The best goals of that World Cup would be the goals that Pelé almost scored.His midfield shot against Czechoslovakia,his dribble over the Uruguay's goalkeeper and his header against Gordon.
Pelé's vision and awareness was truly spectacular and second to none. Despite being the greatest player as an individual, he's always there for the team.

I like how most of these goals are examples of great passing and high quality dribbling technique. These days top ten goals and goal of the season compilations are way too often just filled with a bunch of hits from 30 yards out. A long-range goal is definitely a thing of beauty but they all tend to look similar after a while and I wish the great pass and move goals continued to reign supreme.
The game changed for the worse sadly, today footballers are marathon runners. They don't develop the vision or awareness that the older, slower players had.

Carlos Alberto was full of confidence with his goal there, bcos if he didn't score, it was messing up the outstanding play leading up to the eventual(I thought that was a word 🤔, still using it though ☺) goal.
They could probably have passed that into the back of the net or maybe just went back and skinned every opposing player again for a laugh 😂.
Anyway my point is he struck that with conviction, knowing he wasn't missing which made it all the better.

No disputing the number 1 ; a perfect goal to end a perfect tournament. Jairzinho's winning goal v England was near identical to Pele's v Czech's (and England's kit was similar to the Czech's) to the point I wondered why Jair was wearing the number 10 shirt !! Had to double back.
