    In first you told your way of memorizing oxidation and reduction. but my chemistry sir told another trick which I found helpful I am posting that trick here not to tell that your trick was complex but to let people know some other tricks also so without further delay here it is :-
    LEO GER
    here
    L - loss of
    E - electron
    O - oxidation
    G - gain of
    E - electron
    R - reduction

    Sir in this video you have made a mistake In the reaction of CaCO3- Cao+CO2 in this no oxygen has increased from -6 to -4 so the reaction should be oxidation but you have told something else please fix this

    For the mercury oxide reduction reaction, wouldn't oxygen be oxidized since it is losing electrons? Meanwhile, Mercury is gaining electron (thus becoming more negative) and being reduced? Using your heuristic: 100 DOR, Oxygen oxidation # is increasing and Mercury decreasing.

    Sir this won't work in all the places because if the compound has peroxide linkage or same electronegativity linkage the oxi . State will vary
