I remember seeing the bridge just as Theresa said, "This used to be Oakvale..."
Duchess of Earl Grey me too i didn't even think of it until she mentioned it. Lol i was so surprised
Sounds like witchwood. It'd be cool if it actually was Oakvales theme just distorted to all hell
So eerie and such a cool moment the first time! Games can have such cool moments that are native only to the medium
@@Jackspiring it is oakvales theme if you listen closely at 2:41
That moment was so fucking cool. What mastery turning a jovial, safe fun song into something dark and sinister and wrong... what a moment!
One That can only really be a moment in a game
Also has anyone ever thought that the little girls with red eyes that the banshee throws at you could in fact be your sister from fable 1?
Wraithmarsh was such a creepy area, and when I realised that the place used to be Oakvale I had to stop for a moment under the bridge and look out over the marsh and the ruins of the buildings, it made me imagine what the village's final days must have been like as Reaver's greed brought an end to such a charming village.
It made me hate him considerably. It's a shame that you are never allowed to make him pay for what he did.
The whole Wraithmarsh reminds us of the original Oakvale and the fields next to it... there is a demon door right at the place of the one that wanted you to be fat... You can find chocolate where you gave it to your sister and there is Rosies grave....
When I saw the sign reading Oakvale I had to pause the game in terror... When I got to the original entrance, the bridge, I even cried...
I spent a long time of my childhood in oakvale and seeing it like this killed a part of me...
Oh my.. This is the saddest place I ever seen
When I first found out who did it to Oakvale, I just wanted to shoot so badly but he was important to the game.
Notice how it is twisted from the oakvale theme in fable one. "this used to be oakvale, though it has changed radically since i saw it last, 500 years ago bandits burned the village to the ground, the villagers rebuilt their lives only to have it destroyed a 2nd and final time, a threat that came from within, a villager made a deal with the forces of shadow in exchange they took all the villagers, everyone he loved and now the marsh has engulfed the village and it lies forgotten"
No offence to cod, halo, and gears, but if you have played all of the fables from the very start, you will know that this is one of the best storyline's ever!:)
The soundtrack of oakvale and darkwood combined, just sinister.
The music box elements in the background are the best part of this piece for me, it gives the music such a sad, yet nostalgic feel at the same time, i love it
that music box in the background of the Okavale theme is truly saddening. :/
R.I.P Barnum
The best business partner. Wish there was a way to save him from reaver
Wraithmarsh was my least favourite region. when i walked up the hill and through the wooden bridge, i had a flashback to my days as a young boy in Oakvale. it made me sad to think that some of those hollow men might have been the people that once inhabited that peaceful town.
I think Darkwood was what over took Oakvale and then parts over grew and blocked it off from the original swamp.
Sophia Fitzpatrick you are correct the dark wood did merge freaking creepy place I love hunting banshees
Unfortunately so, after reaver took the towns lives with the help of The Three, the cults of darkness in darkwood took over and transformed it into a world of terror and fear, but with the help of their rituals they could summon all sorts of demons and banshees
I think the theme is mixed with darkwood aswell as oakvale
Right. Not only is Darkwood took over Oakvale, but also Barrow Fields and Grey House. Which means that Wraithmarsh is larger than we think. It give me creeps to think about that.
Reaver's story would make a good DLC.
2:42 if you actually listen you can actually here the oakvale theme but twisted lol
you've got to admit this is some really chilling music! amazing sound team at LH
The banshees were a bore to fight. But this place was pretty creepy! I liked it.
Lunar White yh I like the location but the music was very creepy
I listened real close to the banshees. They said some really spine-chilling things. Including (spoiler), something that might have made you suspect Teresa early: "She watched you fall from the window~”
The full quote actually refers to Rose, your sister. How she didn't die immediately from Lucien's gun, how she watched you fall from the window.
Wraithmarsh always scared the crap out of me. ._.
2:49 , twisted tf outta that
It's been years since I've last played Fable II, and this place still haunts me. Few places in all of gaming truly feel haunted and outright hostile to life, but nothing has ever come close to Wraithmarsh. It's not even close. I've never played the original Fable but just knowing this used to be Oakvale, and that it even once managed to recover, just to end up.. Like this? It's enough to invite dread into your heart.
"This used to be Oakvale." Now it's a place where nightmares roam. And they are very much real.
In context to Reaver, he is evil. Being a hero doesn't mean you're good, it means that you posses a special ability/ power that only 'Hero's" do.
Also i just realised that this is supposed to be a mix of Darkwood aswell lol or at least it does sound similar to darkwood
holy shit, you can actually hear the oakvale theme around 2:40
Wraithmarsh has such a horrible history and is so creepy. I love it. Not the history, I mean the place in general. I go there all the time just to get creeped out. The Nursery house made me the most nervous.
@MrTotallyRad when i walked threw and seen the bridge, a quiver went down my spine cause at first i thought that they just renamed Oakvale to Oakfeilds and that the original Oakvale was just dark wood
I have a theory
What if reaver caused the bubonic plague or the black death, i mean look at this way, he used the Judges of Fate,Misery,Despair to his advantage and sacrificed everyone for eternal life causing the black death.
Picture this. You're going along, first time there in Wraithmarsh. You reach the place where the Oakvale bridge still stands, and you go up the hill to cross it. Once safe on the other side, you get a really bad feeling, and you slowly turn around. Out of the misted tunnel of the bridge...steps a salivating Balverine....
I love Wraithmarsh, I also like Reaver, hes just a tad impatient man with wicked gun skills. In defense of Reaver he didn't mean to destroy Oakvale. If you buy his house you can find his dairies saying such things.
At least someone remembered.
That he didn't mean to destory Oakvale.
But over time Reaver stop caring and became Insane.
He wasn't evil at first but by fable 3 the man had been replaced by an exploitive monster
As much as I actually love Fable III it's definitely the weakest, and Reaver's character was one of it's many shortcomings imo.
It would have been great to explore that side of him that was only hinted at in II, the guilt he's hidden away deep inside, the Oakvale villager he used to be. He's still a vein, greedy, self-centered asshole who's lived his life as a pirate, but he never meant for his whole village to be destroyed, loved ones included. That must have stayed with him. We got hints at this through his diary.
Then Fable III comes along and he's a full-on douchebag villain. Maybe if helping to defeat Lucien and saving the world awoke the hero inside of him? I'm not saying he'd change his ways and become a good guy, but maybe he'd have a bit more internal conflict, more depth to his character. A secretly guilt-ridden fallen hero and Oakvale villager trying to break out of a vein, selfish, immortal asshole who only cares about himself could have been interesting to see.
So yeah just drove with this song blaring out my windows while in thick freaking fog. Ngl half expected a banshee or the undead to pop up. Lmao
i think the demon door in wraithmarsh is the one is barrow fields because the distance from the cullis gate like in the original fable are incredibly close, and its right next to a river thing to
3:24 my fav part
Pity. I wanted to kill him a lot in Fable 3, but sadly they didn't give the option of 'Kill Reaver, yes or no', I would have picked yes every time. He's a character you love to hate.
Oakvale my favorite town in fable lost chapters! :(
Why do people call it the lost chapters that's not what its originally called
It was a dlc for fable! That they added an extra story line in the main story
I love how you can hear a little of same melody of Oakvale still in there. =.)
2:43 that confirms it its Oakvale
i have a phobia of BANSHEES and the MUISIC BOX
they make me go CRAZY!
th3cr1ng3l0rd I'm not afraid of the banshee bitches I kicked so many of there demonic assess last count was 300 banshee killed
In 'See the Future', you go to an old time Oakvale. Where you can kill the shadow court.
Not exactly REVENGE, it's not set in the right time period to be considered that, but, it's satisfying.
Creepiest part of this song is the music box..
Thanks for the link to the songs.
sound like the oakvale music destorted part of it sometimes the music makes me very uneasy
It is oakvales music but destorted lol it was oakvale at one point don't forget
Truly fantastic. Liked & Favourited.
Ah I love wraithmarsh
It's the little lullaby in the middle of all that sinister music...becoming PART of the evil...that truly terrifies.
1:19 is so haunting!
We know theresa supplies murgo with old kingdom relics in the see the future dlc, the snow globe you get was from her, and oakvale and it's people's spirits were in it. Was she trying to free her people?
Yes, she knew a hero would come but as i said to one of the commenters, where the judges come from, the souls they manage to take are put into the very nightmare they fear, that's how mostly they get they're power from
in fable 1 you can remodle all houses i wanna do that with wraithmarsh so that it becomes oakvale again T^T also with the howling halls
I can only imagine :D
This song sounds so much like oakvale´s theme(obviously) but is much fucking more creepy.
I feel like they botched either Lucien or Reaver's development, because after doing Reaver's quest it really presents Reaver as more villainous than Lucien.
2:40 eerie as fuck
That's the oakvale theme
I agree
I love going to wraithmarsh :3 it used to creep me out so i never went there unless i had to, but now i go there for the love of being creeped out >:3 You don't really hear the music in the game though :/ Well, I don't anyways.
2:56 old oakvale theme!
Not only does Reaver destroy Oakvale for immortality and murder Barnum, but he also forces you into a lousy situation involving The Shadow Court. In the end I let them take the girl, reasoning my character would do more good the longer he lived. I hated him so much at that point... and then he betrays me again for Lucien's bounty. What a nice guy. For those wondering he's back in fable 3. Advertisements for Reaver Industries can be seen in the trailer with the company tagline "Work or Starve".
This is a more eerie version of OakVale, seeing as WraithMarsh is--was Oakvale five hundred years ago.
@puncher85438 That's a nice find there!
Madam Ursula's Home For Little Lost Souls
mmm another misterius song
Wait, no, it's actually "Miss Ursula's House For Little Lost Souls". In the DLC "See The Future", you discover that it used to be known as "Miss Ursula's Little Tykes School".
***SPOILERS***
I guess the building must have been transformed due to the Shadow Court's malicious energy that lasted after they obliterated Oakvale.
This music deserves to go under the section as Creepy Video game music. i may have not played the beggining of Fable 1, but still, Reaver must die. The Banshee creeped me out the most with its scream. i'm fighting it and i am like:"Die already so i can leave the creepy hell hole"
my common fighting style:
first lvl 4 time control, then lvl 5 force push explosion...
*everyone dies*
If you listen carefully between this and the Oalvlae music, this is just a scary version.
@senrat94 He is a hero, he can choose to be good or evil as player do.
Hopefully, reaver is immortal if he delivers preys to the Shadow Court.
its sad...Reaver damn u it was so nice..Dont expect Oakvale to be warming..I saw a banshee :'[ oh i also found Broms grave! its behinde this shake..The old traders grave too and Rosies even lol ur hero from first game is in the deep chambers of Castale Fairfax
Rozytao how do you know that? And if you say "the gender changing potion", that was made by Leo Head
Lol, In this, When i go through wraithmarsh i'm to busy thinking "Banshee banshee HOLLOW MAN BALVARINE" And i don't realize the music xD
@iYell2u I feel ya man im frikin playing it right now and its midnight
its short compared to other RPGs like Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3 etc...but its still a good game
@MrTotallyRad He's in Fable 3.
:O
shit the first time i went to wraithmarsh and heard that banshee scream i almost pissed my pants .and it did not help that i was playing during midnight with no lights on
well lets face it... it wouldn't have been as scary running through Oakvale really...
Can you picture the Shadow Court in the picturesque scenery of Oakvale?
I thought not.
it wasent reaver who dystroyed oakvale it was a man who wanted power
@nAngryKitty woot! :D
FABLE 4
Fable 2 is a very good game but too short! like the first one
it's most likely that they are the residents
@therodyman700 one can only dream....
Honestly I think Wraithmarsh is why my anxiety gets so bad at certain times and the Fable series is why I get anxious when I hear music boxes yet I still listen to them. My mom and I used to play this(I played it growing up) and every time I heard the music box(especially in Fable II) I got Shaky and would start to panic which is concerning
@vivi148 Thats where u start the game in fable 1. anybody other than me think its wierd u never meet ur parents in either game?
Uhm yeah, and his name was Reaver.
anyone know a video that shows a way through wraithmarsh? im kinda stuck...
nvm, i was just kinda distracted by ghostie things, and the unusual music. I completed the game the same 2 weeks ago
or a level five electricity
or force push
too bad the brothel is gone
I liked Fable, but the time warp from fable to fable 2 was really large and some of the stuff i loved about fable was not there in fable 2. i downloaded knothole island and i found no similarities between the old and new one. hopefully they release more dlc to smooth out the missing 500 years of albion
Anyone have the songs from that download? The promotion ended and I didn't get a chance to nab 'em. If you have them, please see if you can host them on a site like Megaupload and then send me the link.
@SebDavies117 Actually without Reaver, Fable 2 would have been completely different, He was a pretty important character, even though he was a dick.
@341GuiltySpark with a heart tattoo on his face
@MrSunshine7358 I know right?
Yea on my first game i just wanted the money even tho i was good i was like WHAT A SHIT LOAD PF MONEY!!! So i took it and went to castle fairfax and did the little "minniquest"And got to the very end with a very special potion which i regret taking now but if you go deep enough you can fnd a little tomb and inside it just says "Chicken Chasser" the first name you got in the first one its not like a cool one so yep keep going deeper and u find it :]
Danny Elfman ftw:D
Hannibal Lecter's lullaby!
How do you mean? It sounded to me like he knew what deal he was making. I mean obviously he doesn't have a problem sending a sacrifice once a year, so why would he have minded the initial sacrifice?
@iYell2u i never go there unless i do a quest, and even then i might not go.
Fable 2 released on October 21st 2008, how did this song get released on October 13th 2008? Dude get a pirated pre-release or something?
same thing
Fable 3 is by far the worst of the games i mean they got rid of the iconic oakvale
in fable 2 at least it was there
@kojiro95
Just you wait. He'll use all his 13-year old fans as human sacrifices in order to attain his immortality.
what? i havent bought the castle, cuz i cannot afford it XD u mean his tomb is in the castle?
Can anyone who's a bit more clued up on the Fable universe tell me: As Oakvale became Wraith Marsh, did Wraith Marsh then become Mourningwood?
Hahahaha! Great British, that La Morte guy may even be dead after so many years.
No, wraithmarsh is uninhabitable due to the balverines and banshees. And you can find villagers in Mourning wood
Mourningwood is corrupted Brightwood
Mourningwood is a swamp east of gibbet woods from fable 1
Acually for those who dont know Wraithmarsh died and fell into the sands of aurora and it rookridges cult and evil temple became so overpowered it created darkness incarent which are the three judges who took the nature as well as the souls of most people away and became a desert
@iYell2u hopefully you didn't go into the winter lodge as well that night.
@senrat94 IKR and he shot lucien when i wanted to! ; A ;
