This cd in the player, twisted metal in the PlayStation and a bottle of Mountain Dew. Little did we know it would never get any better.
Well said. You took the words out of my mouth
dude thats kinda depressing come to Dallas we'll show you a good time. mountain dew aint gonna cut it though
Gosh I miss twisted metal!!!
We need a twisted metal reboot.
@@mikeyjames6808 dude thanks I would love to take you up on that sometime! Got family in Texas (Huffman?) But never made it down there!
It's not just nostalgia.. The 90s were really a purer, more heart-driven era full of feeling.
So true
Was an 80s myself happier 90s more depressed but great song
Kevin G lol maybe.. its not just rose tinted glasses though..
Absofuckinlutely
You must have never heard underground music if you think this is true. You cant judge music by hollywood and mtv.

59 year old female Nurse, just got off work, jamming tonight to 90's music. this is one of my favs. it's 1/31/24 ! 11:53 pm -- keep kickin' it 😁
meeeeeeee
Just finished DJing at the local bar a couple hours ago, had too much to drink, and now I'm reminiscing the good old days of being young and dumb and enjoying every second of it. This song saved me during covid. :)
All that shimmers in the world is sure to fade away. One of the truest statements ever.
Sad but true
I want to go back to the 90’s. 😢
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade is a good line but they forgot about the thing that does not...The Soul.

Exactly, don't believe in antichrist when he says peace with His nueralink device, repent to God who offers true peace having overcome the curse of sin and death.
My best friend of 30 years passed away September 20th at 5:30pm from cancer. It’s been 2 days of constant mourning but today I started listening to his favorite songs and remember how much he loved this song. I dunno. Love that guy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you can find comfort in this rockin' song!
Sorry for your loss mate, sure he is looking after you now.
May your friend rest in peace....
I feel you my mom passed from cancer as well on October 22 . Sucks but hang in there my friend your not alone
Sorry man, amazing that your honoring/connecting with him still. Stay strong.
I consider "Fuel" one of the most underrated rock bands in history.
They definitely deserved a lot more recognition than they have to date.
"Shimmer", for example, is without a doubt one of the best songs of the entire post-grunge era.
Você é Brasileiro? Kkkkk
The funny thing is that Hemorrhage (in my hands) was actually their peak. That is crazy, because they had so much good music over the years. "Shimmer" will always be my favorite though. It has such a great sound, plus I connect with the story. Damn Fuel was good.
@@Danielson1818 i prefer "Nothing"
@@Danielson1818 I like their Porcelain EP, I wanted to find a copy of this EP for sale on CD, but I don't think it exists anymore
@@amaralxk Damn. That must be rare, because I've never heard of it. Does that one still have Brett as singer?
I’m 42 and my Fuel CD has been scratched for years.. yet I will never part 🤘🏼
I bought a few copies from various thrift shops.
Same. 58 years young
Fuel? Filter? Still too far away, 71 never gets old
Try a slightly abrasive toothpaste. Rub in circles from middle to the edges. Rinse well. Dry with a microfiber cloth. If that doesn't totally work run a light film of Vaseline on it. Then burn a copy immediately. I've done it it works. 😊😊 Good luck🍀🍀
The last song my brother sent me before he passed away of a heart attack Tuesday morning. I’ll cherish this band forever. Rest in peace brotha
Hey I'm sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself
That is so sad! RIP
Man... I'm profoundly sorry for your loss... praying for you to find peace and comfort in this time of sudden loss. You have someone on the inside now, lookin out for ya. ✌️🤟
RIP man, hope you feel better man. I lost someone close to me in March of 2022 and I still can't think about it without getting upset. I don't think you will ever be over it, and that's a good thing.
😢So very sorry for your loss. Praying you find peace in your memories of him. 🙏🙏❤❤
this entire album is A+. Fuel was VERY underrated IMO.
Still listening to it in 2022
Hell yes I am
my dad always listened to fuel when i was a kid so ive always been a fan since I was like 7
U could go see them at welcome to Rockville in Daytona beach may 19th
Same
Seeing them tonight at a free concert! Super stoked!
Nobody could explain the 90s vibe, but we all agree that the music was different, pure and real...
Home….. The 90’s feels like home.
if you were not there, of course you cannot explain the vibe. i was & i can & i am a nobody nowhere with nothing to loose. lol
It’s feels so nice to find people that understand this very sentiment. What a great time it was. I’m 40. So this was my time.
Probably. But the reason why I feel the 90’s were special was because it was the last decade before technology and social media ruined so much shit. It was the last time where people actually hung out with each other. Not fucking glued to their god damn phone all the time. It was the last decade where parks were filled with people playing basketball. Kids riding around in their bikes. And so much more. That simply doesn’t exist anymore. That’s why the 90’s are so special.
Hell ya franky jas. $5 bill get u a pack Marlboros and 20oz mountain dew after school. 16 years old. And get change back. Lol. Cruising Main Street with radio cranked up in our old shitbox feeling on top of the world
Adulting sucks, enjoy being a kid while you still can. I'm only 36 and sick of it wish I could go back to these days.
I agree with you.

One of the hardest lessons in life
I listen everyday
Zzzzzz .....
When this came out, I was recently divorced with a 10 month old son, but I was in my second childhood somehow. anyways, this was a good one!!!
This song was played so freaking much when it was first out but it never once got old.
This is not a song.
Its a poem.
💯
A girl I had a crush on in highschool printed out the lyrics to this song on a piece of paper and gave it to me as sort of a "we'll never be together, but we almost were" message
that's what a song is a poem set to music
we know, bro, we know
correction it's a bro'em
@imageword5576 reminds me of my ex. We were an almost but an almost isn't "it" 😢

The more I listen to songs like this, the more I think that the 90's was the last great era.
definitely creatively
It was ! I lived it born in 85 and man the music was good we had classic rock , plus this new stuff coming out and a lot good pop alt stuff plus the Seattle sound and Tupac and biggie and Wu tang plus the older rap sir mix alot etc.. like you said the last great musical generation 😢 untill the boy bands came 2000’s killed the radio
Early 2k songs was the last great era for music for me.

Group hug from yall people from the comment section. This song hits us hard. Oh life.
Hug u back❤
HUGSSSSS
I have heard this song on the radio and on my dad's playlist but never knew the name. Today in my english class my teacher gives us a poem to analyse. The poem was called shimmer. We identified all of the literary devices and what the poem does well. Then he put the song on and I was mind blown.
Your teacher is a badass.
That's cool
That’s awesome! Can you tell me some of those literary devices? Example?
Yeah if u u think about it……every song that has existed….its just a poem that has music playing. Its crazy to know if it’s just a poem or is it a song
This song is a masterpiece in terms of songwriting. The way it progresses slowly and then boom, in comes the distortion and drums, while pre chorus and chorus go back in forth in different directions. It’s like 2 separate songs combined into one. Love it. Extremely underrated song.
True have this song on loop right now 👍
Love your comment! 90s kid here, I love Fuel!!!
I agree. The structure of the song is way different than from the norm, love it
Agree, so polished and well done all the way around

1998 was the pinnacle of '90s alternative rock. Shimmer was the chief hit that year
Finally found this (again). Didnt know "in my hands" FUEL sings this. Too far away is not the title , it's Shimmer. I found this by finally remembering intro words then googling them. I miss the 90's too. So much. Cheers to a simpler time xoxo
Yea but we got mumble rap and dubstep now. Would you really want to go back to a time without mumble rap and dubstep?
There was so much of it and mainstream. Was nuts
Music is just so generic now. Its not that its bad necessarily, its just that its not good either. Its just whatever.
THey do. You just have to know where to look.

It absolutely brings back memories.....memories to when I was divorced, and I had a 2 year old baby boy with my ex wife. To cut the story short, we got back together and after about 2 years of seperation, the 2 year old is now 26, he finished college about a year ago, and now he live in Jacksonville. Life worked out ok.

The 90s were so terribly magical. Everyone was feeling everything and nothing as the world changed around them. This was definitely an anthem for me. Like an audial time machine.
Beautiful, you seriously said it! Wish we could go back to those days

She calls me from the cold
Just when I was low, feeling short of stable
And all that she intends
And all she keeps inside, isn't on the label
She says she's ashamed
And can she take me for awhile?
Can I be a friend, we'll forget the past
Maybe I'm not able
And I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again
She dreams a champagne dream
Strawberry surprise, pink linen and white paper
Lavender and cream
Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her
She says that love is for fools who fall behind
And I'm somewhere in between
I never really know
A killer from a savior
'Til I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again
It's too far away for me to hold
It's too far away
It's too far away for me to hold

It's too far away for me to hold
It's too far away
It's too far away for me to hold

One of the best lines in music "She says that love is for fools that fall behind" So true
This was a hard song to find back in the day, what with Staind having a song called "So Far Away" and Three Doors Down all over the radio with "Be Like That", whose bridge sounds like the chorus to this song but on morphine. Just the 90s. Early 2000s was when the BS started creeping in.
I won't lie, this is one of the few songs I cry to. I remember clicking with this one instantly the first time I heard it. Something about this song reminds me of hard times and makes me grateful I had music like this to connect with and get me through. Sometimes life is hard and love is really painful. That's what makes it life, and I'm glad music is there to pick me up in those hard times. To Fuel, thanks for this gem-- your work does not go unappreciated.

Class of 1998. Soundtrack of our youth. Loved these guys.
I'm 39 and this is a night time soundtrack from childhood!
This song holds a lot of heartfelt memories for me. Described my emotional life back in my late teens/early 20s. Reconnecting with this song brings all of those feelings flooding back, but now in my late 30s, I appreciate the beauty of this song and how it allowed me to see internally on so many occasions. Music is emotion. Music is beauty.
Isn't it crazy how one song holds a thousand memories
"too far away for me too hold too far away"

My Mom and Dad used to sing this to me when they were pregnant with me. I remember from a young age always loving this song. I still to this day get chills from this song when I hear it. Now I’ve grown, and finally understand how minuscule my wants were as a child, and how as an adult now I’m struggling to keep up with the bare necessities still pining for a life not driven by how much money you have. The bridge is no longer a song for my parents to sing to me as a baby, it’s now grown to be my cry for validation from all the death and heartache.
