Hey, if you're just now finding out about this game and happen to be one of the twelve people owning a PS5, it runs in flawless 60fps in back-compat mode! It's absolutely transformative for this game.

Honestly that Bridge dropping is haunting, even just to think about that kinda stuff happening in real disasters. Just a collection of individuals with their own lives, family and stories wiped out.
It happened in Italy a year or so ago. Sure, another region and not where I lived, but still, scary nonetheless
Yeah, despite being fictional and removed by three degrees, I still yelled OH FUCK when it happened. Having it all happen in real-time and without any sort of embellishment like a musical sting makes it hit *much* harder.

I like your approach to reviewing video games because you always seem to show what every game does good despite its flaws.I feel like other reviewers/people would probably call this game jank or clip weird animations and make it some meme instead of putting a spotlight on the good quality the games like this have
yup this is why he's one of my favorite youtubers, these are the only reviews I care about, because he knows every gaming expierience is subjective to the player, it's really refreshing. I usually hate reviews, it almost allways boils down to someone either praising a game for reaching mainstream industry standards or hating on a game for not reaching those same industry standards, no room for inovation and experimentation and I honestly think these review models are more harmfull to videogames than helpfull

If you like low quality textures that pop in as you’re running through the environments, terrible image quality and a frame rate that rarely gets past the mid-teens, try the Switch version. It’s a masterpiece.
It's awful on there, happy the PC version is WAY more stable if not always locked to 60FPS
the switch version is mind-bending, the fact that they ported the raytracing engine over is both incredible *AND* terrible
That was the version I tried and boy was it awful something. I’ve rarely seen a game that consistently has a frame rate noticeably under 30. Really, that was the only thing stopping me from enjoying the game though

I was hoping you'd mention the epilogue DLC. I really liked seeing the city in the middle of rebuilding, probably one of the most interesting parts of the game and I hope they do it again in a sequel. also a lotta fan service!
shame that depending on how your playthrough goes, and if you even do more than one, you'll quickly see how the branching and exploration in this one is basically absent save for one choice right at the end. it really soured the experience for me.
I'm also with everyone else in the comments, really missed this format lol. going through your older videos was how I got into a lot of games a couple years back. focusing on a single game and going into more detail about it is much more fun to watch than a shotgun spread of loosely related games I think.
The epilogue mentioned things I didn't even do. 10/10

Back when this game was about to come out in the West, I was watching a review of it when my hometown/state was hit by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake.
Needless to say, it was a bit of ironic timing. (Side note: earthquakes are scary as all hell, which this game captures well)
Something i didnt realize until i finished the game was that the teacher was kelly from the first game, whos japanese name was Natsumi Higa.

for those who wonder: R-Type Final 2 is in production by the very same people that finished Disaster Report 4+, in fact R-Type even had a TWO tactical spinoffs, both in englisH!

I've played this game the day it came out and honestly it's one of the best games i've played this year so far. Yeah it lacks in terms of graphics but the emotions and the gameplay itself is so good and so entertaining !! I disovered ths serie of games with your channel and i'm planning to buy the 1st and 2nd game of the franchise i'm so excited !! I completed this last week on PC.
The game was pretty fun as heck, even though I only played Raw Danger. It's got that weird charm and does not take itself seriously at all, it's pretty fun dispite it's issues. I'd totally recommend it, even through it's VERY different from DR1-3 because it shows Society still functioning dispite a disaster, this one was a bit rushed but it's still decent nontheless.

Sounds like Yakuza: Disaster Edition (Highly unpolished)! I immediately added it to my Steam wishlist when you said it was on PC. They want $60 for it somehow, though, so it'll be a hot minute.

@@DeathToJihad Actually don't forget this game offers a whole massive story adventure game, that can be played around 10 - 12 hours, and an extra Story DLC which adds 7 extra chapters, which adds another 1 - 2 hours to your playtime (The PC version is the only version to be shipped with the DLC for free, on switch and PS4 you have to buy DLC separate)

I already bought the PS4 version from Japan in 2018 not knowing there was gonna be an English port because they announced that in 2019, I spent £72 to get it to the UK, but NIS America is expecting me to pay for a game nearly £22 less than I already spent on it just for English, Granzella and I have a good connection, but they cannot seem to get NIS America to get me a free copy, So I advised Granzella to never use NIS America again, as they also did a lazy ass port, as some things in the "English" Port aren't translated at all. I can still find text that is in Japanese. So I recommend the Summer Sale
Had to watch this video again since I've been getting back into the game after playing other games, and I'm just so happy this gave had finally come out. Super excited since they recently revealed that they're starting up 5 somewhat soon! It's got a little jank here and there, but I'd rather that then most GOTY contenders lmao.

This game was meant to be on PS3 and they clearly just ported it PS4. I think if this had come on on PS3 when it was planned it would have been better received. I enjoyed it for what it is.

I wouldn't mind a game like this in a mechanical style of animal crossing. Like, you're the mayor of a small town that is susceptible to any natural disaster and the only way to combat it is just preparing and maintaining your small town. Have a game mode where you investigate certain areas that are more likely to be an area of high activity and ask around town what would be best to help the town. Also some sorta karma system where if you neglect or fail to listen to your citizens theyll riot and cause massive collateral damage or even try to assassinate you. I've never heard of natural disasters until this video but that actually sounds like a cool game

I live in Chile, so Eathquakes are the most common thing in my life (Being in 7-8,8-8,3-6,7(This one fucked my house) and i remember one 8 in 2014). This game show how fucking surreal living one is, and isn't just about THE earthquake itself, but the aftershocks, having to be on constant alert in case on another one apppears, in the 8,3, after the first one, a 7,8 aftershock appeared, so we had to not enter the houses for at least 8 hours.

Hell yes I've been waiting for you to review this game for a while now, I bought this game as soon as it was released! I love this game it is very underrated IMO, it is very Shenmue like and part survival horror but the horror aspect being mother nature will fuck you up if you get in its way, or just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, which did happen to me quite often. There's something good to be said about games that are not afraid to make parts of the game that might never be seen. Branching storylines and option side quest are a great thing in video games, and helps a ton in making a game far more memorable and special to the player.

So I know what to get myself for my birthday now..
I had no idea about the tone being set for 4 till this video. A lot of people who cover this game make it seem so "OMG WACKY JAPANESE GAME" but that bridge scene was daunting, especially as someone who has played the prior games in the series. Its very different from the other games in that tonal shift but man does it make me more interested in seeing this more harsher and personal identity (with the occasional haha silly moments). Good stuff as always Thor!
I completely missed the spot where I needed to use the key to open the locker and get the jewelry box, and now I want to start over from the beginning because I can't go back into the subway. Aside from that, I do enjoy the game. Takes me back to those old PS2 era schlock games

Nice, this video made me feel excited again after another video I saw made me sigh. You know Irem is still technically alive, although they're focusing on Pachinko now... at least the loan out their IPs sometimes, so more R-Type can be made, etc.
I've just finished 3 and I was dissappointed in the gameplay there but the story was OK. 2/Raw Danger is my favorite and I doubt that'll change with 4, though it looks enjoyable.
P.S The teacher Higa has been in all four games! She was the second girl in 1, helped the bullied girl out in 2 and got coerced to go find food by the entitled assholes in 3.
