How to Use a Percussion Massage Gun for Shoulder & Neck Pain Relief

  • Percussive Massage Therapy using a massage gun (aka a percussion massager) for neck & shoulder pain uses fast, soft pulses over a short amount of time to get deep down into the muscle fibers. Buy the iReliev Percussion Massager at: ireliev.com/product/percussio... (affiliate link)
    The continuous taps help muscles relax and heal. A massage gun works great to help relieve shoulder and neck pain. Focusing on areas like the levator scapulae and upper trap muscles is a good place to start. But make sure to be aware of the precautions before beginning. An important precaution is to not use a percussion massager on the front of the neck.
    Like a traditional massage, a percussion massager helps to reduce inflammation and increasing circulation. It can help relax tight muscles, break up scar tissue and adhesions, and minimize muscle soreness and tension. Some studies have found percussive therapy to be as effective as massage in preventing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
    In this video, I’m using the iReliev Wireless Percussion Massager. In addition to being wireless, the unit is very quiet, and it comes with four different head attachments to target various areas. It also includes a nice carrying case to keep everything organized and in one place.

      I'm 22 and I don't know how I got this problem in my knee maybe due to some injury or heavy weight lifting.

      @Tony Camaj usually what people mean by a pinched nerve is general muscle or nerve pain. A pinched nerve actually trapped or pressed on by a slipped or ruptured disc or arthritis will no be helped by this device. A pinched nerve like the piriformis muscle pinching the sciatica could theoretically be relieved by percussion massagers but I haven’t found relief of any back/piriformis/sciatic pain. I do find it feels nice to relieve a bit of tension, but don’t expect it to heal actual medical/chronic pain conditions.

    • @BodyFixExercises
      @BodyFixExercises Před 2 lety +5

      This is very dangerous! The jaw/TMJ joint is about the most sensitive joint in the body. You could permanently damage the disc in the joint. The only way you could use it on the jaw is using the foam ball...on the side. (So it's going parallel to the skin ) but even then I wouldn't personally do it. Too much risk of doing damage.

    Why don't put it by your carotid artery? I heard not to use it on your head either. Where do I use it for a migraine? Thank you.
