- This is the first video for my channel. I bought a unopened roll of MORGAN SILVER DOLLARS STAMPED CARSON CITY NV off of ebay for $1200. Comment on if I got a good deal or if I got ripped off? They are all uncirculated and I might get them all graded.

These are rolls full of sliders (coins that are in the AU58 range but look a bit better), the seller outs a good coin on one end to fool the buyers into paying double of what they would normally get for these coins.
If I can save some people from making the same mistakes that's makes me feel better.
@@random-reliccollectibles6139 Absolutely but there are cheaper methods.
@@CoinHELPu True. I do better going to auction or buying lots and splitting them with other collectibles to triple profits.
1. You got ripped off just like any one gullible enough to buy these rolls off ebay.
2. Why did you have a glove on one hand and then use your other to handle the coins?
I didnt understand the not using the glove either
@@derrickd3156 who owned the money he spent? Was it 1100.00 or 11,000.00? The coins now belong to him...how he handles his coins have very little to do with you. I can see giving friendly advice but to trash this man who spent HIS money how HE wanted to isnt your concern enough to get as upset as you are. He didnt lose even 1100.00 unless tey are all fake. The CC will get him 150 plus as long as it is real and grades out...he had a couple other that may get him 75.00 ea, then divide the balance lefty with the amount of coins and he is around 42 dollars a coin. If they are real he could easily sell them for 30ea low end. so at worst he lost 12 a coins for 17 coins...a little less than 200.00. When I eat out I spend more than that. Relax its his money why do you care this much to trash him? did you get fucked and are now deflecting your anger onto him?
GREAT POST !
I've always wondered about these rolls you see on Ebay and now I know. Thanks for posting this. It may help someone decide that the risk is not worth the reward. Take care.
Anybody can share their accomplishments, but it takes a modest man to share his failures. Educational and cool to watch!
Especially when they make money off gullible youtubers, lol

You can tell by looking at the end of that roll that it was rewrapped. There are cheap manual tools you can buy, which will leave those rippled marks in the ends. The only CC was, conveniently, the one you could see on the end. Granted, the rest of them were in decent shape, but none were even semi-key dates. You were probably averaging $30-40 each on the others, plus maybe $150 for the CC. $1200 for maybe $910 of coins, and thats being generous. Maybe you can make it up on the few that are worth having graded.
Why did you put a glove on your left hand and then handle the coins with your ungloved hand? Kinda the opposite of what you should do, huh?
Just one CC and it happened to be an ender = Scammed. This video and others are why I dont fall for these ebay auctions. Wish it would have been a better outcome for you!
Morgan's typically did not come wrapped in these $20 rolls ..
Morgan's were transported in bags .
Why would anyone sell a $20 roll with uncirculated CC Enders claiming it's an uncirculated roll, how do they know the inside coins are uncirculated ??
There's a guy here on CZcams that gives advice and he did some detective work on eBay ... Seen a graded/slabbed common date CC Morgan with several distinguishing marks sell cheap only to see this same coin as an ENDER in one of these rolls ...
CC Enders ??? I know id tear that roll open instead of selling ... Any coin dealer would too ...
Don't buy these rolls
uncirculated coins weigh a bit ore than circulated ones. The few "reputable" folks selling rolls know and post weight, and percentage of BU/UNC coins, and guarantee condition Again.... Very few
~rad~
they were MS-60 and they did roll morgan silver dollars
also the bags were distributed by the mint, these were distributed by a mint in 1914, 12 years after the newest coin
was minted
first, the are shipped to banks in bags from the mint. Banks did in fact roll them when they need to. Some industry that did business with the banks needed them rolled for convince and not every customer of a bank needed 1000.00 worth of dollars...some needed 40 or 50 dollars worth...they didnt bag them up and hand them to customers. Did he get ripped off ..prolly...but your premise that dollars were not rolled is beyond ridiculous
I always knew these rolls were bogus. Just so happens the carson city mint had a cc on one end and date of a cc on the other end. People scam every way they can
Rolls on Ebay are scams with set up rolls on enders.
Morgans back then didn't come in rolls... Morgans came in bags from the mint... Scam eBay seller for sure,,,.
the banks rolled them😂
I'm glad I got to see this video, I almost got suckered many times into buying a roll....Lesson learned my brother
If the coins are worth so much, the seller would not have sold them to you. Never buy on impulse bro.
Am i stoned out of my mellon,or did anyone else think all these morgans were cc mints!i thought the title says opening up a roll of morgans from the carson city mint,WTF
The poor bloke got ripped off. They should all be CC if from the CC mint? No??
@@damonz83 They were just rolled in a banks paper that resides in Carson City, it is not from the mint. A roll paper that shows Carson City has no more of a chance of containing a Carson City coin than anywhere else. When those coins were minted they were shipped to a federal bank before being distributed to banks, so Carson City coins were not just right out the door to stay around Carson City.
I thought the same. I thought they were all CC. I thought it was a pretty good deal from the description.
I was expecting them all to be from CC. Only one in that roll. Yea you got done, Payed about 600 bucks to much!
You got ripped. Mechanical rolling machines were invented in 1947 and the patent issued in 1951. Any rolls prior to that would be hand crimped. The paper roll itself was not invented until 1921 and did not look anything like your paper. Rolls of dollars were done for businesses that needed less than bags. Mostly for casinos in Nevada and Montana to start with. Demand prior to the 1950's for rolled coins was just not there. Why did you not think to check this out? Did it just not cross your mind. Never thought that things might have been done differently a hundred years ago? Don't waste your money on grading, just throwing more of it away. All common dates and mint marks.
bob lindstrom Carson city coin are not really common
@@onedollasnake You are so right. Only 9,000 CC dollars up on ebay right now and of course there are many other venues such as coin shops? Common as sin except for just a few dates and those are not scarce either.
Bob you are correct all these rolls on Ebay are 100% staged. They age them with a lighter and sandpaper
@@morgancollector4756 That's right; it's all a scam. They clean the coins and then put valuable coins on each end and common date coins between the ends. They are not machine rolled; the are rolled up by the ebay scam artist.
@Jace tru 1,000 dollars to a bag. As a kid I watched an armored truck driver put several bags on the sidewalk and really paid no attention to them. I was about 10 at the time. I walked over and was just touching the bag and he saw me and said, "if you can lift it and carry it away it's yours, kid". I tried....lol....could hardly budge the damn thing!
Sorry you got ripped off. It's a very expensive lesson, but one I am sure you will not repeat.
Beware of purchasing Coins, and in particular, Morgan Dollars on EBay. While there are many reputable coin dealers, there are enough crooks selling doctored or even forgeries.
If you can, go to a coin and currency expo. Most, if not all dealers are going to sell you genuine coins. They will also help you learn about them. Learning about coins is the best thing you can do for yourself. Become very familiar with the coin types you collect.
And I agree that these coins are not worth enough to get graded by third party grading companies. Just put them in your album, and admire the beauty of their design.
Ebay has too many fakes
I like how you wear a glove on your left hand and then handle the coins with your bare right hand.
Yep. Pretty strange.
I'm a photographer and videographer. Consider making a rehearsal video maybe using a roll of quarters to learn your cameras autofocus capabilities and limitations. That way you can avoid all the out of focus closeups.
Thanks, Yeah I have been getting better since the video and updated my phone. My future videos should be better . Thanks for the helpful words. Have a great day.
Dude you're wearing a glove on one hand!!!! And handling with the ungloved hand. Cmon man
Never buy rolls off EBay......its a loss all the way around.
Thanks for showing these coins and your experience
like many other folks I was almost tempted to bid on something like that
You helped out a lot of folks realize that this is just BS or a bad deal
Dude is touching these with his dumb hands , I spent a lot to do this 😂
Your best one is a 84 Carson City which is worth about $175 I think you got ripped off you can buy the 84 Carson City graded and slab 4 round 200 225
Why did you put glove on left hand and handle coins with right?
Morgans came in bags not rolls.....you've been ripped off.....Send them back if you can !!
Come on people. It’s his first!!!!! I enjoyed it. Thanks!!!
Thank you for the video and sorry that so many people are that hateful and rude.
Thanks for sharing and posting this. A lesson to be learned by all who watch.
Man anyone saying that you got ripped off obviously aren’t educated on what most of those coins are worth , any of the CC’s will bring a particular premium most of these coins have almost 100% of their finishes and little to no distinguishing marks drawing the eye to them. You should take these to a coin shop and make a follow up and link it to this video and tell everyone what your profits are from the deal. By the way if you send your coins to any company to be graded then guess what,,,, your coin got touched by whoever graded it with no gloves 🧤. So that settles all the glove comments. This was very intriguing to watch. I would like to see more. Thank You for the video..
Sad. I'm sitting here predicting the mint and was right on every one except two. These rolls are ALWAYS a scam.
Very cool!
Thanks for sharing!
You need to publish who the seller was.
turn this over to ebays fraud department .
I don't want to slander some persons name but It is a thought.
it is unethical but not technically fraud. it wouldn't go anywhere.
It's not fraud. It's wrong, but it's fraud. I found a couple people doing this on ebay. Just look them up; super easy to find.
@@random-reliccollectibles6139 Your best bet is to weigh them as most fakes have a different weight. You can do this in hopes they are fakes and was sold to you as legit to try to recoup your cash.
The CCs are good finds
Take a lump, learn from your mistakes, if you are able to return I would, you probably lost $400.
Thanks for sharing. Gotta have thick skin to post anything nowadays. Cheers
Do not handle with pair hands!!
@@RRRIBEYE Yep. That to.. 😂
You have about 600$-800$ worth of morgans. The only two I would bother having grading is the CC and the 1900.
You would just be wasting money having the others graded. They are average dates and only worth grading if you plan on keeping them for your own collection.
For resale, there isn't much of a point in grading. It costs a lot to grade each coin and you won't get much return on investment if you do sell them in the future.
Nice coins though!
and if he got a grade of MS65 on them? Just a few would cover the cost of the entire roll. even common date coins with a MS65/66 will get you good money
sorry for your loss.
You got ripped off, so bad. But you got a new sub buddy.
Never buy rolls off ebay there all scams I buy my Morgan's off ebay but 1 at a time so I know what I'm getting and the majority are graded..
I feel your pain. You could have bought one or two nice key date CC Morgan Dollars in MS65+ holders with that money. Better luck next time.
Don’t buy rolls on EBAY! All those coins will not sell for $50 each… All general coins they purchased for $25-$30 and then put them in rolls. I just bought a 1896 O for $40 in very nice condition! Thank you for sharing!
these are well known scams on ebay, it is a profitable scam tho because people are always bidding on and buying them. i'm sorry bro, i have been scammed myself. not this specific scam but early in my coin collecting days i got got a few times. it happens and we learn.
Nice . Look like you got 2 1886 nmm hard to find but all of them are very nice coins . Love them .
20 Morgans, 1 Carson City,A Load of No Mint Marks, and 3 O's. As for the no mint marks generally those are considered Philidelphia since they were the most circulated. And with the exception of the Carson City one which may have some value, the rest seem like non-key dates, and probably only fetch slightly over silver spot price. Not worth over the $1200 he paid for them, maybe half or slightly over. But as they say you win some, you lose some.
Lose some to an eBay scammer
Loving the toning and it’s interesting seeing where the toning is on the coins and how it spread
Yeah really good looking coins
At least they all looked like they were in decent shape. I saw a Morgan roll opening video and the two on the end looked good but the 18 others were dirty or best to hell, or both.
You are doing good, just remember to handle the coins with "The Glove" as natural oil in you hands ruin the coin.
Sorry you got ripped! Good lesson though, I won’t be buying any Morgan dollar rolls on eBay any time soon!!
As long as you had fun, you are a grown man .
Nice looking coins! You paid twice what their worth ... but your a stacker now, which makes you smarter than the masses! I personally go for the cheep, ugly, worn out Morgan’s ..
first of all thanks for video second of all this is a hoax third of all you probably paid too much for them not even graded and u should put the guys name up for future buyers to be aware of don't buy from this person all in all nice looking coins if real but prob not have a good day
the 1914 told me red flag and avoid this
Where r ur gloves bud
Congratulations,,nice buy
Grab your ankles, no vaseline, ouch!
stunning coins man

You opened it.
Hope they didn't turn out to be fake!
New subscriber, first video I've seen.
Yours Truly,

Thanks for the sub.
He shouldn't have been pulling coins off the bottom of the Roll potentially scratching surface of coins. And yes he should have been wearing a glove on his right hand.
Cherry picked reroll with 1 good ender. Also look cleaned with acetone. No frosty luster.Sorry dude you got ripped off.
Thanks for posting bud, I wish I didn’t have to scroll through 126 comments regarding gloves sure your tired of seeing that.
How many 1889s.. .the most common Morgan
I enjoyed guessing the mints as you worked through but my heart sank for you. I only got two wrong and even that's because I thought you might at least have had an S with the 1880 or 1881. The mint state 1889s were never going to be CC and were bound to be Philadelphia, just as the 1886s were. They look okay coins but I fear you got taken to the cleaners by a dealer who was desperate to shift a stock of ten-a-penny Philly dollars. The 1884-CC is obviously worth having but you'd have been better off choosing one on its own. I have time for some of the O dollars like the 1902, but I think you'll be stuck with those 1886s and 1889s. A lesson not to buy a roll blind so it was an instructive watch.
Stunning coins, buddy! 😁🤘
Thanks.
I saw the toning on the coins and said, Oh Boy....... E BAY is the place to get screwed. They have red lights out front last time I went by.
Although you didn't get as many CC's as you probably wanted, you did NOT get ripped off. For $1,200, you bought them for about $60 a piece, and with the toned coins and the slightly rarer dates, you probably broke even.
Nah, he got ripped the fuck off
He got ripped HARD
I agree that you got ripped off. SEE IF YOU CAN RETURN IT!
Those are tough because most of the time when you see a CC at the end it's normally the only one in the roll which makes it hard to know if you did good or bad
you can buy nice Morgans from SD Bullion for $60.00.
What was the purpose of your gloved left hand?
Fashion statement in honor of the late MJ maybe.
Nice lookin Morgans!
So cool man! I subbed! I love Morgan dollars!
The roll has been planted for profit. It isn't an original bank roll from 1914. I'm only 100% sure. One 82-83-84 common date CC just for effects and the rest repetitive common date coins. You overpaid a few hundred bucks!
Machine coin rolls were not available until the late forties.
If your coins average a MS60 grade your total would have been $1168. Most likely that is not the case so I would venture to say that you may have paid alot more than you should. Hey we all make mistakes when we impulse buy!
I want to get the error coin I found in the lot checked out.
Graded perhaps, but the cost of grading 20 Morgans is a bit over $500 last I checked.
Awesome video I wish I had some!!
Nice coins, but do they really come close to $1200?
if they are mint state yes, if not no
Do the coins look clean to anyone elsr?
I feel your pain 😞 all them 89s in there why couldn't you get a cc on the back!!!
Risky at $60 per coin unless they are Carson City Minted: Very COOL 😎 1889 ! 1896 ! 1893?
Good Hunting with this Educational Coin Project!
That was exciting!
Thank you!
Just bought a Toned 1886 MS65 Morgan.
ps 1,200 was a steel!
Did this coin have an O mint mark?
Get out the magnet, they could all be "steels".
The second he said 1889 I knew that was not a complete CC roll. Especially for $1,200. I guess he's never heard of P.T. Barnum.
Thank you for posting.
Thanks
I was going to say I just saw the other comments and agree
Sorry you got ripped off. However, there are a few nice specimens.
First off; if you're going to spend this much $ on coins you need to buy a copy of the grey sheet, either used or new. But dude, get your fingers off the faces of the coins!!! You gotta be careful around Unc coins, you can make huge value vanish in a moment of inexperience. As for the guy who says graders don't use gloves, I think I'll be giving the graders the benefit of the doubt on that statement. You didn't get ripped off, you bought a pig in a poke, you ripped yourself off. Hope your local coin dealer is a good one.
Thanks. I needed to do more research and be more careful handling the. Thats why I diversify into different investments, to make up for the bad ones. Thanks for the advise.
Return it. Ebay will back you on scams like this when they are misrepresented.
closer look reveals some au coins-whole deal worth about 450 dollars-you got ripped friend
so you bought them for about 1200$ and your total value for all your coins (grade included) is 1215$ (p.s. if you kept the roll intact it the roll would be worth about 50-100$
Those rolls r a scam dont listen to the negative comments just won't recommend u make that purchase again good look and happy hunting in the future
Thanks. We all learn from our mistakes.
If you are new to this - everywhere that you have touched a silver dollar or coin it will discolor within 1-2 years Literally you are ruining the value of your own precious metals. Any CC Morgans in very good to excellent condition are worth a fair amount so you might consider grading. You paid $60 per coin, not a great buy TOO EXPENSIVE, if you are lucky you almost get that much back with a smaller loss.
Why start with both gloves on and then only use one, and that one on the hand your not handling the coins? Never buy rolls of Morgan silver dollars off Ebay.
Amd why are you dragging coins from the bottom
Correct me if I'm wrong but when the Carson City dollars were made they did not put them in rolls they came in bags
Have you checked the value of your coins lately? It would be great if this turned out to be a good buy after putting up with all those negative and ignorant comments'
No I got rid of them for a slightly less profit but reinvested in other stuff. Its worth helping people so they don't make the same mistake.
Thanks for taking the hit for the rest of us it was a very informative video
Notice no reply, all the negative and ignorant comments were spot on.
@@random-reliccollectibles6139 No only that but even with all the negative comments it does help the algorithm with your youtube channel so there's that as well.
Yeah, you got robbed like 3 times over.
The roll says Carson City????
Thanks for the video brother, don’t pay any attention to the haters, they are just pissed coz they can’t afford to buy a nice roll of Morgan’s. Enjoy ur collecting, that’s what counts.
E bay buy??? This was awesome to watch. I would’ve been so excited man
Yes eBay buy. Crazy investment impulse buy. My other was bought purse at another location auction for $800 and it was fake I'm pretty sure, I have learned. At the time I just got back from Asia after 5 months and was a little spend happy after moving to the Midwest.
You put a glove on... And you are using your hand with no globe I don't think that's good you might have nice coins there... I destroyed a coin buy a fingerprint
How does a finger print destroy a coins value?
Im just getting into coins and Morgan's so I am glad I found this video. From reading all the comments im glad I never bought a roll cuz I would have been pissed cuz I wouldn't have known better either cuz they make it seem like your getting some badass Morgan's. In reality it's a scam from the comments. That sucks bro but you live and learn from your mistakes and i'm surprised all those sellers have good feedback unless people buy and don't have to much knowledge of what they're buying. Either way great vid and hopefully it will help other buyers stay away from them like me lol👍
Edit: dang they could've at least put some good dates and mints for that price. What you get 1 morgan cc?
