the Dubspot channel is possibly the most useful internet resource for electronic music making ever made. Always well done.
"Yes we can"
-Ableton Instructor Thavius Beck
The next Ableton Push makes QuNeo looks like something that comes with a magazine as a gift xD
Great information presented clearly and well organized. I would love to take a class.
haha hes saying 'okay' like mr macky from south park just like 'mkay'
Well done, Mr. Beck. Thanx, Dubspot!
Learned a ton just from this 15 minute video! Thanks DubSpot~
If you close your eyes, it's like Obama is teaching you about midi controllers
I'm glad you thought that it was worth commenting on such a moronic comment from seven months ago. You have great priorities.
Cheers
what!? he's an incredible producer!!
Great demo, just what I needed!
Great Watch! Thavius is one smart dude!
Big Up Thavius and other controllerists!
this blew my mind thank you
Great tutorial Thavius, you should do more of these.
That was sick! Really useful tips 'n tricks
Thavius is a fantastic teacher !
Great instructional video, awesome instructor!
Thank you!
Great tutorial! Getting ideas already!
Great video!
2012.
Fast forward to 2019 after 10 years of LaunchPad.
Now we at least have LaunchPad Pro (since 2015) with 4 level Velocity mode, full RGB, and more.
Amazing how much the LaunchPad has changed over the years.
Great video thanks for sharing this
Dope man, i was using the launchpad for ages as a drum seq live. I think more and more toys will start coming out.
thanks, its a great beat
Real nice tutorial here mmk!
Dubspot rocks.
So insightful
Thanks!! :)
Great voice.
Very impressed, Thank You. :o)
I wish there was a dubspot workshop in Gewrmany nordreinwestfalen bochum :/
cool, i just got a midi fighter, its awesome! It isn't velocity sensitive, but since he has the MF3d, you could map the gyro controls to velocity and filter for more expression with instruments
Must have ableto live!!!!
Damn good tutorial Thavius
Ya know. Mkay.
Grouping sounds or instruments that will use the same effects and be affected in the same way when the effects are enabled can be grouped together, but if I want to effect 4 different sounds with 4 different effects in 4 different ways, there would be no advantage to grouping them together, unless they were all running through the same Compressor or EQ or something. Just depends on the signal path that makes the most sense for your effects and how you plan to implement them.
Solid
1991 baby!!!
Dope
Truly helpful! I was wondering though which controller was the black cubic kind of stuff that you didn't use during the video? apart from the launchpad and the quneo... cheers!
Yo Yo Yo get Jiggy wit' it black soul man!
Tell me something anyone... can you choose different loop lengths on individual tracks on Ableton. this is at 7min 45sec mark
Interesting presentation but begs the question: if you'll be using Ableton, why not use Push 2 which, as I understand (unfortunately I don't own one - not yet at least...), is both Velocity sensitive and has aftertouch. Is it the price diff? How does Push compare with the other pads?
does the apc40 have a mode which can replicate the user 1 mode for the launch pad ?
rather than mapping to the same midi, is there some advantage to mapping the channels to the same midi control vs grouping and adding additional vst or ableton instruments to the group? It just seems cleaner to me to container them in one place.
very helpful... *doffs cap*
Thavius is the best instructor out there, mmmk?
dj obama!!!
sweet! are there any more videos that were takin at Decibel? Like more of the workshops that were done in Seattle?
does it work with reason quneo
hi, please answer to this question!! i use a launchpad on my new pc, it has a good cpu and medium graphic card... but when i push a button of launchpad in user 1 the sound come from the speakers half of a second later... i can't play in this way... maybe the problem is tha audio card? it's the only thing that is not very good in my pc...
wats the tune at the beginning?
i seen a few "live" sets where looked like some dude checking emails. Aphex Twin at least had someone in a bear costume dancing around to entertain us, while he played his laptop...
mkay
Does this work on Apc40 ??
his hair looks like a hat. it rules
song at the beginning ?? anybody ?
Hey DubSpot, what do you think of the Ableton push?
You have a Midi Fighter 3D there but you don't demo it at all in the vid :(
Wow, what a tough crowd. Didn't even give a courtesy chuckle to any of his subtle jokes.
Didn't Thavius defect to Bitwig or freelance? I don't know if he's still with Dubspot.
I like this guy! Get the man a hub tho
U could maybe shrink the APC? and make it easier to hold & play? Or maybe.. what if.. U just pulled some of teh extra knobs off.. so.. its not so heavy for u?
lol...
Nice Job Thavi :o)
that guy playing a watermelon!? LOL
Yeah i thought he was a great presenter. I dont like his music but his banter is top notch. Plus that afro is sick.
Mmkayy
mmkay
Nice but i prefer launchpad than quneo
He sounds like Obama lol...

Obama's Life after Presidency
Thavius sounds like Obama!!
he sounds like obama ._.
this guy's voice kind of sounds like Obama.
Man who the fuck is Obama we forgot about after watching this tutorial...
No, he doesn't.. perhaps a little like him.. exactly? Nah.
Great tutorial, I am a bassist trying to integrate ableton into my setup and this tutorial helped me identify what i wanted to achieve with midi controllers, Keep jammin Bros!
