I wished I could see what you're doing as you do it. Thanks, God bless you!
Sorry about that! I am always trying to improve and this was fairly early on in my youtube channel. Not saying I don't still make mistakes and loose my footage sometimes though! 😆
I use the whole plant root and all, heat the Olive oil first on double boiler let plant steep for weeks in oil, later I melt the wax with essential oil mix then all ingredients over slow boil.
ohh, I love that idea! 🤗I thought about making a dandelion tea with the roots and using that in a soap, along with the dandelion infused olive oil. Maybe next year I can do something like that or like what you do. This year I missed the dandelion season 🙁
How’d you make it solid? Beautiful job. !
Hi Mamma Joy! I'm so sorry my video cut out and you missed some of the making - I would say that it was because I was still new at the time of making this video, but let's be honest - I still make those video mistakes! 😅 - the ingredients alone set up to a beautiful balm - so there wasn't anything I did to make is solid, it just cools that way. Hope that helps!! 🥰
So I do have a question I’ve seen a few videos of how to make dandelion oils , but I’m wondering 💭 if first u have to soak them in water or it’s not needed ??
I don't soak in water, I feel like that would make the oil go rancid sooo much quicker. I have actually never seen it done before and don't see what purpose it would have. Maybe to get rid of the critters??? but drying them out does that for me. - good luck!
Thx for your lovely recipe Tammy..just a quick question for you I'm finding it difficult to source pumpkin seed oil is there an alternative you would use ?
Really I think any good oil would work. I have made this with just the infused olive oil and it was great. I just love the pumpkin seed oil and throw it in wherever I can LOL
You can use any carrier oil!
@@cynthiaslater7062 yes, that is completely customizable! I would direct you to New Directions website - they do a really nice job of stating how absorbing an oil and butter are. here is a link to the almond oil on their site... www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/products/carrier-oils/almond-sweet-refined-carrier-oil-spain.html
are they dried before this or just fresh picked ready to use for salve ??
Hi Cheryl, I picked them and let them dry out before putting in my olive oil. I have seen it done with fresh dandelions (packed in olive oil) but I don't trust all the water content that is in fresh flowers not to make my oil rancid fast. Thanks for watching!😁
What essential oils did you put in?
If I remember correctly I just used Lavender in this - thanks for watching!
When you make the dandelion infused oil for using in soap here is an idea for you. Along with using your oil, try adding the dandelion fuzz with seeds to your lye water. I make lye water day before and add the fuzz and let it set over night. You can either strain it out when adding to oils or hit it with stick blender to chop it up. I leave it for appearance. For a 10 inch silicone mold, I pick the fuzz off of 40 fuzz heads. This makes the most silky creamy soap that you will try. The fuzz makes this soap lather up like crazy. Make this soap and I think you will be impressed
Can I just say that this is PERFECT timing!!! I am infusing dandelions now for soap, and I was going to make some dandelion tea - now I am going to add the fuzzies!! Thanks for such a great suggestion! I never, ever would have thought to do that! 💕💕💕
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I'd be interested to know what you think of that. Just a side note, when you add the fuzz with seeds, it'll turn lye water yellow with a tint of brown. I make my dandelion soap a light yellow. I think you'll like it, it is so silky and creamy. The lather is thick with a million tiny bubbles.
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique you can also use corn silk. I use sweet corn silk. I cut the exposed brown ends off, then I dehydrate the silk b4 using it. I probly add maybe ¼ cup cut up silk. I just use scissors to cut it into small bits. Lye water made the day b4.like dandelion soap. I do this for 10" latex mold
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique Silicone mold.
Let me clarify the corn silk. Cut brown ends off and dicard. Use the silk inside the husk
Do you wash the dandelions off first at all before letting them dry
Nope, I don't want to add more water than they already have in them. I just make sure they are as clean as I can before picking (no sprays or dogs roaming) 😂
How many drops is 1 gram?
sorry, I only measure by weight so can not help you with that one. Maybe Google can help??
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I DID, it said 20 drops of one oil was 1 gram, but that it was highly inaccurate...I guess it depends on the carrier oil, and weight of the added mineral substance, so wondered if YOU knew how much your way was 1 gram
You don't like to use fresh pedels?
Hi Jennifer! This is timely as I have been eyeing all the dandelions popping up in the fields LOL - I don't like to use fresh as I feel they have too much water in the petals. They are pretty in the jar LOL but I think that would make the oil go rancid much more quickly. I don't think I have ever read to dry them out first but it is something I have always done.
I was gonna ask the same thing because I used fresh for mine. I'm a beginner though so I may be doing it wrong. I'll see what it's like today because it's been a week.
