Chris wrote this song after his daughter was born. The lyrics are about how he tries to explain the world to his child.
Can you give us a source please
@@Tahyetahtidak Sorry, but I don't remember. He probably said that in some of his countless interviews or I have read it somewhere...
X&Y is the best Coldplay album! There is no filler song on it! All of them are amazing! I had the lucky to catch them live during this tour đ
The band disagrees with you lol
@@moonillusions832 Yes, but they do because it was a difficult time for the guys. Musically it is definitely good but to this day there are discrepancies regarding the songs. Chris said it quite well when it comes to The Hardest Part "two of us love the song and two hate it"
X&Y and Ghost Stories are my two favorites
thats my, if i had one album to listen to, i would take that one, album ;)
You're definitely right about the piano! I believe the piano has the same chord progression as Clocks
Agree! Everytime i hear this song, i always remember Clocks.
He uses the same magic, it works incredibly well in both songs
Heâs 100% thinking of Clocks. Lol
and that's the reason why this song specifically is never played live (the rest of the album excluding Fix You isn't either, but that's because this era was kinda depressing for the band)
Chris considers it the same as Clocks
1:02 I think you are talking about clocks, this song it's like the X&Y version.
I agree more Coldplay please. X and Y, Parcahutes and a rush of blood to the head are all old but gold..
Sin duda la mejor canciĂłn de Coldplay.
Tiene todooo esta canciĂłn es apoteĂłsica
La pediria en mi funeral
YES PLEASE!
More Coldplay đ
âBirds flying at the speed of soundâ is a reference to a plane flying through the air. âBirdâ is a nickname given to a plane.
X&Y's lyrics are notoriously... out there and ambiguous. You did get a lot of key points though, it's a song about embracing curiosity. I believe it was inspired by observing how his young child interacted with the world around him, where everything was wonderful and new and exciting, and yearning for that magic again.
As others said, you're definitely thinking of Clocks. That song's success on the previous album had a very outsized influence on X&Y's sound and vibe.
Token request to someday react to Coloratura please đ
the easiest way to explain the lyrics is that you see everything from a bird's point of view, in the verse "and birds can fly at the speed of sound to show you how it all begins" i interpret it as a bird telling you how it feels fly, feel the speed of sound, from the beginning to the end, and when he says "if you could see it you would understand" well I think you get the idea hehe sorry for my english, use google translateđč
I've been a fan of Coldplay for a very long time. You always bring a newer, fresher and deeper perspective to their songs that I enjoy! â€ïž After listening to what you said, I think he's talking about belief and how certain things just manifest itself, which can be mysterious until you see it happen. Chris has always said he doesn't write the songs, they get sent to him.
Finally đđđđđœmore Coldplay đđœgood choiceđ«¶đœ my interpretation would be that, everything now changes so fast around us itâs hard to know what is real and what is not, what is fake and what is genuine, some things you will only believe when you see them for yourself because otherwise they are unbelievable. Also, Definitely just to look up more often pay attention to whatâs around us and itâs beauty. Well thatâs what I think anywayđ
Finally! Been waiting on more Coldplay đđ
Don't neglect the deep cuts either đ
"A Message" "Till Kingdom Come" "Swallowed in the Sea" đ
Also âWhat Ifâ and âX&Yâ
You may be thinking of â Clocks â with similar piano
Curiosity ⊠everything they do has a deeper spiritual meaning imo ⊠taking the world around you and opening your eyes .. I feel like x&y is â confused but open â I find I didnât make sense of a lot of Coldplay songs until I really went deep and got into the discography because it becomes apparent that itâs very special . Iâm still waiting for coloraturađ
I love this song, have forever, still no idea what itâs about, but love it, love the sound so much
Just as I remember the day 'Yellow' came out ,I also remember 'Speed of Sound' first play on the radio. I loved this so much ( still do ) . Its so quintessentially Coldplay (add it to the long long song list ) and would never sound right done by anyone else. The piano and that voice made them unique.
There's an interview somewhere where Chris said the lights on this video cost a fortune. Felt like the start of the big concert/stadium stuff although they very rarely played this song live. Also if I remember correctly Chris wanted to express the enormity of the impact of having kids had on him.
I havenât even started the video! This is one of my favorites from Coldplay đ I hope you keep doing reactions to them, they have such beautiful lyrics all around that theyâre worth the time to react to them †Iâm just gonna go ahead and watch the video cause I canât wait to see your thoughts. Greetings from MĂ©xico đ
Climb into the trees( get off the ground open your eyes to the possibilities that lies in the skies. The sky full of stars and endless possibilities. Every chance that come your way seize the opportunity to realize the endless possibilities that awaits) every chance u get is a chance that you seize. Very naive but optimistic way to look at life
Open your eyes to the world that lies beyond
Climb up into the trees and you will see it and maybe understand lol
Based on the riff of Computer Love by Kraftwerk (1981). Check it!
That's Talk, not Speed Of Sound
Great reaction once again! Do more X&Y Coldplay singles please :)
So happy to see more old Coldplay!!!!
Coloratura for the 7736728478 time! đ
I'm sure you meant Clocks when you said it reminds you of another song.
The song is about life, the thoughts in our heads, God, our beliefs, the universe and the signs we get from it and how we see them or not. And how we still can't understand life or our existence.. It can be many things but usually Coldplay songs if you try to understand every single word they don't make sense but they're more of a feeling rather than a thought.
As soon as you said it sounded like another Coldplay I realised you're so right! The piano reminds me of "Clocks"
The underground is the train system in London

Hey Qwerk!!đđ My ex wife always ended up listening to the music I was into, from rock to metal, a lot of singer songwriter. She got me to buy my first new car, a Camaro of course, post divorce. It has an amazing stereo. I still turn her on to my latest bopz and singer songwriters, like Lana Del Reyâ€. She ends up buying them off the evil itunes đąso she can listen to them right away đ Haven't talked to her in a couple of years, but I will get her to love Olivia Rodrigo!! Frig you. Pop rocks, and it always will. I know what people like, cuz I like it too.đ
Oh nice, an X&Y track. The band hates that album/era due to the poor time they had with it, but a lot of people really love it regardless. the lyrics are a lot more ambiguous and open
Fun fact: Chris Martin has said that this is their attempt at ripping off Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill"
Hi.. maybe you heard about Iran and #MahsaAmini...

Please Sufii, you have to do Charlie Puth's new song "I Don't Think That I Like Her" -PLEEEEEAAAAASE!!!
Please react to X&Y đđđ
Chris Martin hates this song because the lyrics make no sense so you're not alone in the not understanding lyrics department. It is a shame though because the song is amazing. X&Y is my favorite album. It does get repetitive but when I look back I can't take from it a single bad song
Disagree
The lyrics make absolute sense.
@@sudipvyas2040 he doesnât hate this song, he hates playing it live, as itâs so difficult to get the sound right live
@@sudipvyas2040 they don't though
@@maximillianford9301 they do, they represent an epiphany in oneâs mind that can occur when they feel aligned with creation nature and the cosmos. Itâs feeling total discouragement and angst and then God shows you the beauty and symbiosis of creation and everything clicks.
@@sudipvyas2040 that's your opinion and it's as valid as any. However, I think even you would agree that the vagueness and ambiguity of the album's lyrics aren't quite as straightforward, or as likely to be hard-hitting for as many people, as some of their more direct lyrics, like 'tell me you love me, if you don't then lie,' 'yeah the truth is, that I miss you,' or 'I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for'
Please react to chris martin carpool karaoke
Please Charlie brown or hurts like heaven
It reminds you of Clocks, mate. It's the exact same descending chord progression, even down to the fact that the second chord run through of the three chords (I don't know the proper terminology) is played twice as much as the first and third run throughs, as if the song 'holds' on the second chord before moving to the third. This has always been my gripe with Speed Of Sound, as I believe, although the piano sounds great, it sounds similar enough that if another band had written it, they could've been sued. Particularly in the X&Y era, Coldplay recycled chords, instrumentals and lyrics quite often. One example is the organ parts in Fix You, Talk and White Shadows. It's basically the same notes in all three. Another is the 'never try, never know' lyric, which was used verbatim in Fix You and Speed Of Sound, and a slight variation used in What If. Another criticism I have is that the lyrics are hopelessly vague and feel almost lazy, almost right through the album, which is something you experienced in this vid. Who knows what he's talking about. X&Y is well documented as a time of struggle for them and though the album has three songs which I rate as absolutely top notch, I'm always a little disappointed by the album when I listen to it right through. It could've been transcendental, instead it's just decent
You missed 2 Charlie's song damn
Up&Up is a great video
Please react to the 1975's new song I'm in love with you. It's amazing
