survives until i learn how to properly do DnD combat & i can roleplay with them, what you guys think of this build?
    Class: Moon Druid (duh.)
    Race: Ghostwise Halfling (get that + Wisdom, get Lucky & Silent Speech to reroll 1's & be able to talk while in Wild-Shape.)
    Feats: Warcaster & Resilient (Get Advantage in saving throws to maintain Concentration Spells + add proficiency to Con saving throws, those few spell i use before going Wild-Shape SHOULD stay up with all of that + Lucky.)
    P.S: It's gonna be my first spellcaster ever, opted to make it a Moon Druid cuz honestly...it's the easiest spellcaster IMO (no seriously, i can switch my spell list every day so i get to try out stuff and find what works best without my noobness killing me for the rest of the campaign + i can just go into Wild-Shape and do melee if i'm overwhelmed by Spellcasting Complexity? awesome!)

    A neat trick you can do with a Moon Druid is go with the Changeling race, and turn into a Dire Wolf. You still retain the Changeling’s racial feature to alter your form in minor ways such as standing on two legs, using your front paws as hands, and talking. A full on Werewolf at level 2.

    Another good feat from Tasia's Cauldron is Eldritch Adept, take the invocation called Armor of Shadows.. this gives you the ability to cast mage armor at will without using materials or a spell slot when you cast it , and doesn't use up concentration. Now why is this good ? Think of it as Magical Barding giving you 13+dex mod and replaces the beasts AC and replaces it with the one from Mage Armor, which in most cases is a net increase. Its also a way to get an AC in normal form that is better then studded leather that doesn't effect stealth. if you want further better AC that stacks with this in wild shape and don't mind a small multiclass 2 level dip, take 2 lvls in blade singer wizard for bladesong. Since you mental stats stay the same in a wild shape it should give the same bonus AC in either normal form OR wild shape.. it as well with give you the int mod not only as bonus AC it will also add that to concentration checks to maintain a spell. Normally i pair that with resilience (Con) feat for proficiency with Con Saves. By lvl 20 with a 20 int score that would be a bonus +11 to con saves , that in its self is enough to make concentration checks bullet proof unless you roll a nat 1.

    Moon Druids are great and all, but they are already one of the most picked (if not the most picked) Druid Subclass. They have some weird scaling issues, but other than that, remain pretty S-tier.
    Would LOVE to hear any insights to Circle of the Land and/or suggestions on how it could be improved and further removed from the slightly nature-themed Wizard it is today.
    Nature's Recovery is fine and all, but it's not something unique, and it's then followed up by Landstride which is meh at best, and Nature's Ward and Sanctuary which are for all intents and purposes abysmal.
    That alone wouldn't be too bad, but then you add to the fact that they're forced to use mainly concentration-spells, and many of the good spells they DO have access to are locked away into various Biomes (or lands huhu) that often feel very unthematic for a nature-sage.
    I mean, I won't often be playing say ... an arctic druid or a ... grasslands druid. That's USUALLY not the iconic and thematic choice.
    Sure a matter of personal flavor I guess, but still. Having misty step, Invisibility, sleetstorm Call lightning etc. Locked away (or forcing you to use up spell slots) just feels like a lot of... "jank" that other classes and subclasses don't have to deal with.
    I'm not saying you can't "make it work" but CotL druids remain firmly in B tier, maybe A tier with the correct race+land combinations.
    How would YOU change the circle to reach that fabled S-tier that Twilight domain clerics, Battle Masters, Chronurgy wizards etc. occupy? Could it be as simple as tweaking their spell-list? Or do they need a re-design? While still keeping them thematically on-point?
    Would LOVE to hear your input on this.

      Oh my, that is a lot to think about.
      I’ve never played a Land Druid, but have been in a long term game with BDG Member Dave and I really loved what he did with that character.
      As for game mechanics and how I would work to improve or change them I will have to do a bit of research and get back to you.
      But thank you for your comment and for getting my brain thinking and giving me an idea for some channel content! 😃

    Telekinesis: for those animal forms without hands. Yeah, it's a spell and can't be cast during wild shape but the mental shove is handy.
    I think Mage Slayer is cool but the situation to use it doesn't come up. Your previous point was a moon druid gets stuck into the front line. That should be nowhere near casters (maybe if they have a gishy EK, bladesinger or hexblade).

    • @bluedragonguild
      @bluedragonguild  Před 2 lety +1

      Telekinesis is a brilliant idea!
      And yes, mage slayer is definitely situational. While the casters aren’t frontline, I picked Mage Slayer in the interest of taking down those casters quickly when you get to them.
