My theory is that since truth or square the game confirms it (SpongeHenge), the ending is probably either his nightmare so he quickly gone back to bikini bottom

When Rick was killing himself, the liquid he drank was meant to sync him to every dimension, which means he would die in every alternate universe too.
And that other thing he turned to dust suffered the same throughout evey dimension

That seems really unlikely based on what we see it do but I always assumed it was meant to react with the lazer to vaporize him instead of just kill him in a way that he could return from.

There were some dark endings in American Dad as well. an other cartoon "Capital Critters" was also trying to do serious / dark / messed up stuff but it came out before its time, when TV wasn't ready for darker cartoons and it never made it very far. I think before Adult Swim many of your FOX and MTV cartoons would have been known for darker endings.

A gumball episode called ‘The Faith’ was soooo dark. It had a song in it about bombs, global warming, pollution, and politics. Kids don’t even know what that stuff is, and it just takes away the happiness from the show..I know gumball is a little bit darker, but I thought this was WAYY out of character.
Edit: I absolutely cannot stand dark harvest, it is the darkest episode I’ve ever seen in a cartoon.

In the Rick and Morty episode, keep in mind what happened during the episode. When Rick, Morty, and Summer found Unity's planet, and the two started to rekindle their relationship, Rick fully took advantage of the situation. He continuously instructed Unity to make the planet citizens perform for his amusement. Each action more dark, cruel, and perverse than the last. Which was why she finally decided to break up with him. The people on the planet had been savage aggressive, bent on destroying each other. Until Unity curbed their violent tendencies. But seeing Rick behave the way he did made her realize he was far worse than they were. And that she needed to stay away from him for the sake of her own moral compass. I always wondered about Rick's motivations for his attempted suicide at the end of the episode. Was he depressed because one the truly good beings he knows told him how irredeemable he was? Or was he just bummed because she wouldn't perform for his amusement anymore? Face it. If she came back to him, he would immediately go back to being the borderline evil, perverse character he was in this episode.
I know this was long-winded. But I thought there was a lot of context that was being left out.

At the end when Stan finally feels better about his life and is able to deal with the hard things that rolled his way, everything goes back to being normal and I find it sad how you can see the pain in his face.He even has to turn to drinking to feel better.

The season ending for Steven universe was wayyyy darker than the Steven universe episode that you listed, but judging by what you said about the episode, than that means that the episode probably didnt come out at the time of making this video.
