- Washing Machine Making a Loud Noise? - Top 10 reasons and EASY DIY instructions to get your Washing Machine back to working order. For a full article, please visit: www.appliancepartspros.com/b/...
Reason #1: Bad Tub Bearings: Tub bearings allow the washer shaft to rotate as the washer goes through the cycles. Bearings can fail due to age, resulting in loud sounds coming from the washer.

Reason #2: Suspension Parts: These work together to keep the washer in balance. Springs, shock absorbers, and suspension rods are all included in this part package. When they fail you may hear screeching sounds from the affected part.
Reason #3: Spider Support Arm: As the motor turns, the arm spins to agitate the clothes. Failure in this part may make the washing machine go out of balance, creating squealing sounds.
Reason #4: Coupler: The motor coupling connects the motor to the transmission. The coupler parts work together so the motor can spin the transmission. If the coupler has failed, the dryer may not agitate or spin. It may also create grinding sounds if there is a problem with these parts as they scrape together.
Reason #5: Drive Belt: The drive belt connects the motor pulley to the drive pulley. If it’s damaged, it will make sounds as it goes through the pulleys, which may squeal loudly.
Reason #6: Drive Pulley: The drive pulley is opposite the washer pulley and drives the washing machine. If the drive pulley is bent or damaged, it could be wobbling as it rotates and making noise.
Reason #7: Clutch - The clutch gradually gets the washer tub up to speed during the spin cycle. If the material wears out, you may get a loud metal on metal noise.
Reason #8: Drain Pump - Used to remove the water from the tub during the wash and spin cycle. If the pump is making noise, it could be that the bearings or impeller have failed, and the pump needs to be replaced.
Reason #9: Drive Motor - Converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the washer. If the motor is making noise, it’s usually because the bearings in the drive motor have gone bad.
Reason #10: Water Inlet Valve - The water inlet valve controls the hot and cold water that enters the tub. If the washer is making noise during the spin cycle, the water inlet valve could be going bad.

It would help narrow the diagnosing if you would include the actual sounds associated with each problem. Thanks!
OMG YES!!! Spent the last hour trying to find any video that has that. 🤦♀️. We need a Linus For appliance repairs🤪. These are all done by repair guys. I'd like to know before pulling it all apart if I can or can't fix it and how long it might take🤦♀️. Can only do that if I can figure out what the sound is from...
It's a humming while spinning. No it's not bearings... Those are silent when it's not powered. I keep seeing Most likely it's the bearings and to check...... Blah blah.... With0 followup on if it's not the bearings
You read my mind!
Yes!! 1000%
Yes! Aaagh! So frustrating... mine sounds like it is about to launch into space.
Great video but it would have been nice to hear samples of the sounds that could have been a result of something failing.

So what is the cause of the noises? What part have you replaced?
Very thorough breakdown and nice to see all the parts pictured. Thx!

Will you hear the clutch during the spin cycle? It’s the only time we can hear it, but it sounds like grinding and the frequency increases with each rotation.
My Maytag top loading washing machine with an agitator sometimes makes a faint banging when it is spinning. What would cause that?
My Frigidaire model FFTW1001TW washing machine is about 7 years old. There are two of us, so we only do a few washes a week. Occasionally, when it's not washing anything it makes noises that last for a minute or two - sounds like vibrations. I can hear this noise through the wall. When I look into the washing machine, I don't see anything moving. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
Hi!I have just bought a top loading wobble tecknowlegy samsung machine .In the first wash it is making so much noise .what.can one understand from this ?
My old Whirlpool top loader transmission is making noise when spinning. I don’t think the neutral assembly is working correctly. Checked all the parts and see no wear. What else could be wrong. Clutch is new as well as motor coupler.
How to know if transmission is going out? My 4-yr old top loader began making a very loud metallic sound every 6 seconds or so.
getting loud high pitched noise during wash cycle. I just washed a load for the first time after replacing the pump on an older topload model. Now getting the noise in the second load. stopped the machine to come on here and see what it could be
I replaced the pump after roommate said the machine wasn't draining.
I have a restored whirlpool calypso. I used it for a year and then put it into storage for the last 5 years. my new place has a washer dryer hookup. I tested the washer today through a cycle everything was fine until it got to the spin cycle. started making a loud noise like it was straining to spin. I have a appliance repair man coming this saturday.
What did this end up being?
5 years unused.... Dried up belt or other rubber parts is very very likely
My Maytag top loader is making a grinding / buzzingsound as it agitates. It seems to be functioning fine. The silly thing is 18 months old and already been serviced once.
you can buy motor bearings, most have the part number right on them. heck you can upgrade them with stronger ones if your feeling ambitious.
I have a top load Whirlpool 6 light washer. There is a loud clicking sound during the wash cycle and there is a strong detergent smell after. Sometimes it doesn’t drain fully. Any idea what the issue is?
Sounds like a pump issue... Maybe the pump that goes to the detergent dispenser if they had one for some unknown reason 😅
Why not include the actual sound or at least a description of the sound. Without that, this video is useless
What kind of sound is your machine making? What is the model number of your washer?
When I turn mine on and it is just filling up it is so loud, why do you think it does that and what can I do to fix it?
Water inlet valve if you watch at 7 min 45 seconds
@@laurenharrison3400 that or the pump
my Hitachi top loader bang sound after spin cycle..why?
Great vid, but we need examples of each to help narrow it down. Thanks
What is going on with your washer?
@appliancepartspros very loud EHH sound every time the motor turns the tub. Did not make the sound in years past. Thank you!
Have you had error codes come up on the machine? What is your model number?
@@appliancepartspros lg model wt901cf. No error codes
My washer rocks so loud and shakes during spin cycle. How much is the fix? Almost sounds like it’s going to break all apart when that happens.
From what the video talked about, that sounds like suspension or bearings.
The cost is definitely dependent on your area or whether you’re going to attempt it yourself.
I need help how to wash your sitting for 18 months we tried to use it it wouldn't spin out from the wash cycle but it did wash from what I understand the guy came out changed the lid sensor it wouldn't ever filled up if it that's what it was I don't think he said he ran it through a cycle for 40 minutes and it washed and spun out and everything he said try it with clothes we put in three small clothes short shorts and socks same thing it washed but it went and it goes to spin it'll drain but it won't spin he says it's bearings is about 4,500 and it's not worth fixing what if it was bearings wouldn't it make some kind of noise.? He got mad at me offered to give me my money back said he was washing his hands of this he don't have anything to do with it just cuz I asked a question he got all blown up. What do I do so this doesn't happen again I think it's fixable it's not making any bad noises it's not rumbling out of balance it's just not doing the spin cycle but it does the wash cycle from what I understand and it drains then the flashing light I can't find my manual and I can't get out there physically to look up the model number and some whirlpool and they're good ones maybe 3 years old 4 years old only been used about a year
good instruction..now if you guys could place your hot and cold. Valves on the correct sides would be much less confusing to a novice.
shots fired.
What causes grinding noise?
What is your model number?
I hear a clunk each time the rinse or spin cycle starts but not during the entire cycle.....
Mine does the same thing. Did you fix it?
step bro what are you doing
My top washer (Kenmore series 100) won’t let us press the on button / start a cycle and it makes noise as soon as it’s plugged in (but doesn’t fill with water, no parts are moving, and it doesn’t stop making noise if you open the top either 😭).
What is the model number of your washer? What kind of noise is it making?
Not sure what model it is (the top says kenmore series 100), but it makes a load humming noise as if it’s starting a load, but the start button won’t work and there’s nothing in the wash. It only stops if we unplug it, but it starts as soon as we plug it in. Also, we think we saw a little water below the tub when we took the back panel off. The drain out of the washer wasn’t clogged, the belt was still on, but we couldn’t really see much else outside of that.
We have replaced this, the actuator, the assembly under the plate inside tube, replaced belt. STILL HAVE A GRINDING NOISE
What is your model number?
Ok
Because a service man came by and changed 4 plastic part on the top but still shakes violently and doesn't drain water.
Have you followed the Calibration? There is a service technician manual inside the chassis. You need to calibrate your washer every time you replace the motor, suspension, etc.
Now it sounds as though things are falling off or coming off during any agitation with it without water.
It’s a top loading Samsung
What is the model number of your washer? Have you had any error codes come up on the machine?
