I was never close with my grandmother, but my great grandmother was the greatest. She died when I was 7, but we could talk about cooking all day with each other. I’m 32 now and still use a lot of her recipes.
That’s great! I never had a grandmother she died when I was an infant. Barely had a mother, she died when she was 41 from leukaemia. I did have my aunt who was all of them wrapped in one. She was the most beautiful, kind, loving and special lady. It was an Italian family so I called her my #1 Zia. She had 4 kids but loved me like I was her 5th. I would do anything for her, spend my last dime for her. She cooked like Nonna P and I have many of her recipes in her handwriting written down. I wouldn’t sell them for a million dollars. My Aunt Jeanie (#1 Zia) passed away 4 years ago from aggressive cancer. It’s was devastating. I’m still so broken over losing her. I can relate completely to your loss. I’m so sorry. Cherish her recipes and teach the younger kids her recipes. That’s how she’ll live on. I wish you peace and your great grandmother eternal rest in heaven. 🙏🏻

my neighbor downstairs from italy used to put all the long pasta over broom handles then hang it between two chairs. she used to cut by hand. took all day for 2 people.
Notice how she always says "bring it upstairs". That's a very Italian thing to do, do the cooking in the basement. We had a kitchen in our basement and my mother would cook fish down there not to smell up the house or in the summer cook there where it was cooler.
She is the most precious lady I bet she loves her grands so much and all her family!
