Army soldier Vanessa Guillen vanishes from Fort Hood
The family of the 20-year-old Houston native said she didn’t like being stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. On April 22, Guillen stopped answering calls and text messages.

I read an article earlier this month that the Fort Hood commander lost his post and was denied transfer after incidents at the [Fort Hood] Army base. More needs to be done! Vanessa and all the other soldiers and their families need justice!!!

It went internationally and the family went to the White House. 20/20 got it. A bill is introduced in her name. No offense, but how much more is there? (Media wise as you said it needed more attention). I’ve followed it from day 1 when the initial flyer went out of her missing. I’m impressed all the attention it got with military usually shutting the stories down.

He was a Sgt. and reported abusive sexual contact from his base and then went missing for about a week shortly after reporting then was found dead hanging from a tree but the story is so sketch.
It’s heartbreaking these soldiers lay their lives down to protect us and this is how they’re being treated with little to no support from the actual army 💔

Fort Hood has had a lot of issues with soldiers going missing and being killed. I remember reading an article about 30 “suicides” happening in a span of one week. I think those soldiers were killed.

This is so sad! How the hell does this happened on an American military base? Thank God Vanessa was close with her family and had a family that was determined to find her. They did not let the military bury her by saying she is AWOL. They also help another family found their dead family member who the army stated was awol.

This really hit home for me. My family and I are also from Rio Grande, Zacatecas and I have a cousin in the military. Knowing that this happened in a military base and no one cared enough to search. I had heard about her before and I also saw the documentary last night. It was well done but I also realize how corrupt is the military, that shouldn't been happening. Everyone should be safe in the military, I just don't understand how many people had died, had been rape, sexually assaulted and everything else that goes in there. It's really embarrassing and disgrace that things like that happen there at the military base.
it is sad and awful, but the base isn't in a bubble and non-military come and go on the base too. That happens everywhere and should always be looked into until solved, it's also sad how family have to stay on it to keep the law on the case. It being an active case is highly important. God bless the family and rest her lovely soul!

What pisses me off about Vanessa's story is that the family had been wanting the media to cover this story since April...why didn't the media cover it? Bc they were more focused on the Covid-19 and George Floyd. It wasn't until AFTER the media covered George Floyd's funeral (June) that Vanessa's story was news worthy.
