LYRICS
I let go of the world that was holding
a passenger that could not fly
in search of souls
in search of something
let it go
and let it slide
Oh yeah [x5]
Oh yeah [x5]
when I find out what went on
I’ll bring it back
but it won't be easy
they won't believe how a man
he could drown
in starseed, starseed
I hoped to find why this world wasn't glowing
it darkens as we end this ride
I’ve fallen back under the equator
back inside, we’re back inside
Oh yeah [x5]
[I’m sorry]
Oh yeah [x5]
when I find out what went on
I’ll bring it back, but it won't be easy
they won't believe how a man he could drown
in starseed, starseed
[guitar riff]
It’s all nothing, nothing
but I found out what went on
I’ll bring it back, but it won't be easy
they won't believe the man he could -
But I’d choose starseed over
Nothing, nothing
It’s all nothing, nothing
but I found out what went on
I’ll bring it back, but it won't be easy
they won't believe the man he could -
But I’d choose starseed over
Nothing, nothing, nothing
Starseed over

Great song!!

@@huntercox5000 Starseed is now considered an all time classic. Sometimes you just throw shit out there and it sticks!! That 5 minutes of writing turned out to be Master Bass line leading into Musical 🎶 History boys!

This is the most underrated band of all times.
Their first four albuns are just pure gold.
Underrated? They had big success here in Canada, as well as the States. Not a lot of bands succeed in the States.... Not good ones anyways.
crallow Yeah man, I see. But in my point of view they should be known all over the world. They're just too amazing to have this success only in their motherland. I'd love to see them playing here in Brazil, but for example, none of my friends have ever heard of them...
I know what you mean Pedro. As a Canadian, I agree with you. They are underrated and the world is missing out on some classic 1990's music.
the ladies were smokin hot
I'm American and this is the first time listening to this song. Canadian musicians rock. The Hip is my favorite! I wave everyday to my Canadian neighbors on Vancouver Island .Peace and love from Port Angeles, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula.🙏❤️🇺🇲🇨🇦
Have you listened to other things by this band? They have so many good ones!
This is one of the best rock songs of all time.
This band was just solid. So many great songs, this one is an anthem.
Agreed
ikr
im 62 ..love these guys !!
Same!
To anyone playing this song, it's such a hidden gem kudos to you.
This is a song that you crank up while driving and sing along at the very top of your lungs.
i heard first in my car..so darn good .
I tried, the lyrics and the melody are confusing as hell. Amazing song just impossible to follow.
LOVE this song! Timeless Canadian Rock:)
Legend rock🤘
This is so amazing and fantastic Lord may you be blessed
Yeah, it's aboot time something other than Celine Dion and Brian Adams came from there, eh?
Of course...the rest of the world just calls it Rock 🤔🤨😂🤣
Rush and many other great bands.
How did I completely miss this band? Raising a family, I guess. The guitar is very reminiscent of The Cult. Now I need to do a deep dive. Thank to to Spotify for bringing this song into my life.
That's what I said ..they sound like the Cult and love this song...❤
I agree.. This does have some resemblance to Billy Duffy but not on the level of Ian Astbury vocally Ian is a legend@@SpiritualGangsta1
I am so glad I lived my 20's in my 60's and now my teens in my 70's, stungirls rule and paint to pass...see ya on the road kiddies....dirty side down...
"Starseed was written in five minutes. Chris came up with the bass line and the vibe was so heavy we just wrote it." It only took the band twenty more minutes to record the song" ------ Wow, truly amazing!!!! Yes.
LOL how ironic that nobody has come up with stuff like this again for the better part of 2 decades
It sounds like it was written in 4 minutes

I'm another Yank who spent the 90s listening to Canadian Rock Radio from Vancouver. I Love 90s Canadian Alt Rock like Our Lady Peace, The Tragically Hip, Econoline Crush, Tea Party... Oh, man!
Chris Jay Becker Don't forget Moist
such a great band moist. So good live, great times
Um I Mother Earth FTW.
Same! I abandoned the Seattle sound to find something I love. I've tried to turn my friends on to stuff like this - always dismissed as inferior because it's Canadian. Fine; I'll keep it all for myself.
Hi from Canada ...yes we have a lot of great music here ...☺
As a 44 year old starseed I never even heard that word till I started awakening - but I remember this!!
Dang. You seem so enlightened. Can you share any wisdom?

@@tanyaireson4693 It's kind of amazing how this song, though it rocks hard, it has such depth to it. Are you starseed too?
Kind of sounds like if The Cult and Collective Soul had a love child....really great.
I'm from New Hampshire. Got MuchMusic on satellite. So thankful it introduced me to great bands like Our Lady Peace, Moist, Amanda Marshall, I Mother Earth, Sarah McLachlan., Barenaked Ladies, and so many others. Very grateful.
This is the only definition of Starseed that matters. If anyone says otherwise, they are mistaken at best.
Right on
Correct!
thumbs up to the recording engineer for such a boss drum mix. that snare drum is killing.
Exactly what I was thinking man. Sounds so full, but cuts through at the same time. Very natural sounding snare
Arnold Lanni. Talented man.
Isn't this how the snare sounds with the snare disengaged?
thats St Anger snare!!lol
Back when they would track to tape.
Their drummer really kicks ass ! There first album was great. Hard to believe it is getting close to 20 years since it came out.
Can you believe it's been 28 years now?

The drums kick ass, I agree! He is beaten those things...
One of the most, if not the most Kick-ass alternative rock song in the history of man! And those drums.....goodness!
I'll never forget seeing them live at MolsonPark Barrie mid 90's. They closed out the show just before the T Hip came on who were amazing too. I was up front in the mosh pit about 20 yrs old, in amazing shape to survive 6hrs in a mosh pit. Great memory. The music was adrenaline that pump us up flowing through our veins was so exciting. We were screaming out the lyrics at the top of our lungs while smashing into one another. Imagine us all, same crowd doing that in our golden years...lol...
As a musician for over two decades I was just blown away at how tight they were in the pocket that night, on 🔥💯🔥 Jeremy on the drums to see him up close live had us all pumped!!
This is just such a GREAT aggressive drum track.
Was it edgefest?
1990’s Canadian rock was such a great era. Lots of great bands and songs came out of this decade.
The first song of theirs I ever heard. I remember recording it on a cassette tape after waiting around the radio for it to play.
Mark Bennett lol I remember those days! It's so much easier to find a song nowadays
Roger Adams Ironically you can find any crap music that is out today the first time you hear it. Back in the day we had to be slaves to radio if we wanted it. We were spoiled but these kids today are spoiled rotten
i remember recording music videos on TV back in 2007
Lol those were the days!
The 1990s the last best era
This song is one of the best rock grooves ever
That's true! See comment above! Jeremy said yes I'm here!
One of the most underated bands of the 90's, and still one of my favourites 25 years on
Naveed is a masterpiece, the whole album is excellent..
+Anna Fitzpatrick agreed
+Anna Fitzpatrick You have other interests than trolling on political videos?! :-O
I agree. Just put the whole thing in repeat
Agreed it's their best for sure
One of the best albums released that year. Not a bad track anywhere on it.
this is one of the good Canadian rock n' roll back in the mid 90s together with I Mother Earth's One more Astronaut. I miss the Muchmusic days
much now is trash
Let's not forget April Wine. An excellent Canadian band. My very first concert was their Nature of the Beast tour. And the song "I like to Rock" absolutely epitomizes the 70's and 80's Rock n Roll.
I first heard this song on national lampoon's senior trip as a young teen in the 90s. I couldn't find it then but remembered to find it today and I've listened to it about 10 times so far.
Dude that movie is free on CZcams right now. Search it in the free movies. Great movie brings me back too 🤙

You nailed it man. That’s exactly what I do with this song and many others. Movies and shows are good for that as well.
One of the first rock sounds I ever enjoyed. The year is 1997.im 17.the country is Trinidad W.I.this song is in a compilation I buy on a cassette of alternative music and it's just awesome.this Canadian band...now I'm 40.23 years later and it still hasn't gotten old...Wow!
I once spotted Our Lady Peace in the Black Hole Sun Mountains outside of Seattle - the tour guide on the bus said it was a rare sighting!
HaHa, I see what you did!
There will never be another decade of music like the 90's
One of the best 90s jams...
I moved to New York from Derry, Ireland in '95 at the age of 18. This was doing the rounds on the radio at the time. I immediately felt as though I'd arrived to where I was always destined to be.
Star seed.... thank goodness my kids hearing turned out alright but they were raised on this music from the cradle. in 2000 one started banging on drums at 4 and then picked up guitar and piano. the other one right behind when he was 2 started drumming behind his brother. Both play guitars piano and drums still and made a life of going to every concert with mom and staying in tune with their music brains.. You have to acknowledge your influences. This band was one even though this song was released years earlier. My kids were raised on my music ..and still love the late 90s influences to this day. They complain there is no good music anymore and no real singers and musicians. sometimes its true.
.Life is nothing without music. Peace Out!! i am just looking back at the days my kids were in rocking baby seats rocking to this song and Janes Addiction
cant wait to see OLP, Soul Asylum, Live and STP for their 30th anniv album tour in Toronto this summer. will be so cool!
Great music. Reminds me of being 20. Growing up in Ontario The big news each spring would be who would be playing edgefest and other fests/tours that summer at Molson park Barrie... all gone now. The place I watched so many great bands(OLP, I mother earth, the tea party, the headstones, THE HIP) to name a few has become a shopping mall!!!!!. Sucks I can never bring my kids there to experience it. Also sad that OLP became a fake hollywood band after 2 awesome first albums. They lost their teeth when Raine moved to LA. Doubt he could find his way to Canada now! R.I.P 20's. I miss you, and the REAL music that came with you.
if you are tired and theres no stimulants to swallow this will work just as well if not better
I personally use both at the same time. Great speedin' music.
90s was the best music. Had to give my head a shake when I realized my favorite genre was the grunge period. Those days are missed.
Haha, resonates.
We’ll bring it back but it won’t be easy. Awesome lyrics
Hands down one of OLP's best.
You bring me back to college. Thank you❤
A piece of history. Can't believe how hard it still rides!!! Amazing.
I really like Mike Turner’s guitar playing. IMO OLP was never the same after his departure.
let me tell you my story an old friend of mine"s brother went to high school with mike turner
Drumming on this track is outstanding!
Yeah, yeah, yeah... The quasi Bossa Nova feel really fits the overall vibe of the song as a whole.. Good call..

I still remember seeing Our Lady Peace opening up for Fishbone, in Regina, at the old Channel One club, promoting their first album. That was the very first time that I found the opening band absolutely destroyed the band they were opening for.

Great memories associated with this song - I had just moved to Toronto from the states in '94, and managed to get an invite to see them perform at a club I think was called Phoenix. I see a really cute girl in the audience, and somehow managed to work up the courage to talk to her. What do you do? Her: "Actually, I'm in their video." I met Tanya, the very cute girl in this video. Great girl that I stayed friends with for a few years, but unfortunately never got to date. Lost touch with her a while ago, but last I heard, she was in Vancouver.
That song STILL KILLS!!!
I miss good music like this!!

+jason joseph Just think of them as hidden gems
+jason joseph Absolutely.
+jason joseph They were pretty big in the 2000's. Had quite a few radio hits in the U.S. I actually got to see them live again a few months ago in Florida.
Not sure 'bout that even the Tragically Hip did not make it big in the States and they were one of our best bands. Maybe some cultural differences then when a performer is successful there people forget they are Canadian like now with The Weeknd.
This video is brilliantly shot. I love how you see different angles of thw drummer who is in front unlike most videos where the drummer is in the back. The different angles on the focussed drum is what makes this video brilliant.
These guys are one of my all time favorites! Anyone here during the pandemic? 9/28/20 cheers from Pennsylvania!
