    I think that you were able to draw the plasma arc out further because you ionized the air around it. When the ionized gas would be more conductive and allow the arc to grow bigger. It also explains the change in color because the electrons of the air are releasing photons of light because they are trying to reach their ground state from being in an elevated electron shell.

    and you saw a zaps of electricity when you put the metal near it because the electricity could jump that distance, and the ball imploded because it was under vacuum

    • @T3hub3r1337
      @T3hub3r1337 Před 7 lety +8

      Wrong, as you exhale, the given gas will change the internal acoustics of the instrument, we did this with helium and trombones in music class once, really curious how a tuba would sound under some SF6.
      Keep in mind, sound waves change tone based on the medium they travel through. Fill an instrument with any amount of a gas and it will change somewhat just because the sound waves have to travel through a mostly contained system.
      Flute and clarinet would vent faster than most brass instruments, as there are a number of open holes along the entire body of them, as opposed to a closed tube type system in trumpets, tubas, etc.

      I don't think so, from my (limited) understanding, the arcs are negatively charged, and react with the positively charged ions of whatever inert gas is in the globe to make the arcs. When you put your finger on the ball, the arc is attracted to it because your body is a path to ground. All electricity wants a path to ground. So, if you had two of them, I think that they would probably repel the beams from each other if anything.
