Wow! That was the most well spent 11 minutes to watch this. Going step by step for all those possibilities was perfect. Even more, you showed not only what you “should” see, but also what you “shouldn’t “, i.e. the belts, the meter readings, damaged parts. I knew what I needed to check AND how to fix it! Thanks, you made my day!!
On my washer, it turned out to be the washer shift actuator. The washer spun, but agitator was not working properly. Checked the dogs, but they looked fine. That's when I noticed the shift actuator was staying in the same position to spin at high speed, but not changing position to activate the agitator. Ordered it online, $50 part, and it's all good now. Easy to replace too!
I didn’t see this in the video either but I just tried it and it worked. 🤷♀️ my washer filled and then just sat there doing nothing, making no noise. Lifted lid and closed 6 times. Now it’s choochin.
Wow, I want to challenge my washer repair by myself and maybe my brother be interested to master it, before to attempt shopping new one. I'm appreciate your description details, which teach and encourage me to get through this challenge. Thanks , I will let you know later 😊
Great video! Very concise and thorough! The examples showed very clearly what to look for and what to do as well as examples of what could be wrong. Excellent presentation! 👍🏻👍🏻
In my experience, you get it off with lots of frustration! I ended up using 3 of those little airbags used for getting into a locked car and it just popped off.
Awesome video..I have a GE profile washer. Not only was it not agitating, it would not respond to the according phase. When I would hit final spin, it would go into rinse mode. When I would hit rinse, it would go into the wash mode but not agitate. If I unplug the machine, it would eventually start washing, but not finish the whole cycle..It wouldn't wash, rinse, spin. I would have to wash again to rinse then hit final spin. But, it wouldn't spin, just makes the drain sound. Eventually, I can do the final spin. If takes like 3 days to wash a load. I bought a new system board and replaced it tonight. The functions perform, but still just continues to fill and not agitate. Mine is GE profile model WPRB8050D1WW. System board is 175D4489G004 Unfortunately, they're are no qualified repairman in my area. Either I've hired them before with no luck or they have bad reviews. Any advice??
It is excellent presentation. But my washer is filling water, and going to wash mode and motor is humming but not turning. It could be either capacitor or some thing jam in agitator but it is moving freely so I think it is capacitor and I needed special meter to check it so I have order capacitor and meter to check my old one. If good I have to look into transmission part.
Thanks for this post and description. We have a 1980 Kenmore washing machine that does not agitate on some cycles and hums or clicks when not agitating, but still spins. It also makes loud noises near spinning cycle. Could it be the same issue?

I have a top load Amana washer that is not agitating. The dogs look ok to me and the top part of agitator seems to work ok. The bottom part feels loose. Should I be able to just pop off the entire agitator assembly in one piece? I don't want to pull to hard if not. I had tried to get the bolt off on top part of assembly but that sucker is on there good. WD40 did not help.
Hey man I got one of the whirlpool model washers from late 2000s 2007-9. It locks the lid when operating and the only way to trick it so you can see if operate is to take the strike off and make the machine think the door is closed. But …… my machine just starting making a loud clicking noise during the agitation “(when the wash light is on just before rinse light is on) it’s moving the drum just a tiny amount and making that noise. It’s only doing it when it’s trying to wash a king size comforter and it’s heavy as hell. Is it possible the belt is slipping and causing a noise like that?? Or have you seen it be something else?
What if the agitator won't move at all? This only says if it freely moves both ways. If it is frozen is that the transmission beeing bound up? I wish that was more clear.
The models that have the plastic piece and metal clip on top the spanner nut. If the plastic piece and metal clip is missing would it prevent agitation? RE:WTW4800BQ0 Im only getting a slow rpm spin after water fills up. Your diagram shows a different style cam kit. Ig i apply pressure to top of agitator it agitates properly.
I checked the model you provided and I don't show the plastic and metal piece listed for that unit. It sounds like you need to check the agitator, splutch, and the agitator dogs visually for any damage.
Hello there, i have a WTW5700XL0.... You will need to double check the installation of the shift actuator. Also, check the splutch, make sure those parts are not damaged or worn. Check the shaft on the transmission and the actuator to make sure those aren't damaged.

lat9206bae maytag top washer barley agitates. it's not anything you mentioned but could it be transmission when it still spins and slite agitation.
Have you had any error codes come up on the machine?
You recommend removing the Agitator, but you dont explain "HOW" to remove the agitator ???
Once you have the nut removed just pull it off. You may need to apply some force to get it off but it should come off.
What a PITA......I think I'll just go buy a new one.
I think the coupling is stuck in the spines of my agitator bc when I removed it, I just saw the drive shaft...
