This Text is so beautiful,, we learnt this song in elementarny school, and the teacher said that green sleeve is the dress of her because it is really unique as colour and materiał in that time
I would respectfully disagree. Elizabeth was a thoroughly manipulative and evil monarch. She promoted the Protestant heresy and brought about a sort of compromise church, a halfway house between Catholicism and Lutheranism and Calvinism. She was excommunicated by St. Pope Pius V who encouraged her Catholic subjects to rise up against her. She brutally put down the northern uprising of Catholics in 1570 and executed her cousin both the Duke of Norfolk and Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scotland who had a stronger claim to the throne of England through her descending from the sister of Henry VIII than her bastard cousin Elizabeth. If I was an English man living at that period and a loyal son of the One, True, Roman, Catholic and Apostolic church. I would without a shadow of a doubt supported the true and rightful heir to the throne of England Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland. She brutally executed Roman Catholic priests? trying to reconvert England to the One True faith. A despicable and evil woman. On her deathbed, she was supposed to have dismissed the Anglican priests brought to her to give her the last rites as mere “hedge priests” Shd knew deep down in her soul that the church she helped establish was s false, schismatic and heretical church which would damn many of her subjects to hell. It was and still is a false church to this very day and will not help men to gain their salvation. It will take a great miracle which onlyGod can bring about to bring back England to the One,True Faith. Maybe the Great, Catholic Monarch and the Holy Pontiff and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will bring that day nearer than Ed think. Vive Christo Rey!!!!🙏🙏🙏
In so many ways - the Protestant rebellion/reformation well and truly cemented - though arguably Cranmer, Latimer and Crowell were the architects. Pissed off Spain - led eventually to Spanish Armada and all that - and of course the Union produced Elizabeth 1 arguably one of the top 3 monarchs in the UK of all time. The rise of England as a huge power led to the USA in thee end and the modern world as we know it.
She did such a good job playing Anne Boleyn, i think everyone wishes that this was the truth of their relationship and that it was full of passion. Sure The Tudors series has been a bit over exagerated but this is what i would of liked to happen, my favourite of the kings wives.
This is what really happened...Yes! Some things are a bit exaggerated but around this time in many of these clips, Henry was desperately *IN LOVE* with Anne. He chased her for 7 years, bought her many gifts, wrote dozens of love letters to her with his own hand. Tearing his kingdom apart, upside down, breaking away from the church, executing many people and many of England’s people went against him but he didn’t care because his love for Anne and his desperation for a son blinded him. At this point in time that was their reality. It was full of passion and sensuality and chaos but they still loved each other very deeply. Until she wasn’t giving him the boy that he craved, she gave him a girl instead and several miscarriages. The people who were against Anne began to get in Henry’s ear, manipulating him in many ways and him believing it, just to get rid of Anne since she wasn’t doing her “duties” as Queen and to find another to have his son. But there passion in the show I believe was very well done it perfectly captured the love, sex, passion, and hate of their relationship.
Henry had gambled away England’s ties with Rome,it’s history, culture, future and possibly composed this song just for Anne, and in the end to thank her for being his Wife,he sliced her head off How ironic
Alas, my love, you do me wrong To cast me off discourteously For I have loved you oh so long Delighting in your company Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight Greensleeves was my heart of gold And who but my lady Greensleeves Well, I will pray to God on high That thou my constancy mayst see And that yet once before I die Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight Greensleeves was my heart of gold And who but my lady Greensleeves Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu To God I pray to prosper thee For I am still thy lover true Come once again and love me Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight Greensleeves was my heart of gold And who but my lady Greensleeves
Finally a version with the mischievous major (dorian) sixth - aptly falling on the word 'love' in the first verse. Common versions with the "logical" minor sixth are so impoverished by the lack of this precious little delight.

FYI: Did you know Greensleeve was a term given to a prostitute or a very promiscuous woman in Medieval/Renaissance England? They would get busy in the fields and by the end of the day their sleeves would be green from laying into the grass.

It's an urban legend that it was written by Henry, also the song suits them, so I don't see the problem, heck, there's a video about Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon to Girlfriend by Avril laveigne ( no idea how to spell that)

They aren’t romantic at all. If his heart ever had love her that was truly deep, he couldn’t have gone off with another woman and allowed her execution. How can someone find their love true?
16th century Italian Music, not written by Henry for Anne as is well believed.. sorry but this is more Elizabethan.. do the research if you dont believe!!
It still suits them. This is a music video, not a documentary. There are also a lot with pop songs and I am pretty sure Anne did not compose "Teen Idle".
The song isn't Italian, only the style of composition. It would be like claiming the music of German heavy metal musicians is American due to the origin of the genre.
The music is very pathetic. That's why the music is lyrical. The story is a bit sad, but I think the main characters will still be happy. I'm positive and forward-thinking, yes, thank you. I'm fighting off evil things, I'm sure there's more merit than error. I'm sure.
This is ridiculous! Most of this is inaudible garbage. The tones are all off and it sounds like they're trying to sing it in a stereotypical Asian accent!

I truly believe that after Henry killed Anne Boleyn he regretted it which is why he wrote a song about her💚
He didn't write this song. It was written in 1580, years after Henry's desth.
They look so much in love and Herry didn't desirve that love .That why he was sad for the rest of his life because of his great lost (Anne).
