    Its not going to blow anyone away, but I wish more manufacturers would concentrate on the lower end like this. The market needs more vehicles for commuting that an average working person can afford. Ones that are decent sized and decent looking.

      Yeah man, it’s crazy how little car manufacturers seem to care about producing cars working people can afford. I’m shocked GM is making a car like this, this is completely out of character for the way they have been behaving in the last decade

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum Před rokem +2

      I completely agree. It's frustrating that manufacturers have been focusing so heavily on expensive vehicles. Ford is especially bad right now. Their cheapest vehicle, that's not a pickup, starts at $28k. They don't even sell sedans or hatchbacks any longer, which undoubtedly would be sold for less. That's madness for a domestic, non-luxury brand.

    All of the complaints that I’m seeing about this car are so petty. It’s a $23k car in 2023. You’re getting a LOT of bang for you buck considering what the used car market is looking like rn. Most 2018 suvs with 50k+ kms cost more money than this. To be able to purchase a brand new suv right now for $23k is pretty insane. Not to mention it looks great. You get all the exterior feel of a $40k+ vehicle & then the interior isn’t anything insane for this trim specifically but it gets the job done while also having some touches of modern tech. Heated steering wheel, heated seats, driver focused touch screen. I think this is a job well done from GM.

    I find it silly when people say I only want this feature that is on the Trailblazer, then buy one. I think for the cost, this car has everything I need. I live in one of the snowiest states in the country and while AWD would be nice, I have never had it and get around just fine.

    I just traded in my 2018 AWD LT Trax for a 2024 1RS. My 2024 1RS has the blind spot monitoring. The 2024 smaller, 1 less cylinder engine is faster at lower rev. It seems like my 18 Trax would wind up to 5000 RPM and be at the same power/speed as the 2024 winding up to 3500 RPM. The 2024 has a nice rumble to it. The 2018 sounded good but my bro said it was sucking up all the rocks in the road. Meaning it sounded like a vacuum. I had no issue with the acceleration of the 2018 and the 2024 is faster so i am happy. I had AWD in my 2018 and i miss that but i am doing fine in the snow with the stock all season tires on the 2024. I had Falkin Wild Peak tires on my 2018 AWD Trax and it was a snow beast for sure! People and mechanics would report issues with the turbos on the 1.4L 2013 to 2022 failing but i had mine for about 23,000 miles and only had 1 issue with the car and it was the coil pack. I am hoping the 2024 1RS is as good of a car as the 2018 LT was.

Long trips winter driving and work. I did have jeep renegade it road horribly and had a bunch of problems from the back rattling to leaking oil of out a machining bolt they forgot to tighten down, I didn’t have my renegade for a few months last summer, weird thumping in the left front. It was only 2 years old with 18k miles on it. Only thing I’ll miss is the 4x4 but I used to drive fwd all the time in the snow so shouldn’t be a problem with winter tires.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the gas mileage would even improve a little or at least stay the same with a 4 cylinder option That doesn’t have to struggle and doesn’t require a balance shaft and counterweights to make it run smoothly.

With Camaro demise, it might be perfect time to hang on to some of their buyers that might have been considering a lower spec Camaros. IF chevy produces enough of these, they offer a ton in the $22-25K range and it has far more road presence than previous generation or the compact crossover competitors. An SS model $28-30K would be quite tempting.

    How would you compare this to the Crosstrek? Considering a used Subaru (Impreza, Forester or Crosstrek) vs a new Trax for the same price.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Před rokem +1

      I honestly think that this Trax could be a really good vehicle. I’ve seen good reliability in the 1.4T engine that was like the predecessor to GM economy cars from the last generation. But I honestly would have to go with the Subaru, assuming it’s the current generation, just a few years old, but still under warranty. I think they’re more safe, more capable, and a very good overall proven/thought out platform. But that’s just my opinion/bias. Best of luck in whatever you decide! 🙂
