Supremacy + Dragon’s Breath + “Wellock” and the Catalyst makes it better. I mean… you know it’s the only subclass we are allowed to use in a Raid, so bungie gave us an actual damage rotation.

One thing I absolutely despise are catalyst quests that require you to murder things...and then give you an incomplete catalyst that needs more killing to equip it

@@timcal2136it’s just a way for bungie to artificially extend playtime tho. Would you not prefer to just immediately be able to make progress on your catalyst instead of having to do some goofy quest first?

Def doesn't deserve to be on a top 10 list yet as way more testing needs to be done, but the catalyst for Burried Bloodline is actually really crazy for void hunters. On a hunter with gyrfalcon, simply by shooting the gun it'll proc devour, weaken, volatile and invis, and since it has built in devour, you can run other fragments than the devour fragment
Yeah dude as soon as I saw that gun I was super excited. Gyrfalcons with wavesplitter or monarque is good, but bloodline just pumps it up to 11
Usually use nessa's oblation or heart shadow for this kinda build excited to try out blood lines instead.
Pair that with a Warlock with Brairbinds and Collective Obligation, that would be INSANE
@@jaredtherock5692 unless I’m missing something, you cant have Buried Bloodlines and Collective Obligation equipped at the same time for 2 reasons.
The first being they’re both exotic.
The second being they’re both energy weapons and are in the same slot.
Unless you’re saying that have a hunter with Bloodline and a Warlock with Obligation on the same fireteam to have void buffs/debuffs active at all times.

For Leviathans breath, I just took it into dares of eternity. Infinite heavy will not only help you earn the catalyst faster (lots of yellow bars), it will help you upgrade it faster too.
You didnt mention the slept-on aspect of Witherhoard’s catalyst: it maxes out the handling stat, which makes swapping between WH and your other gun feel SO much better
It is such a pain in the ass to grind for now. 300 activity point and 100 guardian kills with grenade launchers. Good luck doing that when mayhem isn't in the playlist

For the love of the Traveler, when you unlock your Witherhoard ALSO Unlock your Eriana's Vow. Both will require 300 and 400 playlist completions respectively and it takes a long ass time. I was a blueberry in December of '21 and it took months to get my Witherhoard catalyst done. Even if you never plan to use Eriana's often, it may be a GOAT gun at some point.
I believe they updated all the monument weapon catalysts to be affected by the Alpha and Beta boster on each Season Pass now, so this should no longer be such a terrible grinds. But I could be wrong here.
Erianas needs a buff by this point. Outclasses completely by exotic primaries and arbalest
Eriana’s Vow desperately needs a damage buff to actually make this suggestion worthwhile
Actually all of the Shadowkeep seasonal exotics require 400 playlist completions
@@mutantraze3681at this point because we have anti-barrier sidearm it's outclassed by a legendary sidearm. the rocket pistol can one shot a barrier, yet erianna's vow, the original anti-barrier gun, can't. it's pretty pathetic
The only annoying part about getting witherhoard cat to me was getting the 100 guardian kills with special grenade launchers
Another added bonus to Witherhoard: The target tagged with it becomes coded as a "taken" enemy therefore allowing Malfeasance to do the bonus damage with its perk
This is actually partially true, it’s not coded as a “taken” enemy. Just a blighted enemy. This distinction is important because malfeasance gains bonus damage on both a witherhoard and taken enemy instance. At least I’m pretty sure :)

The problem is that you can't have 2 exotic guns.
Ager's Scepter really should be on here. Having a point and click champion stun/ insta AOE room freeze is absurd. It also does really strong DPS for a special weapon.
Yep, it's also the coolest catalyst in the game.

A criminally underrated exotic... Agers has my top kill track count on it, it's beyond under used by the community imho
I really like Ager's since I played Stasis a lot, but even on regular Nightfalls it feels a bit underwhelming imo
Community had a tendency to forget strong things not from the current season tbh .
Btw also the 20% boost of the catalyst actually is 20% of the 4x honed edge shot which is essentially 4.80x increased instead of the normal 4.00x
another little tidbit for my fellow hunters, lucky pants malfeasance pairs really nicely with a bait and switch power weapon for insane DPS on longer phase bosses! run marksman dodge and once you've emptied the full 20 rounds with buffed damage, dodge to reload so it's ready, quickly swap to energy weapon and pepper so you can proc bait and switch, then start laying into them with your bait and switch power weapon until the out of luck debuff is gone, then swap back to malfeasance for another magazine of illegally modded fun
The fact that Graviton Lance wasn’t mentioned makes me mad😂 Vorpal with Turn About, and as a void hunter with gfalcon makes you basically invincible. Over-shields for days
Navigator's catalyst has a second use that shouldn't be underestimated: Equipping Thread of Ascent on Strand allows you to reload your weapon whenever you use your grenade ability. With that, the Grapple point can be used for infinite shots from your dps loadout.

Monte Carlo's catalyst is pretty lit. It added a close-range nuke ability that allows me to murder almost anything (short of a miniboss) that invades my personal space. Love it with Banner of War.
The fact that it reprocs itself too is a big bonus

A really good catalyst I like, that doesn't make the list for how little it does, is Hawkmoon. It's insanely simple, just adding 1 ammo in the mag, yet it enables you to miss just 1 more shot and makes it way more forgiving than it was before.
Sometimes simple is still very good
Guess Witherhoard also has this simplicity in its catalyst
The ghunk reload sound of witherhorde with the catalyst always brings a gleeful smile on my face every time.
Malfeasance is such a cool weapon. My favorite exotic is sunshot and always has been my favorite but something about shooting malfeasance just feels good in PvE. I mean it's not amazing unless you're on hunter but the non existent recoil just matches the guns animation and sound so well.
The pain point I and many others have with it, is accessibility. It's the biggest pain in the ass to even get the damn gun in the first place when you can just get Wish-Ender for 1% of the effort and 0 Gambit.
@@xsorrowxkingx5051 I dont disagree that its quest blows I went from not hating gambit to despising gambit because of the quest. But at least now the gun is good and worth getting. Back when I got it, the gun sucked and I only got it because I wanted to have every exotic.
Tip for the Witherhoard Catalyst quest- For the step that requires getting a bunch of pvp kills with grenade launchers, use stasis! Osmiomancy gloves and coldsnaps on Warlock, or Renewal Grasps and duskfields on Hunter make it really easy to get witherhoard kills on other players.
It also doesn't have to be witherhoard. It's any special GL

@@aperezh I wish I had known this when I was doing the catalyst. I just ended up witherhoard-ing point blank at an enemy and punching them to death and that ended up working for most of my kills 😭
Heiarchy of Needs also has a banger catalyst, shooting through the ring makes makes it shoot super fasy dishing out damafe and helps you get the ring back faster allowing for permanent uptime in the right conditions
Literally still haven't got Malfeasance. I remember thinking it was the worst quest of all time back in Forsaken, so I never did it, and now I'm stuck without a team to do the mission. Also, dreading having to play so much Gambit.
For Levi's Breath I would recommend going to the EDZ lost sectors around the church with nightmares at the end for some reason its almost guaranteed to drop the catalyst from a nightmare. Also guys and gals please for any heavy weapon kills farm just go to the Cosmodrome... Go to the area behind Shaw Han where the walker spawns repeatedly, kill it open the chest, 4 heavy ammo brick pop out for every player that opens the chest. I've seen 50-100 heavy bricks just laying on the ground and the ads infinitely spawn in that area along with the walker.
Tip for actually completing the Leviathan's Breath Catalyst: The catalyst is still coded the way it was way back from Season of the Hunt, so you gain more progress from killing Wrathborne enemies with it than regular enemies. Load up the Europa heist Battleground and use Leviathan's breath to kill the Fallen and Hive enemies that have a green glowing aura around them (there's a ton of them in the beginning area once you get inside the facility). Rinse and repeat this area and you'll get the Catalyst done MUCH faster than needing to kill approx 1k regular enemies with a heavy weapon.

Leviathans breath you can also kill the hive knights that spawn from putting the wrong code in, with full heavy ammo finders you should get enough for it to be self sustaining somewhat

Good video! Would be curious to see your top 5/10 Exotics that don't have a catalyst AND what catalyst you'd like to see them have. IE, Lament with Relentless Strikes or Tireless Blade.

1:52 for leviathan’s breath the best place to try and get the catalyst to drop is the heavy ammo lost sector in the cosmodrome. Exodus Garden 2A I think. And then play dares to get the kills to masterwork it. It’ll take about 2 rounds.

Thorn catalyst does drop from strikes. If anyone is doubting it, it does. It took me 35 strikes but I got it.
The whole time I had almost convinced myself it didn't drop from strikes.
Another nice piece of the Witherhoard catalyst is max handling for weapon swaps.
Izanagi's Catalyst increases the damage to +400%, up from +300%, according to the Data Compendium. The bonus is multiplicative, not additive as you implied.
Osteo Striga also has the bonus effect of doing heavy dps on a boss through their shields. Its great for running solo.
Took forever for me to do witherhaosrd catalyst this last month especially the pvp part! That took sooo long. But it is so mandatory.
Striga was vital in my first and only solo dungeon attempt when I ran Spire of The Watcher solo.

The Witherhoard catalyst is so painful. They want you to grind so hard just to unlock it not even to equip the catalyst on the gun!
The Navigator Catalyst is also goated for the Lamp encounter in Crota's End.

My issue with catalysts like the Witherhoard's is the requirement for PVP-specific kills rather than phrasing it as "Guardian kills grant more progress." It's my same pain point for the Malfeasance quest; I fucking refuse to play Gambit after already doing a bunch of other shit for the gun, and I really don't want to suffer in pvp on the off-chance someone like me who is not that good at pvp can maybe get 1 or 2 kills in a game and do that 50-100 times for a gun I would literally rather just slap on kinetic loader/marksman's dodge on for anyway.
I've made peace with the fact I'll never have Malfeasance until they change the quest. I'm NOT playing gambit at all.
I've also made peace with the fact I'll just never have PVP kill-exclusive catalysts because I am not breaking my back for that shit. I don't care how worth the time it is for other people; YOU can run the Witherhoard. I'll stick to my plebian PVE ways.

I'd actually throw Heir Apparent on this list. Sure, it doesn't seem like a godsend, now, but when you carry it into even high difficulty content, the shield will make a HUGE difference, especially against unmatched damage types. A build around this exotic can carry any guardian to flawless a master sector. I will admit, I straight suck at this game, but you wouldn't know that with Heir Apparent on. Bonus points for Titans with Actium War Rig on.
I know Striga got the poison "nerf" and I was curious how it stands with the most famous special ammo grenade launcher witherhoard they do the exact same dmg on direct hit. One shot of the hoard does about 109K dmg and striga poison plus the few shot needed does 109K dmg. Thanks for your wonderful video and CHEERS!
Is it weird that I use Izanagi's in PvP alot? I love the sights/feel and it gets the job done. Plus, I love the h8 mail I often get from the honed edge round.

Hmm, after checking collections, I am only missing 5 catalysts in total. However, I have only completed or inserted a handful. Gor some work to do, apparently.
I’ve done around 7mil+ damage in Warlor’s Ruin with malf+lucky pants+hothead - can confirm it’s a godlike caty
20% doesn't seem high for izanagi on face value, but the difference is huge because the 20% is added on top of the buffed 400% so instead of being 20% of the base 1 bullet, it's 20% of the mega honed edge bullet

Missed note, hoarded mobs take extra damage from Malfeasance. Taken hoarded mobs take even more.
I have all the weapons and cats listed, except for the Navigator. BTW, I played GotD, but didn't know it was a hidden objective. Completing that long-ass dungeon should just reward it to players without the bullsh!t requirement.
The cats actually do make a noticeable difference, and I was glad to see Bungie make dated kiosk exotics actually worth buying and using again. 🍻

Crimson just has a stat catalyst, I wish we got onslaught on it, think about it, it reloads on headshot kills, so onslaught will only be good if you can hit headshots on every *killing* blow. Makes it more of a gimmick but actually rewards good play

I used to perceive witherhoard as a means to an end for my wellock’s addiction to Starfire Protocol. I have since come to respect it as a good gun on its own even if I pick Izanagi over it for boss damage. I just feel like Izanagi, in the 4 seconds it takes to ready, Fire, and chamber a new honed edge round, that it does more dps there than witherhoard.
Before you say “but what about ad clear”. Ahem. Forbearance.

Granted that's heavy ammo, but there are ways. That's how I did mine. Can even pair with a special GL in your loadout for more chances at success.
i havent had a caralyst drop in half a year. Ist there a limit to unfinished catalysts before geting a new one to drop
Im still waiting for my graviton lance catty.. i started playing after lightfall and it was probably in the first 10 exotics that dropped.. i play daily and the catty refuses to drop. Do i need to be using it for it to drop or something 😂

ANOTHER PERK that’s hidden on Witherhoard is that any enemy you shoot that is not Taken will count as a Taken enemy for anyone in your fireteam using Malfeasance. Taken enemies take 25% extra damage from each shot of Malfeasance. Synergy, folks
Somehow, I have all of the Ornaments for Malfeasance from level up Engrams. But, I have never unlocked the gun itself.

By "Random drop after completing ritual activities" you really mean "Run 150 strikes without seeing any of the random catalysts drop" 🤦🏻😭

Trinity Goul needs to not require crit kills at base, so it's not ass when it drops
Make the catalyst apply jolt or give you gernade energy or something small. It's too much of a change from base to catalyst.
No weapon should need a catalyst to function. There's almost no reason to run base TG over another bow unless you're grinding for the cat. It's even outclassed by legendary bows with incandescent.
