In this episode of Dubspot's Wireless interview series, Brian Williams a.k.a. Lustmord sits down with composer, producer and educator Raz Mesinai f.k.a. Badawi for a brief interview that touches on experimental and extreme creative processes in electronic music, sound design and composition techniques, live performances, visual composition, and more.
Brian Williams (better known as Lustmord) is an accomplished British electronic musician, composer, sound designer, and visual artist. He started his recording career in the early 1980s when he joined the legendary industrial and noise band SPK. Williams is regarded as one of the key innovators of the industrial genre and a pioneer of the subgenre commonly known as 'dark ambient'. A large body of his work remains defiantly experimental. As Lustmord, Williams has remixed and collaborated with bands such as Tool, Coil, The Melvins, and Isis. He's also worked in sound design for film and television, lending his technical expertise to movies like The Crow, Underworld, Tank Girl, Spawn, and even a Nike Sports basketball commercial. - Hudba
Even though he doesn't restrict his work to the genre, he is the father of dark ambient! \m/
Your picture is cool
Look. It's scary for someone to be with their eyes uncovered while talking to Lustmord. He can see into your soul! Joking, maybe a bad one - but nice interview other than the glasses.
Thanks alot for this interview long waited one
When you talk to people, remove the sunglasses!!!
Thanks for this interview
It is disrespectful to wear sunglasses in front of a guest and an audience. Unless you have a special eye condition. He tries to look cool but wearing sunglasses indoors makes him ridiculous and tasteless.
If wearing sunglasses inside annoys pathetic wankers, it's worth doing it. Whiny fashion police deserves no respect.
I don't think Lustmord cares
The only people who get a pass on sunglasses inside during the day is if you’re strung out on both cocaine and pills.
I enjoyed the interview, seeing this guy reminded me of how groups like Einsturzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle created sounds by sampling scrap yards and power tools at work (hence Industrial), never did find out what the "Brown note" was though (I guess I'll never know :p).
can you put the link ? pls~
What i would like to know is how he came up with the name Lustmord as it's swedish for lust murder.
When i first discovered him i thought it was a swedish artist or project.
thx!!!
Mr. Artist !
The interviewer looks like the kind of guy who would leave his guide dog outside in the rain.
Lustmord and Bohren are the best
If your anvil sounds like in the "real" examples given you have really messed up in heating the metal properly. If the metal is at the right temperature the sound of the hammer striking it is more like a "thock" with no bell like ring at all.
Wearing sunglasses gives you the persona of a professional interviewer. Maybe you (the interviewer) would say "duh".
awkward ending handshake
Interviewer needs to stop trying to be cool and focus more on personality. Looking cool and trying to act cool is nothing if your not cool like the man himself... Lustmord.
I found GOD !
I think he's more of a "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
Interviewing someone with sunglasses on? Rude.
The guy with the sunglasses thinks he is being cool or something. Just plain rude. Get a life, grow up and be a decent person. And if its a medical condition then be polite and let the folks know you have a problem...how sad.
