The real irony here is that Kuzco was already off the bridge. He only fell through because he went back just so he could have the last word.
He cared more about being an asshole than he did about getting back to the palace.
Same goes for the jaguar chase. They only woke up because Kuzco laughed at the squirrel.

This is one of those movies that just seems to get better as you get older. The humor is silly, but well crafted. My favorite lines were when they were tied to the log and about to go over the waterfall.
    "Uh-oh."
"Let me guess. We're about to go over a waterfall."
    "Yep."
"Razer sharp rocks at the bottom?"
    "Most likely."
    "Bring it on...BOO-YAH!"
It was the flat deadpan delivery that did it. My friends and I used variations of that one for years.

Agreed Kronk and the squirrel are the best! Amazingly Disney seems to think so as well since the sequel is Kronk’s New Groove! My favorite joke in this movie is when they get to the palace and it turns out Yzma and Kronk have arrived ahead of them. They ask how they got their before them and Yzma then also looks confused and asks Kronk. And then Kronk just admits that by all accounts it doesn’t make any sense which is basically the writers saying to the audience “Yeah we aren’t even going to bother to come up with a plausible explanation so deal with it.” And that’s it the movie just keeps going. It still makes me laugh do much because it’s such a subversion of expectation!

There are two reasons Yzma ends up as a cat. The first is the actress who plays Yzma is Eartha KITT, who was a singer & actress. The second is that Eartha played Catwoman in the Batman TV series. She was the third actress to play the character.
David Spade, who played Kuzco was in a TV series with Wendie Malick, who was the voice of Pacha's wife, Chicha called Just Shoot Me! It's a very funny show if you ever get the chance to see it.

They would return to the 2D medium for 'Princess and the Frog' in 2009, but it didn't do well, and so Disney stopped making 2D movies all together. Really sad.

When my little sister saw the movie for the first time, this scene was the first she talked to me 🤭🤭
But, I have to admit I prefer the french version for this scene because when Yzma falls, she shouts " NOT THIS OOOONE !!!!! "

Loved this movie as a child and the show that came after! Surprised you've never heard of it.
You should react to The Hunchback of Notre Dame next! It's the darkest Disney movie

“You wanna live forever?” is actually a Marine Corps legend. On June 10, 1918 during the battle of Belleau Wood 44-year old MC First Sergeant Dan Daly single-handedly attacked and destroyed an enemy machine gun replacement with a pistol and hand grenades. He reportedly told his unit “C’mon you SOBs! You wanna live forever?” The movie is paying homage. It was also reffed in Starship Troopers by Micheal Ironside’s character.
    This is my fav Disney!
Best Line: And you know what? I never liked your spinach puffs!”

Kuzco is my Disney princess. This movie had a ton of problems and had to be rewritten and made in like 2 years I think. In the original there was more singing and Yzma wanted to block out the sun.

Not really related as far as content, but the voice of Kronk reminded me of another incredible (if perhaps a bit under appreciated due to a not particularly big worldwide release) film that also includes that actor.
The Dish (2000) is a whimsical comedy drama in a story loosely based on the Australian crew that ran the giant satellite dish that helped with transmission of the video signal from Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon. The characters and humor are the good part though - so many quotable lines and it’s one of my favorite movies ever.
