    I almost crapped my pants when you started chiseling the corner of that arc. I would go the opposite direction! ;) But thanks for shearing, this was helpful. Very refreshing to just watch, w o any music or narration.

    Excellent build! I like the overall design and the dovetail construction, but the handles are too large and look out of place.

    • @TenonsTenors

      Yeah, as I mention in the video I used different pulls than originally planned. At the part where I drill the hole for the pulls, you can see the ones I was going to use. Unfortunately, I didn't think about how the wooden piece I attached to one door to hide the gap in the middle would interfere with the shape of the round pulls. Both doors had to be opened at the same time, which wasn't very practical. So, used the larger pulls to fix the problem. I agree with you, they don't look as good. That's what happens when you build without plans and lose concentration! Thanks for watching!

    Build looks great. Love your videos! I never saw this leveling box that you use before. Tried to google it, but nothing came up besides regular boxes.

    • @TenonsTenors
      @TenonsTenors  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! The leveling box, as I call it, is one of those tricks of the trade amongst hand tool users. Western bench planes have about a quarter of an inch of sole on the sides of the iron. Build your box so the sides of the sole run along the top and the iron cuts everything in between. Then adjust the height of the box to the thickness you desire. This will allow you to plane boards to the same thickness. You're only limited by the width of your plane iron. When making frame and panel furniture this is great since the rails and stiles are very rarely wider than your plane iron.

      @@TenonsTenors So do you have multiple ones fir different nights or is it adjustable? I have to check the video again later. Or, you have an opportunity to make another video about the jigs you are using. 😎

      @TenonsTenors  Před 3 lety

      @@benwarncke I have never built an adjustable version, out of laziness, really. I have three of various sizes that I built for different projects. I did see a video on YT of someone making an adjustable version. Sorry, though, can't remember exactly where.

      But in my humble opinion doors closes very tight. May be planing by finishing hand plane will fix the situation?

      ありがとうございます!キャスターが付いてて、動かす時にドアが勝手に開かないように少しタイトにしました。動かせない箪笥ならばもうちょっとスムーズに開け閉めができるようにした方がいいですね、確かに。

    I see you pounding the side into the bottom without glue? Did you later bang it apart for gluing? Do you find that the compass plane works better than a spokeshave?

    • @TenonsTenors
      @TenonsTenors  Před 3 lety

      I glued all the joints, some parts get left out during editing. In terms of removing material a spoke shave is just as good. I like the compass plane because it stops cutting as soon as you reach the radius you set it for, so it's easier to get a consistent arc. Thanks for watching!

    Not sure glass is suitable ....as it. Isn't toughened

    • @TenonsTenors
      @TenonsTenors  Před 3 lety

      The glass is plenty tough. As I mention in the video, I took it from a cabinet door, and I actually dropped one of the pieces on a hard wood floor from about 1 meter and it didn't crack or anything. I was quite impressed! Thanks for commenting again!
