  • Percussive Massage Therapy using a massage gun (aka a percussion massager) for knee pain relief uses fast, soft pulses over a short amount of time to get deep down into the muscle fibers. Buy the iReliev Percussion Massager at: ireliev.com/product/percussio... (affiliate link)
    The continuous taps help muscles relax and heal. A massage gun works great to help relieve knee pain. Focusing on the muscles around the knee will help loosen up the area and relieve pain. The quads, IT band and tensor fasciae latae (TFL), hamstrings, calves, and even the anterior tibialis are the main muscles that cross the knee joint or affect the knee joint when tight or not balanced.
    Like a traditional massage, a percussion massager helps to reduce inflammation and increasing circulation. It can help relax tight muscles, break up scar tissue and adhesions, and minimize muscle soreness and tension. Some studies have found percussive therapy to be as effective as massage in preventing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
    In this video, I’m using the iReliev Wireless Percussion Massager. In addition to being wireless, the unit is very quiet, and it comes with four different head attachments to target various areas. It also includes a nice carrying case to keep everything organized and in one place.

    Which model do you think is today the best? I understand that the stall force (the force that you need to stop the movement) and the amplitude of movement are the 2 most important factors... For example the theragun has 16mm of excursion amplitude and a very hight stall force...

      I was doing pretty well along with my rehab I was starting to do cutting and jumping. I received one as a gift and used the joint head for swelling around my kneecap. I think it may be better off to not use for a joint. It left some bruising and I’ve had to dial back on the pressure I put on my knee. so I’d stay away from the knee joint itself but it does great for the quad,hamstring, and calf’s.

  • @vigorousera
    @vigorousera Před 3 lety +2

    Do you recommend keeping your muscles "limp" when using the massage gun, or can they be in a stretched position?
    I'm thinking about my quads specifically, whether I could use this seated at my desk (where my quads would be somewhat "taut" and not fully loose), or if I need to lay down to let my legs go completely slack.
    Thanks for the informative video!

      Did they do an Arthrogram for the MRI? its a dye they shoot into your knee to see the ligaments better. I only say that because I had the same thing on my shoulder. The MRI said everything was good with no tears. Overtime it kept hurting and I went to another doctor and he recommended an Arthrogram. Once I got that they found a labral tear in my shoulder and I just had surgery for it. Feel a lot better now. Some doctors try to avoid that topic. Let your doc know and speak up!
