The guy was not a religious leader. Read up. He was a socialist turned pyschopath. Who saw jonestown as a socialist utopia. He mixed in religion, racism, poverty ect in order to gain the trust of his followers.
He may not have been a sincere religious leader, but he definitely would have been seen as a religious leader in the first half of his career.

Maria Katsaris can be heard in multiple recordings supporting everything Jim is saying and even berating other members along with Jim, she can be heard clearly in "the death tape" telling the children to keep calm as they're being poisoned and she even helped mix the cyanide koolade mix
Wesley Breidenbach was always up with Jones in the community meetings in the pavilion and acted as a sort of general, and assumed a role of assistant to Jones.

You can tell that Jim Jones is behind her coaching her on what to say you hear him whispering in the background don't forget to say this and that she was just a young girl caught up in the wrong situation say the very least!
And I'm sure that the people who are accusing their relatives of sexual abuse, drug addiction, etc, were told what to say.
There is evidence that the CIA and the Green Berets were involved in the killing at Jonestown. The people at Jonestown or at least this particular woman was aware that something was brewing in the terms of an infiltration and a mass killing.

Looking back on it, it's hilarious that these people that were in Jonestown actually think that anybody really gave a shit what they were doing down there. They were a group of nobody's that weren't doing anything of significance. They were in the middle of a jungle in the middle of nowhere South America. It wasn't like they were posing a real threat to anybody. It's not like the American government and military were afraid of them doing anything. All of this was a bunch of meaningless nonsense.

Yeah, they were living in a fantasy world, far removed from reality. Until the massacre took place, nobody knew about or cared about what these people were doing.
That must be why the U.S. and other governments monitored them and while top Democratic Politicians in California feted Jones, because they were ‘powerless nobodies who didn’t matter.’
Sounds like she believes eyes of the world on them, but I lived in Atlanta, Georgia and kept up with National and World Affairs and the first I ever heard of Peoples Temple was the Report of Leo Ryan’s death.
